AbstractThe Internet of Vehicle (IoV) is an extension of Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communication that can improve vehicles’ fully autonomous driving capabilities. However, these communications are vulnerable to many attacks. Therefore, it is critical to provide run-time mechanisms to detect malware and stop the attackers before they manage to gain a foothold in the system. Anomaly-based detection techniques are convenient and capable of detecting off-nominal behavior by the component caused by zero-day attacks. One significant critical aspect when using anomaly-based techniques is ensuring the correct definition of the observed component’s normal behavior. In this paper, we propose using the task’s temporal specification as a baseline to define its normal behavior and identify temporal thresholds that give the system the ability to predict malicious tasks. By applying our solution on one use-case, we got temporal thresholds 20–40 % less than the one usually used to alarm the system about security violations. Using our boundaries ensures the early detection of off-nominal temporal behavior and provides the system with a sufficient amount of time to initiate recovery actions.

The methodological issues of ensuring the economic sustainability of enterprises, as one of the key goals of modern industrial business, have long been the focus of attention of scientists and researchers, not only because of their importance, but also because of some internal inconsistency that does not allow them to be considered finally resolved. On the one hand, sustainability presupposes stability, some conservatism in the development of the enterprise and this aspect of it requires the application of measures that prevent a sharp change in economic conditions. Attract the attention of researchers and have not yet received their final scientific, methodological and practical solution. It should be believed that the solution of this task, which is important for each industrial enterprise in a market economy, can be found in the case of: (a) the correct definition of business development directions in terms of its diversification and expansion (external dimension); b) determination of such economic conditions that can ensure an equilibrium state of the enterprise’s economy, characterized by a certain set of parameters of the activity of its main subsystems (internal measurement) and c) implementation of the algorithm of periodic controlled withdrawal of the enterprise from the state of stability for transition to a new level of development and stabilization of its socio-economic parameters in the intervals between such fluctuations. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to attempt to resolve this contradiction in terms of developing a set of solutions to create conditions for the progressive dynamics of industrial enterprises that do not impede, but complement, the installation to maintain stability within acceptable limits. For this, the scientific and methodological apparatus of business modeling, modern concepts of organization and management is involved, as well as innovations in the best practice of sustainable development of industrial enterprises are used. The result of the study is a tree of goals for ensuring the economic sustainability of a modern industrial enterprise, revealing the internal dimension of the problem under study and practical recommendations.

The article is devoted to the "taiga law" in the works of V. p. Astafiev, which is shown by the writer as a real concept existing in Siberia. The "taiga law" is noted in the literature and attracted the attention of literary critics, but the researchers did not turn to him, analyzing the work of the writer. In the ecological prose of V. P. Astafiev the significant place (and in some texts central one) to the code of the people's ecology, centuries-old and passed from generation to generation, as well as to the environmental symbol of the Siberian culture. The law includes the relation of man to man in the taiga existence and the relation of man to flora and fauna. Contrary to popular belief it is shown that the texts of V.P. Astafiev presented as a critical aspect of ecology (ecocriticism) and positive. The work is done in line with the ideas of cognitive linguistics, taking into account the conditionality of the literary text of the author's linguistic picture of the world, in the works of writers-villagers it is associated with a regional component. "Taiga law" is a regional mental concept that is waiting to be considered within the definition of "Siberian text". How the lexical unit "the law of the taiga" refers to the environmental vocabulary (Koslova). The article focuses on the features of the concept functioning as a sign- formator (W. Weinreich). In the article, the 10 components of the transformer are identified in the texts of the writer. This "unwritten" law, it exists in oral form, so has traits in common with folkloric elements: the writer, the nomination is presented in two variants (the "law of the taiga" and "strong law") is uncertain semantic scope, emotionally expressive painted. The spatial component of "taiga" is important in the nomination structure. This is an axiological concept based on evaluation, carrying a number of direct and hidden prohibitions. "Taiga law" appears in the texts of V. p. Astafiev, on the one hand, as organizing the beginning of the daily life of Siberians, on the other, as the cause of conflicts. In fiction texts creates tensions of the text, organizing the conflict both interpersonal and social. In some texts, the "taiga law" performs a plot-forming function. The results of the study essential for the theory of environmental prose, add a new element in the philological studies of Astafiev’s legacy.

The goal of this paper is to show how criminology can align its development prospects as a theory of crime prevention and counteraction with the fate of the country, with its near and distant future. In order to achieve this, it is necessary to work out, on the one hand, a correct definition of its object, theoretical and practical methodology and, on the other hand, the subject field of competencies acceptable for the society and the state. The future of criminology lies not only in meeting the challenges of today and tomorrow, but also in implementing new prospective directions for its development, in a better definition and description of some expectations, in predicting the achievement of possibly not final, but at least distant results when working out its theoretical and practical clauses and in developing «Criminology» as a theory of preventing and counteracting crimes, because its scope will be understood to be much wider and deeper than in the classical version still dominant today. It is necessary to increase professional attention as the forms and scale of crimes have changed greatly recently, and they do not in fact fit the traditional criminal law sphere because they develop according to their own logic and, in many aspects, beyond the competencies of contemporary criminology. It is claimed that in the last decades the spheres of influence for criminals have increased because of the political, environmental and banking lawlessness all over the world, including in our country, as it has coalesced with the authorities and occupied everything that it deemed to be interesting and useful and, thus, outlined a new rather wide subject field for criminology. In this connection, it is necessary to develop a criminology of the future. It includes not only the development of the theory of criminology proper, but, primarily, the implementation of the lifestyle principles, of building and providing for a life based on lawful behavior through the development of individual, public and universal, cosmically sanctified, consciousness. This approach to determining the future of criminology is considered by the author to be more adequate and dignified in the existing circumstances than «crawling away» into the essentially criminal «professional doghouse» disguised as a new doctrine of criminology.

An advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) is the premium technology for autonomous driving. It uses data from vision/camera systems, data from in vehicle sensors, and data from vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) or Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) communication systems. The next generation systems even autonomous vehicles are expected to use the V2V information to increase the safety for non-line of sight environments. Exchanging some data like vehicle position, speed, status etc., helps to the driver about potential problems, or to avoid collisions. In this paper, a V2V communication system module is designed and tested on the vehicles.

In the article some problems of the theory of functions of constitutional and legal responsibility are researched. The relationshipbetween the goals, objectives and functions of constitutional legal responsibility, the functions of the Constitution, the functions of constitutionallaw, the functions of the state and the like is substantiated.Exploring the problems of constitutional and legal responsibility, it is necessary to proceed from a methodological position onunderstanding the functions of legal responsibility in general and the functions of constitutional and legal responsibility in particular,as an active way of constitutional and legal responsibility, directions and forms of its impact on public relationship, the content of thistype of legal responsibility, its purpose in society and the state, as well as its place in the system of protection of the Constitution andthe constitutional order.Equally important in creating a holistic theory of the functions of constitutional responsibility is the consideration and relationshipof the category “function of constitutional responsibility” and phenomena such as “objectives of constitutional responsibility”,“tasks of constitutional and legal responsibility” and “principles of constitutional and legal responsibility”. Certain theoretical differencesin the definition of these essentially different and, at the same time, interconnected categories give rise to significant contradictionsand conflicts in constitutional theory and legislative practice. They can be overcome only by creating a holistic system of conceptsin which the concept of “function of constitutional and legal responsibility” will occupy a clearly defined place. It is concluded that the concept of “functions of constitutional and legal responsibility”, on the one hand, and the concept of“functions of the Constitution”, “functions of constitutional law”, “functions of the state”, “functions of subjects of constitutional law”,on the other hand, are mutually related. Consequently, this issue of scientific research is relevant and practically significant both interms of the theory of constitutional law and its institutions, primarily the theory of constitutional and legal responsibility, and theapplied aspect, primarily in the context of formation and implementation of legal personality of subjects in constitutional and legal relationship, first of all, bodies and officials of state power and local self-government.It is argued that its functionality and effectiveness depend on the correct definition of the goals and objectives of constitutionalresponsibility.

In truck platooning, the leading vehicle is driven manually, and the following vehicles run by autonomous driving, with the short inter-vehicle distance between trucks. To successfully perform platooning in various situations, each truck must maintain dynamic stability, and furthermore, the whole system must maintain string stability. Due to the short front-view range, however, the following vehicles’ path planning capabilities become significantly impaired. In addition, in platooning with articulated cargo trucks, the off-tracking phenomenon occurring on a curved road makes it hard for the following vehicle to track the trajectory of the preceding truck. In addition, without knowledge of the global coordinate system, it is difficult to correlate the local coordinate systems that each truck relies on for sensing environment and dynamic signals. In this paper, in order to solve these problems, a path planning algorithm for platooning of articulated cargo trucks has been developed. Using the Kalman filter, V2V (Vehicle-to-Vehicle) communication, and a novel update-and-conversion method, each following vehicle can accurately compute the trajectory of the leading vehicle’s front part for using it as a target path. The path planning algorithm of this paper was validated by simulations on severe driving scenarios and by tests on an actual road. The results demonstrated that the algorithm could provide lateral string stability and robustness for truck platooning.

Abstract. The article discusses the emergence of a functional literacy construct and the rediscovery of illiteracy in industrialized countries during the second half of the 20th century. It offers a short explanation of how the construct evolved over time. In addition, it explores how functional (il)literacy is conceived differently by research discourses of cognitive and neural studies, on the one hand, and by prescriptive and normative international policy documents and adult education, on the other hand. Furthermore, it analyses how literacy skills surveys such as the Level One Study (leo.) or the PIAAC may help to bridge the gap between cognitive and more practical and educational approaches to literacy, the goal being to place the functional illiteracy (FI) construct within its existing scale levels. It also sheds more light on the way in which FI can be perceived in terms of different cognitive processes and underlying components of reading. By building on the previous work of other authors and previous definitions, the article brings together different views of FI and offers a perspective for a needed operational definition of the concept, which would be an appropriate reference point for future educational, political, and scientific utilization.

This book is an examination of Britain as a democratic society; what it means to describe it as such; and how we can attempt such an examination. The book does this via a number of ‘case-studies’ which approach the subject in different ways: J.M. Keynes and his analysis of British social structures; the political career of Harold Nicolson and his understanding of democratic politics; the novels of A.J. Cronin, especially The Citadel, and what they tell us about the definition of democracy in the interwar years. The book also investigates the evolution of the British party political system until the present day and attempts to suggest why it has become so apparently unstable. There are also two chapters on sport as representative of the British social system as a whole as well as the ways in which the British influenced the sporting systems of other countries. The book has a marked comparative theme, including one chapter which compares British and Australian political cultures and which shows British democracy in a somewhat different light from the one usually shone on it. The concluding chapter brings together the overall argument.

In this paper, Linear Quadratic (LQ) optimal control concepts are applied for the active control of vibrations in helicopters. The study is based on an identified dynamic model of the rotor. The vibration effect is captured by suitably augmenting the state vector of the rotor model. Then, Kalman filtering concepts can be used to obtain a real-time estimate of the vibration, which is then fed back to form a suitable compensation signal. This design rationale is derived here starting from a rigorous problem position in an optimal control context. Among other things, this calls for a suitable definition of the performance index, of nonstandard type. The application of these ideas to a test helicopter, by means of computer simulations, shows good performances both in terms of disturbance rejection effectiveness and control effort limitation. The performance of the obtained controller is compared with the one achievable by the so called Higher Harmonic Control (HHC) approach, well known within the helicopter community.

Pharmacists and pharmaceutical technicians play an important role in counselling customers regarding sunscreen use and sun protection measures. A potentially helpful tool that can be used during counselling is the ultraviolet index (UVI), which informs individuals when and what sun protection measures are needed at a specific place and time. Our aim in this qualitative study was to explore awareness, knowledge, and use of the UVI during counselling in pharmacies. We used semi-structured interviews with pharmacists and pharmaceutical technicians (n = 20) to answer our research questions. Interviews were audiotaped, transcribed verbatim, and analyzed using qualitative content analysis. During the interviews pharmacists and pharmaceutical technicians revealed a lot of uncertainty and lack of knowledge regarding the UVI. Eight professionals were able to give a correct definition of UVI. Amongst others, the UVI was confused with sun protection factor. Overall, the UVI was hardly used during the counselling of customers. The UVI was developed to provide guidance when which type of sun protection is required to avoid detrimental effects of ultraviolet radiation. For effective implementation, both the general population and health professionals (e.g., pharmacists) have to increase their knowledge about the UVI. This would strengthen its use during professional counselling in pharmacies and may help to reduce the incidence of skin cancer over the long term.
