The concept of nomophobia was formed with the abbreviation of “No Mobile Phone Phobia”. Nomophobia means that people experience anxiety and fear when they are deprived of their mobile phones. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between adolescents' nomophobia levels and trait anxiety, basic psychological needs and happiness. This study is a relational screening model which is one of the quantitative research methods. 561 adolescents (349 female and 212 male) consisted the study group. “Nomophobia Scale (NMP-Q)”, “Trait Anxiety Inventory”, “The Basic Psychological Need Scale” and “Short Form of the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire” were used to collect data in the study. Pearson correlation coefficientwas calculated to reveal the relationship between the variables and multiple linear regression analysis which is one of the predictive techniques, were used. According to the results of the analysis, there was significant relation between nomophobia and basic psychological needs satisfaction, trait anxiety, happiness.It was found that the predictor variables together accounted for 10% the variance. According to the significance tests of the regression coefficients, only traitanxiety was significant predictor of nomophobia. ​Extended English summary is in the end of Full Text PDF (TURKISH) file.   Özet “No Mobile Phone Phobia” kelimelerinin kısaltmasıyla ortaya çıkan nomofobi kavramı kişilerin cep telefonlarından yoksun kaldıkları durumlarda kaygı ve korku yaşamaları anlamına gelmektedir. Bu araştırmanın amacı ergenlerin nomofobi düzeyleri ile sürekli kaygıları, temel psikolojik ihtiyaçları ve mutluluk düzeyleri arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektir. Bu araştırmada nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden ilişkisel tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Çalışma grubunu 349’u kız 212’si erkek olmak üzere toplamda 561 ergenoluşturmuştur. Araştırmanın verileri “Nomofobi Yaygınlığı Ölçeği”, “Sürekli Kaygı Ölçeği”, “Temel Psikolojik İhtiyaçlar Ölçeği”  ve “Oxford Mutluluk Ölçeği Kısa Formu” ile toplanmıştır.  Araştırmada değişkenler arasındaki ilişkiyi ortaya koymak amacıyla Pearson korelasyon katsayısı hesaplanmış ile yordayıcı tekniklerden çoklu doğrusal regresyon analizi kullanılmıştır. Analiz sonuçlarına göre nomofobi ile sürekli kaygı, temel psikolojik ihtiyaçlar ve mutluluk düzeyleri arasında anlamlı ilişkiler olduğu görülmüştür. Yapılan çoklu doğrusal regresyon analizine göre sürekli kaygı, temel psikolojik ihtiyaçlar ve mutluluk değişkenlerinin birlikte nomofobinin yaklaşık olarak %10’unu açıkladığı tespit edilmiştir. Regresyon katsayılarının anlamlılık testlerine göre yalnızca sürekli kaygının nomofobiyi anlamlı şekilde yordadığı belirlenmiştir.

Considering the significance of resilience in coping with adversity, how to improve college students’ resilience is worthy of attention. Previous studies have revealed that physical activity can promote resilience; however, few studies examined the mediating factors between them. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of physical activity on resilience, as well as the mediating effects of competence need, autonomy need, and relatedness need between physical activity and resilience. The study involved 2375 college students (1110 males and 1265 females), with an average age of 20.25 years (SD = 2.04). Participants completed the International Physical Activity Questionnaire Short Form, Basic Needs Satisfaction in General Scale, and Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale. Results showed that physical activity was positively associated with resilience, and the three basic needs played significant mediating roles between physical activity and resilience. The indirect effect of competence need was significantly greater than that of autonomy need and relatedness need. To conclude, physical activity plays an important role in resilience among college students, and the satisfaction of competence, autonomy, and relatedness needs mediates the relationship between physical activity and resilience, among which, competence need appears as the strongest mediator.

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between high school students’ emotional and personality-related career decision-making difficulties (EPCD), perception of social support and basic psychological needs. The predictive effect of social support perception and basic psychological needs on EPCD will also be examined. In addition, it has been examined whether emotional and personality-related career decision-making difficulties differ according to some demographic variables. In this research, survey model was used. For collecting data, Personal information form; the EPCD-short form; New Psychological Needs Assessment Scale, were used. The data obtained in this research were analyzed using SPSS (20). In the analysis of the data, descriptive statistics, independent groups t-test, ANOVA test, and correlation and regression analysis technique were used. In addition, a significant correlation was found between the mean scores of the students on the career difficulties, and the perceived social support, and the autonomy and the achievement. The findings were discussed as a part of the relevant literature and suggestions based on the findings were included.

Many couples transitioning into parenthood are at risk for dyadic adjustment declines. It is therefore important to explore key, theory-driven deterrents of enduring relationships during this period, as well as potential underlying mechanisms. This study examined the relationship between perceived conditional negative regard (i.e. a behavior that thwarts basic psychological needs; T1), stress (T1), and dyadic adjustment (T2) during the transition to parenthood. Primiparous couples ( N = 144) were recruited to fill out an online questionnaire when their babies were 6-months (T1) and 12-months (T2). Path analysis with an Actor-Partner Interdependence Mediation Model was conducted. Results show that for each partner (actor effects), stress (T1) mediated the link between perceived conditional negative regard (T1), and later dyadic adjustment (T2). For the partner effects, while stress (T1) did not play a mediating role between these variables, other partner effects were found. Each primiparous parent’s perceived conditional negative regard (T1) was associated with the other parent’s later dyadic adjustment (T2). However, when examining longitudinal changes in stress and dyadic adjustment over time (T2, controlling for respective T1), no significant associations were found. Overall, the findings shed light on the dyadic associations of conditional negative regard, and the mechanisms through which it is negatively tied with dyadic adjustment during the transition to parenthood.

I explored the relationships among shyness, loneliness, and cell phone dependence (CPD) in college students, with a special focus on the mediating effect of loneliness in the relationship between shyness and CPD. Participants were 593 students recruited from a college in Henan, China, and they completed the Cheek and Buss Shyness Scale, the UCLA Loneliness Scale–Short Form, and the Mobile Phone Addiction Index. The results show that shyness was significantly correlated with both loneliness and CPD, and that loneliness partially mediated the effect of shyness on CPD. These findings shed light on how shyness predicts CPD and have implications for preventing CPD in college students.

Numerous studies in sports science have investigated the relationships between coaching behavior, basic psychological needs, and intention to continue to exercise in sport participants in order to promote their continued exercise participation. However, little is known about the effect of the coach’s decision-making style on sport participants’ basic psychological needs and intention to continue to exercise. Thus, this study empirically investigated the relationship between these three variables. For this purpose, a survey was given to a convenience sample of 200 members of amateur male soccer clubs in Seoul and Gyeonggi, Korea. The results of multiple regression analysis showed that the type of coach that makes decisions based on a thorough analysis and reasonable evaluation of all possible solutions had a greater effect on the satisfaction of basic psychological needs and a greater effect on intention to continue to exercise in soccer club members than the types of coaches who use other styles of decision making in coaching. In addition, the intention to continue to exercise in soccer club members was higher when they voluntarily participated in soccer activities and when they made a strong emotional bond with the people they were exercising with. The findings of this study may provide the basic data on the coaches’ decision-making style needed to improve sport participants’ internal motivation and to stimulate their intention to continue to exercise.
