Background: The hand is a functionally critical organ at the distal end of the upper extremity. Also, the creases in the hands and the digital flexion creases on the fingers are the important external anatomical landmarks.Objectives: There are no studies found in the literature, linking solely the leadership personality traits with the anthropometric measurements of the hand.Methods: This descriptive study was to investigate the relationship between the 44 anthropometric measurements about hand, and the leadership personality traits in young adults from both genders.Results: When the leadership frames were compared by the scores, human resource leadership scores were significantly higher in the females. The charismatic leadership frame scores positively correlated with the parameters in males; including the breadth of the right hand, the breadth of the left hand, the index finger length of the left hand, and the distal phalanx length of the index finger on the left hand. The transformational leadership score was positively correlated with the left hand width and with the distal phalanx of the index finger on the left hand. In females, it was found out that the frames of human leadership and charismatic leadership correlated negatively with the length of the right thumb.Conclusions: According to the results of our study, we concluded that the breadth of the hand and the measurements of the thumb and the index fingers can provide opinion on leadership personality traits.

The position sense of a stationary arm was investigated subsequent to an horizontally adductive movement with axis the shoulder joint. The right arm was the treated arm: it reached a test position actively, using minimal voluntary effort, or passively from each of 10 starting positions. The blindfolded S localized the index finger of the treated arm by attempting to touch it with the index finger of his left hand. The results indicate that subsequent to active movement the final position of a limb is more accurately known than a position resulting from passive movement. A second finding is that concomitant with both forms of limb placement there is a unidirectional drift of perceived limb position over trials.

The search for new psychodermatoglyphic correlations will greatly increase the possibilities of this method and will accelerate the introduction of scientific developments into the daily practice of clinicians, criminologists, police and other specialties. The purpose of the work is to establish the peculiarities of the relationship between the indexes of the finger and palmar dermatoglyphics and the characteristics of the personality traits of practically healthy Ukrainian men. From the data bank of the materials of the research center of National Pirogov Memorial Medical University, Vinnytsya were taken the primary questionnaires of indicators of personality characteristics and dermatoglyphic indicators of 92 practically healthy men residents of Podillia region of Ukraine in the third generation. Processing of indicators of finger and palmar dermatoglyphics was performed according to the method of Cummins H. and Midlo Ch. (1961) in the statement by Gladkova T. D. (1966). To assess the characteristics of personality characteristics we determined properties of temperament (according to Eysenck), anxiety (according to Spielberger), accentuated personality traits (according to Shmishek), motivational orientation of the personality (according to Rotter), as well as features of the emotional organization of personality, aggressiveness, level of personality manifestations (according to Luscher). Correlation analysis was performed in the “Statistica 6.1” license package using Pearson statistics. It has been established that in the majority of cases, indicators of personality traits and dermatoglyphic indices of almost healthy men show single direct and inverse, mostly weak forces (r=0.21 – 0.29 and r=-0.21 – -0.28, respectively) correlations. The multiple nature of such correlations is established only between the Luscher gray color index and the left hand I, III and IV fingers and the left hand I and II fingers ridge count, the total ridge count of both hands, the total ridge count and the left hand delta index (r=-0.23 – -0.28) and between most indicators by Rotter subjective scale and the presence of a pattern on the thenar of the corresponding palm (on the right hand – r=0.31 - 0.37 and on the left hand – r=0.22 - 0.29). The results of quantitative analysis of significant correlations showed that between the indexes of the finger dermatoglyphics and the indicators of personality traits according to Eysenck and Luscher, most relationships are inverse, and with Spielberger, Shmishek and Rotter – direct; between the indexes of the palmar dermatoglyphics and the indicators of personality traits according to Spielberger and Luscher, most reliable relationships are inverse, and with the indicators according to Eysenck, Shmishek and Rotter - direct. The results of the correlation analysis allowed us to determine the most significant relationships between the indexes of the finger and palmar dermatoglyphics and the characteristics of the personality traits of practically healthy Ukrainian men.

AbstractThe ratio of length between the second and fourth fingers (2D:4D) is commonly used as an indicator of prenatal sex hormone exposure. Several approaches have been used to try to validate the measure, including examining 2D:4D in people with congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH), a suite of conditions characterised by elevated adrenal androgen production secondary to defective steroidogenesis. We present here a systematic review that examines the relationship between these two variables. Twelve articles relating to nine CAH cohorts were identified, and 2D:4D comparisons have been made between cases and controls in eight of these cohorts. Altogether, at least one 2D:4D variable has been compared between n=251 females with CAH and n=358 unaffected females, and between n=108 males with CAH and n=204 unaffected males. A previous meta-analysis (Hönekopp & Watson, 2010) reported lower right hand (R2D:4D) and left hand (L2D:4D) digit ratios in patients with CAH relative to sex-matched controls. Our meta-analysis showed the same direction of results; however, the effects were only statistically significant for R2D:4D in males and L2D:4D in females (R2D:4D: females, p = 0.072, g = 0.591; males, p = 0.019, g = 0.513; L2D:4D: females, p = 0.020, g = 0.245; males, p = 0.334, g = 0.218), and the average effect size had reduced by 46.70%. We also found no evidence to suggest the right-left difference in 2D:4D (D[R-L]) is associated with prenatal sex hormone exposure.

<p>This paper aims to analyze the relationship between personality traits, customer-oriented behavior and job satisfaction. Focusing on the moderating role of job satisfaction in enhancing customer oriented behavior, the research was set in the context of Malaysian health tourism industry. The respondents consisted of nurses in health tourism hospitals in Malaysia. A quantitative cross sectional survey method was adopted, coupled with factor analysis and hierarchical regression analysis to analyze the collected data. The findings of this study revealed that extraversion and agreeableness were positively and significantly related to customer-oriented behaviour. Further, job satisfaction was found to be a quasi-moderator that interacted with extraversion to predict customer-oriented behavior. The findings of this research facilitate health tourism organizations to identify, recruit and train nurses who possess the right personality traits, structure the values of the organization and nurture a conducive work environment in order to maximize nurses’ job satisfaction that effectively improves their behavior towards customers and ultimately the performance of the firms.</p>

To investigate human motor programming, choice reaction times were measured on tasks for which subjects made choices between two alternative finger-tapping-movement sequences. The total-number-of-responses and the hierarchical editor models were tested. In Exp. 1 the choice was carried on the situations with the same total numbers of possible responses and different structural relations between alternative sequences. The right-hand reaction times in mirror choice (e.g., subject chose between the middle, index, and ring finger sequences of the left or right hand) were shorter than those in nonmirror choice (e.g., subject chose between the middle, index, and ring finger sequence on one hand and the middle, ring, and index finger sequence on the other hand); the total-number-of-responses model was not supported. In Exp. 2 two conditions had the same operation numbers of the hierarchical editor model. In Condition 1 subjects chose between the index finger of the right hand and the ring, index, and middle finger sequence of the left hand. In Condition 2 subjects chose between the index, ring, and middle finger sequences of the left or right hand. The reaction time in the former condition was shorter than that in the latter condition. Exp. 2 exhibited a counterexample of the hierarchical editor model that had been fairly robust in previous studies.

Music occupies a very important role in our lives. Music has been so helpful in many different ways; it has helped in changing our moods and also helped many to express themselves better through music. Music in India has undergone vast changes over generations. Since Vedic times, Indians were required to accurately recite the Vedas. This accuracy in recitation was essential as the Vedas were, in those days, transmitted through memory - Smriti and were learnt through hearing –Shruti. The kind of an emphasis applied on recitation and the right pronunciation lead to studies in phonetics and sound manipulation. The traditional Mizo musical instruments are very simple and crude in comparison to other Indian musical instruments and very out-dated to Modern Musical instruments. They can broadly be divided into three: Beating or Striking instruments; Wind instruments and String instruments. Using the Pearson‟s product movement correlation analysis, the four dimensions of music genres under the Short Test of Music Preferences scale (STOMP) - Reflexive and Complex, Intensive and Rebellious, Upbeat and Conventional and Energetic and Rhythmic and the big five personality traits were evaluated

We consider the relationship between three ways of defining graph derivability. That the traditional double-pushout approach and Banach's inward version are equivalent in the case of injective left-hand sides is proved in a purely categorical setting. In the case of noninjective left-hand sides, equivalence can be shown in special categories if the right-hand side is injective. Both approaches have the same generative power in the category of graphs if the pushout connecting the outward production with the inward one is a pullback as well. Finally, it is shown that Banach's point of view establishes a close relationship between the categorical approach and Kaplan's Δ-grammars, allowing a slight generalization of Δ-grammars and making them an operational description of the categorical approach.

We aimed to find out to what extent functional representations of different fingers of the two hands overlap at the human primary and secondary somatosensory cortices SI and SII. Somatosensory evoked fields (SEFs) were recorded with a 306-channel neuromagnetometer from 8 subjects. Tactile stimuli, produced by diaphragms driven by compressed air, were delivered to the fingertips in three different conditions. First, the right index finger was stimulated once every 2 s. Then two other stimuli were interspersed, in different sessions, to right- or left-hand fingers (thumb, middle finger, or ring finger) between the successive right index finger stimuli. Strengths of the responses to right index finger stimuli were evaluated in each condition. Responses to right index finger stimuli were modeled by three current dipoles, located at the contralateral SI and the SII cortices of both hemispheres. The earliest SI responses, peaking around 65 ms, were suppressed by 18% ( P < 0.05) when the intervening stimuli were presented to the same hand; intervening stimuli to the other hand had no effect. The SII responses were bilaterally suppressed by intervening stimuli presented to either hand: in the left SII, the suppression was 39 and 42% ( P < 0.01) and in the right SII 67 and 72% ( P < 0.001) during left- and right-sided intervening stimuli, respectively. Left- and right-sided intervening stimuli affected similarly the SII responses and had no effect on the response latencies. The results indicate a strong and symmetric overlap of finger representations for both hands in the human SII cortices, and a weaker functional overlap for fingers of the same hand in the SI cortex.

AbstractA simultaneous double dislocation (both proximal [PIP] and distal [DIP] interphalangeal joints) of a triphalangeal finger is a rare entity. The most common hand affected is the right hand. In the case of a closed triple dislocation (metacarpophalangeal [MCP], PIP and DIP joints); there are only two cases in the literature revised. In this case, we report an open triple dislocation in the index finger of the left-hand of a 54-year-old man treated by closed reduction and 3 weeks of immobilization followed by active mobilization with satisfactory results. Organic musical instrument Uyup-uyup consists of fiveparts, namely rice stalks, coconut leaves and lidi as a binder of coconut leaves. The game techniquein the uyup-uyup instrument is divided into the first three sections that are played in a sitting /standing position, the second way of blowing uyup-uyup is by way of the mouth is placed at thebase of the top of the uyup-uyup instrument, the third position of the finger finger, first startingfrom the left hand with the beginning of the index finger and the second hole of the middle fingerand then on the right hand begins with the index finger and the hole of both middle fingers.
