AbstractIntrapersonal competencies form the foundation of one’s development, and they are fundamental qualities of leadership competences. Four types of intelligence are highlighted in the literature of positive psychology: intelligence quotient (IQ), emotional intelligence quotient (EQ), adversity quotient (AQ) and spiritual intelligence quotient (SQ). It is argued that these competences are important in a service leader. Through this lecture, it is expected that students will understand the basic concepts and the importance of different intrapersonal competencies (IQ, EQ, AQ and SQ). We also discuss the relationship between these intrapersonal competencies and effective service leadership. Finally, ways to promote different intrapersonal competencies are depicted.

This study uses a research design with an associative quantitative approach. Data was collected through documentation and online questionnaires. This study used a sample of 39 respondents with the determination of the sample size using the saturated sample formula. Partial least square is applied to examine the relationship between teacher performance, job satisfaction, emotional intelligence and intellectual intelligence. The results of this study indicate that of the seven hypotheses developed there are two accepted hypotheses, that is, for the effect of emotional intelligence on job satisfaction, it is obtained that the results of a significant effect and the influence of spiritual intelligence on teacher performance are also obtained significant results. Meanwhile, the other 5 hypotheses developed were not significant. Through the findings of this study, it is hoped that it can provide additional information for various parties, especially the school, to pay attention to the factors that affect teacher performance and job satisfaction, so that teachers gain comfort and confidence to continue to improve their performance in implementing learning in schools.

It is generally believed that people with high I.Q. (Intelligence Quotient) better accomplish in life. But some recent researches indicate that people’s EI (emotional intelligence) and SI (spiritual intelligence) might be greater predictors of success than their I.Q. (Goleman, 1995). ‘EI’ is the ability to monitor one’s own and other’s feelings and emotions, to discriminate among them and to use this information to guide one’s thinking and actions. ‘Spirituality’ is the basic feeling of being connected with one’s complete self, others, and the entire universe. This study reviewed the previous researches which explored association between emotional intelligence and spirituality. Sample size is 40 published articles, over the period 1998-2012. Findings of this study are EI and SI is associated with lower level of stress and better health outcomes and has a positive impact on psychological as well as physical health functioning, and also plays a better role in context of education and organization.

Emotional Intelligence (EI) has been established as an essential component in success, along with Intelligence Quotient (IQ). Emotional Intelligence is vital in making or maintaining Job Engagement (JE). Dealing with different emotions daily, nurses with low EI are prone to compassion fatigue and job disengagement. Job engagement is essential in ensuring that the quality of care rendered is high, and the patient’s safety is guaranteed. Emotional Intelligence plays a vital role in making sure that nurses have a sense of purpose and, in turn, making them more engaged in their daily duties and responsibilities. Hence, this paper describes the level of Emotional Intelligence and Job Engagement of Nurses in Level 1 District Hospitals in Negros Occidental. Likewise, it explores the relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Job Engagement of nurses’ demographics and the factors that made them stay in the nursing service. Also, it determines the correlation of EI and JE of nurses; and whether EI affects the level of JE.

Studies investigating the COVID-19 pandemic from a psychological point of view have mostly focused on psychological distress. This study adopts the framework of existential positive psychology, a second wave of positive psychology that emphasizes the importance of effective coping with the negative aspects of living in order to achieve greater wellbeing. Trait emotional intelligence (trait EI) can be crucial in this context as it refers to emotion-related personality dispositions concerning the understanding and regulation of one’s emotions and those of others. The present study investigated the relationship between trait EI and both wellbeing and psychological distress (i.e., depression, anxiety, and stress), while exploring the mediating role of meaning-centered coping (proactive transformative strategies based on meaning in life) and maladaptive coping (i.e., behavioral disengagement and self-blame) during the first few months of the COVID-19 pandemic. A sample of 326 Lebanese adults completed measures of trait EI, wellbeing, psychological distress, coping, and meaning-centered coping. Results showed a strong positive correlation between trait EI and meaning-centered coping. Trait EI also correlated positively with wellbeing and negatively with psychological distress. Structural equation modeling showed that meaning-centered coping partially mediated the relationship between trait EI and wellbeing. Maladaptive coping fully mediated the relationship between trait EI and psychological distress. Findings indicate that trait EI is positively related to dealing with a stressful situation such as the pandemic in positive ways at both the cognitive level, by reformulating the situation to see something valuable in it, and behavioral level, by being proactive about it. Trait EI was positively linked to seeing the situation as an opportunity for personal growth, finding personal meaning in this situation, maintaining an attitude of hope and courage, and acting more responsibly with one’s self and others during the current crisis. In turn, this coping formula was related to lower psychological distress and improved mental health. These results are consistent with the existential positive psychology framework and can inform implementation programs and policies aiming at raising awareness and promoting healthy and successful coping during the pandemic.

The purpose of the present study is to investigate the relationship between spiritual intelligence and emotional intelligence with resilience in undergraduate (BA) students. The population of the study included all students of Payam Noor University in Ghorveh during 2016-2017 academic years. According to the principles of statistical methodology for correlational studies, 100 students from different disciplines were selected as sample of the study using simple random sampling method. In this research, King's Spiritual Intelligence Questionnaire, Bar-Ann 90-questions Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire, and Conner and Davison resilience questionnaire were used. Descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regressions) were used to analyze the data. The results of this study showed that there is a significant positive correlation between spiritual intelligence and emotional intelligence and resilience. Regression coefficients showed that spiritual intelligence and emotional intelligence predict 53.9% of the variation in resiliency.
