Since construction projects are usually associated with high range of risks, risk analysis is an essential part within the decision-making processes in this industry. This study aims at finding the effect of appropriate risk analysis on enhancing the performance of the construction projects in Kuwait. Through this correlational descriptive study, a questionnaire was used to collect the main data where it was distributed on a sample of (150) engineers working in the construction projects in Kuwait. The results showed that risks analysis aspects are highly implemented in Kuwait and that the performance indices for the construction projects are high. Moreover, it was found that there is a statistically significant positive effect of risk analysis on the performance of the construction projects in Kuwait. Finally, the results showed that there were statistically significant differences in the effect of risk analysis on the performance of the construction projects attributed to the project type in favor of the private projects.

Employees who have a high  commitment, have a desire to defend themselves as members of the organization. Therefore, to develop an organization, various aspects must be considered that can create work commitment. This study aims to examine: 1) the influence of leadership style on work commitment, 2) the influence of organizational culture on work commitment and 3) the effect of reward on work commitment. This research is a quantitative descriptive study using multiple regression analysis. The population in this study was all employees at KOPPAS "Citra Kartini" Senggreng Sumberpucung Malang Regency with a sample using saturated sampling technique, amounting to 39 employees. The results of data analysis in this study can be concluded: 1) leadership style has a significant positive effect on employee  commitment, 2) organizational culture has a significant positive effect on employee commitment, 3) reward has a significant positive effect on employee  commitment, and 4) reward is a variable which has a dominant effect on employee  commitment

Abstract Decision-making processes, including the ones related to ill-structured problems, are of considerable significance in the area of construction projects. Computer-aided inference under such conditions requires the employment of specific methods and tools (non-algorithmic ones), the best recognized and successfully used in practice represented by expert systems. The knowledge indispensable for such systems to perform inference is most frequently acquired directly from experts (through a dialogue: a domain expert - a knowledge engineer) and from various source documents. Little is known, however, about the possibility of automating knowledge acquisition in this area and as a result, in practice it is scarcely ever used. It has to be noted that in numerous areas of management more and more attention is paid to the issue of acquiring knowledge from available data. What is known and successfully employed in the practice of aiding the decision-making is the different methods and tools. The paper attempts to select methods for knowledge discovery in data and presents possible ways of representing the acquired knowledge as well as sample tools (including programming ones), allowing for the use of this knowledge in the area under consideration.

Audit quality is very important, where the higher the quality audit that is applied to produce financial statements accurate and reliable as a basis for decision making for the users of these financial statements. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of competence, independence and profeionalisme auditor to audit quality. Processing method to test the validity, reliability, multiple linear regression, hypothesis testing, and test the coefficient of determination. The results showed the competence of auditors in carrying out audits and significant positive effect on audit quality in KAP in South Jakarta. Independence of the auditor in carrying out audits and significant positive effect on audit quality in KAP. While Professionalism auditor in carrying out audits and significant positive effect on audit quality in KAP.Keywords: competence, independency, professionalism, and quality audits.

Abstract Healthcare projects with apparent productivity gaps require all available IT innovation mechanisms. The objective of this study is to investigate the predictors of the development of IT innovation mechanisms to improving healthcare business. This includes the utilization of the panel data in healthcare projects and the analysis of the relationship between IT innovation mechanisms and operational decision-making. The paper indicates that the implementation of innovative IT technology has a significant positive effect on the healthcare project productivity in Canadian hospitals.

Directors are human resources who play an important role in maintaining the long-term sustainability of the company's business. Thus, this study aims to determine board size, CEO tenure, and foreign director on company performance in the non-financial industry on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2013-2018 with multiple linear regression analysis using 1,764 sample data from 294 companies. Contributions in this study using resource dependency theory, stewardship theory and foreign directors variables as indicators of independence. The results of the study board size have a significant positive effect on company performance, with an optimal number of 4-9 people because it can provide diverse perspectives and ideas in decision making. CEO tenure  does not affect ROA and ROE because the president director tends to reject and avoid risks and company's performance is influenced by all directors, not just the president director. Foreign directors have a significant positive effect on ROA with an optimal percentage of 26-50% because they provide different perspectives on decision making, but does not affect ROE with 51-75% of the optimal amount because does not have large influence to influence decisions in improving company performance. Keywords:  Director’s Characteristics, Firm Performance, Resource Dependency Theory, Stewardship Theory.

Construction projects are predominantly managed with a heavy reliance on the knowledge and experience of construction professionals and supporting enterprise resource planning systems. The construction sector continues to struggle with the management, analysis, and transformation of data into useful information for improved decision-making. While development of data-driven decision support systems for construction would improve the accuracy and relevancy of decision-making processes, several challenges currently limiting the incorporation of dynamic project data into prediction models must first be addressed. An envisioned solution for advancing data-driven decision making in construction using a simulation-based analytics framework capable of overcoming such limitations is presented and discussed. Concept feasibility is demonstrated through the successful completion of a prototype for quality-associated decision support that has been developed using the proposed conceptual framework.

Abstract Adversarial Risk Analysis (ARA) builds on statistical risk analysis and game theory to analyze decision situations involving two or more intelligent opponents who make decisions under uncertainty. During the past few years, the ARA approach-which is based on the explicit modelling of the decision making processes of a rational opponent-has been applied extensively in areas such as counterterrorism and corporate competition. In the context of military combat modelling, however, ARA has not been used systematically, even if there have been attempts to predict the opponent’s decisions based on wargaming, application of game theoretic equilibria, and the use of expert judgements. Against this backdrop, we argue that combining ARA with military combat modelling holds promise for enhancing the capabilities of combat modelling tools. We identify ways of combining ARA with combat modelling and give an illustrative example of how ARA can provide insights into a problem where the defender needs to estimate the utility gained from hiding its troop movements from the attacker. Even if the ARA approach can be challenging to apply, it can be instructive in that relevant assumptions about the resources, expectations and goals that guide the adversary’s decisions must be explicated.

Infrastructure construction projects are complex with a very long life-cycle, a complex organizational plan, a complex resource management, technical complexities, contractual complexities and macro-environmental factors. The complexity of an infrastructure project leads to the existence of interdependent risks, which are hard to anticipate and control. As the investment is major for these types of projects, the risks and opportunities are critical to the project success or failure, the risk factors need to be identified and analyzed before any decision-making process. While upfront planning is important, not all events and scenarios can be foreseen as the project can take several years to complete and may involve many companies and stakeholders. In this planning stage of the project, a robust risk analysis method is indispensable for identifying and analyzing the major risk and opportunity factors. In this paper, a formalized multi-criteria decision-making process is developed based on a strategic risk analysis in a complex environment: (1) in a very early stage and at a strategic level, (2) before the contracting phase in order to develop a risk allocation plan and negotiate it with the project owner.
