This study focuses on identifying the problems faced by visually impaired students in teaching-learning  process of English syntax course at Faculty of Humanities, Dian Nuswantoro University in 2014. English syntax, as one of the subjects studied in the English study program, is considered as a challenging subject for visually impaired students as it involves visual perception, such as graphics and images. This research was a descriptive qualitative one. The researchers collected the data by using an in-depth interview. This involved 2 visually impaired students who experienced the learning process of English syntax and 3 lecturers of Dian Nuswantoro University. The discussion was limited on the issues around the needs for creating an accessible learning media and kinds of difficulties faced by the visually impaired students. From the in-depth interview, there are three major findings that are highlighted: a) the needs to overcome all inaccessible English syntax learning materials; b) general difficulties faced by visually impaired students in English syntax subject; c) technical difficulties in drawing tree structure diagrams. Then, these highlighted problems and findings are used as to formulate the recommendations of this study.

This study seeks to recognize teachers’ lived experiences about teaching-learning process in multi-grade classes. The approach of the study is qualitative under the rubric of phenomenological studies. The statistical population consisted of the teachers of multi-grade classes in a non-prosperous province and a prosperous one. 14 teachers were selected using criterion sampling technique for an interview. The interviews were recorded and transcribed with the interviewees’ permission; and they were analyzed using Creswell data analysis. In order to evaluate the validity of the questions, the viewpoints of experts in the field of educational sciences as well as some teachers experienced in multi-grade classes were taken into account. The reliability was approved through examination by the participants and asking from counterparts. The results showed that teachers of multi-grade classes in both provinces had similar views on using teaching methods, determining learning activities and grouping methods. However, they did not have the same views on determining the type of learning materials and resources. The results show that in multi-grade classes various teaching methods such as peer teaching and integrated teaching, leading resources and materials such as the local community, nature, and discarded materials and objects, different grouping methods such as adjacent grouping, row grouping, and sex grouping, and finally various learning activities including self learning and peer learning are utilized. Multi-grade teachers in the two provinces have similar viewpoints regarding teaching methods, learning activities, and grouping methods, but are of different viewpoints on kinds of learning materials and resources.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh gambaran tentang (a) perubahan unsur-unsur cerpen, (b) karakter para tokoh dalam cerpen, dan (c) nilai-nilai humanis dalam cerpen sebagai alternatif bahan pembelajaran apresiasi sastra. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis konten dengan pendekatan psikologi sastra. Tahapan penelitian dilakukan dengan studi dokumentasi, yaitu diawali dengan mempelajari teori, lalu mengumpulkan cerpen-cer pen yang monu mental dari ma jalah Hori son, kemudian menganalisisnya, melakukan uji coba, dan menyimpulkan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perkembangan unsur-unsur cerpen: ditemukan berbagai karakter dalam tokoh cerita serta ditemukan juga nilai-nilai luhur dalam cerpen yang dapat diaplikasikan dalam pembelajaran di kelas. Cerpen-cerpen tersebut dapat dijadikan bahan pembelajaran sastra yang menyenangkan bagi siswa dan berguna bagi kehidupan sehari-hari masyarakat.Abstract:This study is aimed at obtaining the description of (a) the changes in the elements of short stories, (b)  a picture of  the characters in short story, and (c)  a picture of humanist values in short story as an alternative learning materials of literary appreciation. This study uses content analysis to psychology literature approach. The stage of the  research is conducted by studying the related theory, collecting short stories from the Horison magazine, and analyzing, conducting trials and error,  and making conclusion. The results of research  shows that there is  the develop- ment of the elements of the short story: finding a variety of  characters and great value in the story that can be applied to the teaching-learning process in the classroom as a fun learning materials for students of literature and useful for everyday social life.

The aim of this research was to develop English learning materials based on task-based learning in the form of handout for nursing study program students at STIKES Aufa Royhan Padangsidimpuan. In the development process, this research used to: 1) identify the needs of teaching/learning Englishof the students; 2) develop English learning materials based on task-based learning; 3) find out the experts’ judgments about the developed handout; 4) find out the users’ perceptions about the developed handout. Research method was Research and Development (R&D). ADDIE model used to develop the handout. The result of needs analysis indicated the students needed to learn English language use in the nursing context. Then appropriate handout of English for Nursing was developed based on the result of needs analysis. Based on the experts judgments and users’ perception, the developed handout are categorized valid, effective, and practical.

To be good a teacher, a teacher must incessantly improve her/his teaching practice and skill/knowledge to produce and keep the academic quality. Mechanically, a teacher requires to concern a particular method/ technique or strategy and use a certain tool/type to fulfill the benchamark of excellence in teaching. Hence, reflection is substantial as one of the indispensable approaches that can be practiced to direct teacher’s performance becomes more experienced. In teaching, the term reflection refers to the opportunity of teachers to think back critically after the teaching-learning process. Previous studies that have been conducted to observe the efficiency of teacher journal in the education field. Conversely, only a few kinds research explored teacher’s perceptions toward the utilization of the teacher’s journal. Likewise, this research was located in Indonesia and engage an in-service EFL teacher of Junior High School to accomplish the gap. It intended at determining the parts reflected from the teacher journal. Moreover, to investigate the research problems, the researcher used an in-depth interview to explore the teacher’s experience in utilizing teacher diary. Consequently, this study employed a qualitative method since it was considered as the appropriate design to accomplish the research. The researcher concluded that the teacher has a positive perceptions related to the teacher’s diary/teacher’s journal. It gives precious involvement for English teachers to be more experienced and professional to help students in mastering English skills and help the teacher to do reflection in order to make a better teaching practice for the next English teaching.

The study aims at knowing the use of technology in teaching learning process of pre-service teachers of English Study Program of Universitas PGRI Semarang. The subjects of the study are the eight semester students which are Pre-service teachers of the English Study Program of Universitas PGRI Semarang in the academic year 2018/2019. The instrument used in the study is questionnaire. The techniques used in the study are sharing the questionnaire to the eight semester students through WhatsApp to know what kinds of technology used by them are and interview to know how their perception of the use of technology in teaching learning process is. The qualitative data are analyzed by reducing the data, classifying the data and drawing conclusion. The result of the study shows that Pre-service teachers tend to use same kinds of technology in teaching learning process, and they have an opinion that technology is really important for the teachers and for students.

The COVID-19 pandemic has spread worldwide, including Indonesia. The Indonesian government recommends all citizens to stay at home and to work and study from home. Therefore, most universities have implemented e-learning in their teaching and learning process. This research focused on the effect of e-learning on students’ interest and learning at the varsity level. Quantitative research methods were used. The data were collected from 176 students from two private universities in Medan, Sumatera Utara. The findings were that e-learning enabled the students to access the global world and distribute learning materials through WhatsApp. Assignments were marked promptly and e-learning helped students to set their own schedule. E-learning motivated the students to do their own work without others’ help, but the students did not agree that e-learning enhanced the quality of the teaching-learning process. This article describes the process followed to test software, the result of the first stage of an investigation, which aims to be a support tool for people with visual disabilities to improve their experience in learning mathematics. An analysis is made of the current situation in the country and the world of people with disabilities who wish to continue their studies at a high school or higher level, but who have found as main obstacles not having enough bibliography in Braille, or teachers not They have the means to generate content that visually impaired students can use in the same way as their classmates. Now with the Covid-19 pandemic there was a rebound in the use of educational platforms and distance education, leaving aside people with visual disabilities. We present the results of surveys applied to people with visual disabilities who participated using the software to evaluate their experience as users and their opinions to improve interaction with it. The objective of this study is to make people with visual disabilities feel included in regular educational environments, reducing the barriers that they may encounter in the teaching-learning process in the classroom, and converting them into inclusive classrooms.
