O presente trabalho teve como objetivo analisar a percepção dos estudantes de uma escola da rede pública de ensino sobre os resíduos sólidos no âmbito da educação ambiental. A coleta de dados se deu por meio de um questionário a 90 alunos do ensino médio no município de Crateús-CE. Os resultados demonstraram que a maioria (64 %) dos estudantes vê o lixo como algo inútil. Boa parte dos alunos (69%) conheceu o tema “lixo” nas aulas de biologia, porém, a frequência de aulas que abordem a temática é considerada baixa pelos mesmos. Os projetos e ações governamentais são os meios mais referidos na conscientização e a minimização do lixo deve ocorrer por meio de ações sustentáveis segundo os estudantes. Apesar dos discentes conheceram certas condutas sustentáveis, ainda não estão a par da realidade social caracterizada pela produção de lixo. The student perspective on solid waste in a school in the semi-arid Northeast The present work had the objective of analyzing the perception of students of a school in the public system on solid waste in the scope of environmental education. Data collection was done through a semi-structured questionnaire to 90 high school students. The results showed that the majority (64%) of the students see the trash as something useless. Most of the students (69%) knew the subject "junk" in biology classes, however, the frequency of classes that approach the subject is considered low by them. It is observed that although the students know some concepts and sustainable behaviors, they still present a simplistic view on the problem of garbage, and they have little information regarding the social reality that characterizes the solid waste production. Resumo Este artigo é baseado em um relato de experiência docente, em que tivemos a pretensão de estimular a reflexividade linguística dos alunos adolescentes da rede pública de ensino da capital cearense. O referencial teórico é pautado nos eixos conceituais: superdiversidade e transidioma (MOITA LOPES, 2013; BLOMMAERT; RAMPTON, 2011); multimodalidade e multiletramentos (JEWITT, 2010; SOARES, 2002; ROJO, 2012). Dessa forma, almejamos escrever como ocorrem os usos transidiomáticos nas práticas sociais dos alunos do 2o ano do ensino médio na construção de textos multimodais, a partir da perspectiva da superdiversidade e da multimodalidade. Diante do exposto, acreditamos que os usos transidiomáticos devem estar presentes nas práticas discursivas da escola, principalmente nas aulas de língua estrangeira, a fim de sensibilizar os alunos em prol de uma visão sociolinguística emancipatória. Experiência docente.   Transidiomatic practices in Spanish as a Second Language: multimodality in the public school Abstract This paper is based on a teaching experience, from a perspective of the linguistic reflexivity for high school students of a public school located in Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil. The theoretical framework is related to these approaches: superdiversity and transidiomatic uses of language (MOITA LOPES, 2013; BLOMMAERT; RAMPTON, 2011); multimodality and multiliteracies (JEWITT, 2010; SOARES, 2002; ROJO, 2012). Thus we intend to show how transidiomatic linguistic uses occur in the social practices of the students from high school of the second degree in Brazil. We will see, in fact, the construal of multimodal texts, from the perspective of the superdiversity and the multimodality. We consider transidiomatic uses as present in the classes, mainly in second language classes, in order to make the students aware of an emancipatory sociolinguistics view. Keywords: Transidioma. Both earlier Swedish research and reports in the Swedish media suggest that students and teachers perceive norm conflicts regarding test-taking and grading: on one hand, high-school-students (year 7 -12) and teachers feel expected to strictly adhere to rules prohibiting cheating in school; on the other hand, they feel expected to apply these rules flexibly to facilitate students achieving good grades. This study aims to address this conflict from student perspective and answer the following question: To what extent do high-school students perceive that social norms support rules against school cheating? The data for this quantitative study was collected from 199 high-school students. Using a norm-sociological model (Svensson, 2008), the data was subsequently analysed to illuminate in what way students understood the social norm against cheating in school and what significance they allocated to these values ​​in their social environments. The results show that the high-school students perceived the social norm against cheating to be significantly stronger than the social norm for cheating. Secondly, the students perceived that teachers, principals and parents clearly viewed cheating negatively, and imbued the no-cheating norm with great importance. Thirdly, the students perceived that their peers were ambivalent to cheating.

Go through multiple ways of representation constitutes an essential skill to recognize, understand and explain numerous phenomena on the natural sciences and simultaneously relating them to the social and technological aspects that permeate the contemporary socie-ty. This integration of meanings becomes particularly relevant when the forms of representa-tion are Cartesian systems, which add, among others, opportunities to build inferences and predictions during its production or reading. The learning that focuses the movement be-tween these multiple forms of representation is not innate and dependent on teaching strate-gies that provide and encourage this practice. Learning strategies that consider aspects that combine multimodal oral narratives, texts and numbers, visual and audiovisual language are powerful tools that are available to be inserted into instructions in chemistry classrooms. These strategies allow the teacher to establish the initial skills and their evolution through-out the process regarding the ability of students to construct graphs representing the phe-nomena studied in the conceptual and analytical perspective. In this work are presented and discussed the results of evolution in the form of representation of Cartesian graphs for high school students before and during the process of multimodal learning. At the beginning of the process the students build their charts showing only a superficial view of the subject, merely just plot the data between two axes. Throughout the process students moves from a practical copyist to an explicit vision essential to a practice in which the relationships and conceptual analytical view about the phenomenon are considered. The study deals with the developing interactive media for senior high school students. The objective of this study is to find out how to develop interactive media for better speaking skill of senior high school students. The research was conducted by using Research and Development (R&D). The subject of this research was 2016/2017 students of the eleventh grade of Class XI IPA4 in SMAN 1 Batang Kuis. The number of the students was 30 students. The data of this study was collected by using need analysis questionnaire and experts’ judgment. Need analysis questionnaire was calculated by using percentage to get the information of students’ need before developing interactive media. Experts’ judgment was calculated by using likert data, mean and criteria interval of expert judgment to know the validity of interactive media which has been developed. After the data analyzed, it was found that the experts’ judgment result was 4.80 which had a very good criteria interval. The result of the research find that interactive media is a very good to be used in teaching speaking skill.

<div>We present here an interdisciplinary workshop on the subject of biomolecules offered to undergraduate and high-school students with the aim of boosting their interest toward all areas of science contributing to the study of life. The workshop involves Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science and Biology. Based on our own areas of research, molecular modeling is chosen as central axis as it involves all disciplines. In order to provide a strong biological motivation for the study of the dynamics of biomolecules, the theme of the workshop is the origin of life. </div><div>All sessions are built around active pedagogies, including games, and a final poster presentation.</div>

This study was aimed at identifying new effective forms that could facilitate the achievement of a practice-oriented result, i.e. students’ ability to communicate in any speech situation, as well as their readiness for various kinds of oral and written examination tests, including the public defence of projects in the 10th grade and writing December essays in the 11th grade. The article considers rhetorical competitions as a means of developing communicative and linguistic competencies among 10th–11th grade students of a polycultural school. The article provides recommendations on organizing such competitions, criteria for evaluating presentations, examples of oral presentations. A textual analysis of the folklore material of Dagestanian and Russian fairy tales and proverbs allowed the authors to conclude that an inexhaustible set of universal themes that have become the subject of reflection in different nations, can teach students to respect other cultures and extend their knowledge of the world and other people. The experience of a rhetorical competition in high school on the basis of fairy tales and proverbs of different nations is expected to help students form such core competencies as critical thinking, creativity, communication and cooperation (ability to work in a team).

The paper deals with issues connected with the motivation of high school students to participate in activities aimed at professional creative activity and, in this context, issues of environmental influences, especially from school and the family. It is responding to some of the growing efforts of neoliberalism to over individualize creative expression and activities and completely ignore social influences. It also takes into account the cultural legacy of past generations and the sources of creative power that have taken root in society and from which individuals draw and process their inspiration. Presented within are the results of an empirical probe focused on the influence of the social environment on the creative activity of teenagers. The paper follows the relations to the existing body of knowledge on the relationship between social environment and creativity, with an effort to capture the social conditionality of creative performances—to capture their roots. The results of the probe have confirmed the initial hypothesis that the creative efforts of secondary school students taking part in vocational training is based on the social background of the family and school. However, the family influence on the students’ creativity is not as significant as one would expect. It is the indirect effect of the family environment that has a larger influence.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to analyse the 2016 elections for Police and Crime Commissioners (PCCs) and to compare them with those that took place in 2012. It seeks to evaluate the background of the candidates who stood for office in 2016, the policies that they put forward, the results of the contests and the implications of the 2016 experience for future PCC elections. Design/methodology/approach This paper is based around several key themes – the profile of candidates who stood for election, preparations conducted prior to the contests taking place, the election campaign and issues raised during the contests, the results and the profile of elected candidates. The paper is based upon documentary research, making particular use of primary source material. Findings The research establishes that affiliation to a political party became the main route for successful candidates in 2016 and that local issues related to low-level criminality will dominate the future policing agenda. It establishes that although turnout was higher than in 2012, it remains low and that further consideration needs to be devoted to initiatives to address this for future PCC election contests. Research limitations/implications The research focusses on the 2016 elections and identifies a number of key issues that emerged during the campaign affecting the conduct of the contests which have a bearing on future PCC elections. It treats these elections as a bespoke topic and does not seek to place them within the broader context of the development of the office of PCC. Practical implications The research suggests that in order to boost voter participation in future PCC election contests, PCCs need to consider further means to advertise the importance of the role they perform and that the government should play a larger financial role in funding publicity for these elections and consider changing the method of election. Social implications The rationale for introducing PCCs was to empower the public in each police force area. However, issues that include the enhanced importance of political affiliation as a criteria for election in 2016 and the social unrepresentative nature of those who stood for election and those who secured election to this office in these contests coupled with shortcomings related to public awareness of both the role of PCCs and the timing of election contests threaten to undermine this objective. Originality/value The extensive use of primary source material ensures that the subject matter is original and its interpretation is informed by an academic perspective.
