MDM is a trade cooperative that has a business unit that provides healthy food for consumers around the Andalas University campus. So far, the selection of suppliers who supply goods to stores is only based on the trust of both parties, the principles of mutual acquaintance and kinship. The problems that arise from a process like this are the lack of the right supplier so that goods are not available all the time, relatively higher prices, late delivery and sometimes there are goods with poor quality. Therefore we need a GDSS that is able to overcome these problems. This GDSS helps decision making in determining the right supplier to the stores owned by MDM Cooperative. The methods used are AHP, TOPSIS and BORDA involving six criteria and five tested alternatives. This GDSS also involves three decision makers, namely the head of the cooperative, the deputy and the treasurer. The results of this prototype are able to show the best alternative that is selected based on the ranking results.

One method of evaluating the procurement is a merit point system (value system). In a merit point system price is one of the evaluation criteria, with the understanding that the more complex technical requirements and the more difficult to compare bid proposals, the lower the price weights. In general, the total value for technical bids is higher than price bids. At the auction using the merit point system, there are two main things that greatly affect the results of procurement, namely the determination of technical weighting and the price that will be used when evaluating bids and the method of weighing technical bids. When this is done correctly and appropriately, the company will get the right contractor in accordance with needs and can avoid the opportunity to commit fraud or corruption in the process of procurement. For this reason, the authors conduct research on the determination of technical weight and price as well as the method of weighting technical offerings with a case study of the selection of contracting IPM Geothermal Drilling through the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) approach where the results of the study indicate that the AHP can assist the Procurement Planner to determine the technical weight and price as a reference for evaluating bids through the Merit Point System. AHP also helps the Procurement Implementer to rank technical bids during the technical evaluation. Keywords: merit point system, analytical hierarchy process, IPM Geothermal Drilling

Raw materials are basic need for manufacturing companies to facilitate the production process. Therefore, supplier selection process is an important process for the company, because by choosing the right suppliers of raw materials will benefit the company. To choose the right supplier is also determined by the decision taken by the decision maker (DM). In addition, the weight of DM assessment will differ on different criteria because DM experts in a particular field are not necessarily experts in other fields. Therefore, in this paper is discussed about the measurement of the weight of each criterion and alternative to choose the best supplier alternative using AHP method. In addition, this paper also measures the consistency of DM in making decisions using expertise level models.

Earthwork processes are the most costly and time consuming component of construction these days and they are characterized by a powerful heavy mechanization which participate on the earthwork process. Current pressure for minimize the cost and maximize the productivity highlights the need to optimize earthworks. In this paper, the optimization process in the area of earthwork processes is described. The selection of the right types of machines for earthwork and its implements has become very difficult these days because of availability of variety of machines models and therefore a multicriteria method is presented to tackle the problem. This paper describes methodology for optimizing the earthwork process according to the selected optimal criteria. The methodology is focused on the proposal phase of optimization where the decision maker has to make a decision and choose the right type of excavators. To overcome the problem of comparing the chosen machines a mathematical modeling approach leading to multicriteria optimization was adopted to make the step wise decision. The methodology gives an mathematical models by which we can solve this problem.

Numerous leak detection systems (LDS) using a variety of technologies are on the market. Since LDS are designed for a particular use, then the evaluation and selection process requires suitable metrics and involvement from all stakeholders. This paper proposes to use15 criteria for selection of LDS. Each criterion is first rated for their importance by a number of experts. Then, the same experts are asked to rate a list of candidate LDSs. Fuzzy TOPSIS is used to aggregate Experts’ judgment. A case study is presented to demonstrate the application of the method. This method would indicate how a good compromise might look like. This could aid the decision-maker to weigh options and set priority and decide on a system.

Purpose – This paper aims to put forward a group multicriteria supplier selection model to select suppliers adequate to companies needs in food industries. Selecting the right suppliers has become a strategic problem for firms. This decision should take into account several factors, which involve both quantitative and qualitative considerations and, usually, includes many interested parties. Design/methodology/approach – The proposed model consists of two phases. Initially,a survey of food industries in Brazil was carried out so as to identify the factors that should be considered in the supplier selection decision process. In the second step,a selection model was developed, based on these findings and the factors identified, and an application of the model was conducted. Findings – This model uses criteria that are important for the food industries in Brazil and, considering this criteria, helps companies to select the adequate suppliers to their needs. Additionally, the model considers the preferences of the managers who actively participate in the process. Originality/value – The model helps the company in the selection of suppliers,as it is very important for the corporation to have partnerships with suppliers who can adequately meet its needs. Additionally,a group method was applied, which allows all the managers that will be affected by this decision to participate.

Abstract: Background The major cause of disease and even human death are bacteria. Disinfectant is widely used in various ways as an effective agent to kill or eliminate bacteria, especially in the microbial laboratory. The most commonly used disinfectants in the laboratory are ethanol, bleach, and hand soap. This study assessed the effect of the common cleaning agents against bacteria. Methodology It was an experimental study on disinfectant efficacy of ethanol, bleach, and antibacterial handwashing soap on surface disinfection. Sampling was carried out between April and June of 2017. The samples were collected from our lady of Consolata kisubi hospital which is located on Nkima Road- Kisubi, Wakiso, Uganda. The samples collected were obtained from the hospital surfaces like door handles, beds, random floors, toilets, and work surfaces before and after cleaning. Results 64 samples were collected from 32 sites. The selected nosocomial organism in the study included E.coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Among the selected disinfectants, ethanol was the most effective against the available selected nosocomial organisms. Conclusion Bacteria is present on so many surfaces of the hospital, and the selection of appropriate cleaning agents is vital to achieve maximum cleaning. Bleach and liquid soap should not be used in combination if cleaning different surfaces in the hospital due to the effects of the inorganic compounds that might be present in the liquid soap that inactivates active ingredients used present in the Bleach. Recommendation The hospital should come up with a minimum inhibitory concentration of the disinfectants that is effective to be used. The support staff in charge of cleaning should be trained on the right way of cleaning and disinfecting.
