Background: Personal hygiene is something that needs to be taken care of especially in elementary school-aged children. Data from the Srondol Community Health Center states that in 2017 the fifth-highest number of diarrhea occurred in elementary school-aged children. SDN Srondol Kulon 02 is a health promoting elementary school in the city of Semarang. Based on School Health Unit data, in 2018 there were 52 students from SDN Srondol Kulon 02 referred to the public health center because of diarrhea and 13 students referred to because of toothache. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence personal hygiene practices in 5th grade elementary school students at SDN Srondol Kulon 02. Methods: This study was observational analytic with cross-sectional approach using total sampling technique and questionnaire instrument. The sample was 98 5th grade students in SDN Srondol Kulon 02. Data was analyzed by using chi-square test and ordinal regression. Results: There was an influence between Knowledge (p= 0.037) attitudes (p= 0.009) support of teaching staff (p= 0.005) family support (p= 0.008) with personal hygiene practices and no influence between the support of health workers (p= 0.997) and PHBS facilities (p= 0.817) with personal hygiene practices. Conclusion: Support of teaching staff was the most influential in improving students’ personal hygiene practices.

Dental caries is the most common dental disease suffered by the Indonesian population, especially elementary school children—an oral dental condition caused by various factors, including children's lack of parental knowledge. The existence of a government program through the UKGS requires screening for every child in elementary school. The Covid-19 pandemic has hampered the screening process in elementary schools because students study online at home. This study aims to conduct a telesurvey of dental caries in children and determine parents' knowledge in maintaining the health of children's oral teeth. The cross-sectional method and the questionnaire were used in this study as a measuring tool. Furthermore, dental examinations are carried out using a gadget/mobile phone uploaded to the google form. The analysis used in this study is the univariate method. The results showed that 340 elementary school students at Padasuka Health Center had the primary teeth' caries index in the medium category. The caries index of the permanent teeth was in the deficient class. The prevalence of caries in elementary school students at Padasuka Health Center is 80%. At the same time, parental awareness regarding the maintenance of children's oral health is considered in the high category. The telesurvey conducted on elementary school students at Padasuka Health Center was used as an illustration to determine the status of oral health, particularly dental caries. Hopefully, the telesurvey will make it easier for respondents and health workers to assess oral health.

ABSTRACTBackground: The prevalence and incidence of Pediculosis capitis in children is quite high in many countries of the world. Pediculosis capitis usually affects children aged 5 - 13 years. In Yogyakarta in 2011 the prevalence of pediculosis capitis infestation rate was 19.6% for elementary school students in rural areas and 12.3% in elementary school students in urbanareas. The incidence is far below the real number because of the number of patients who treat themselves and do not report to the health workers. Prevalence is definitely not known, this is because Pediculosis capitis is not a disease that must be reported while people consider it just a nuisance is not reported. Pediculosis capitis needs attention because it often attacks children. Objective: To see the relationship between Personal hygiene and Pediculosis capitis incidents, to know the incidence of Pediculosis capitis and to know personal hygiene School Children In Kloposawit, Turi, Sleman, Yogyakarta Method: The study used cross sectional design with population of all students of grade 1 to class VI. The sample was 43 respondents. The data were collected by giving questionnaires to the research respondents. Data processing using Chi Square test with 95% confidence level and α = 0,05. Result: Based on bivariate analysis, there is no correlation between personal hygiene with incidence of Pediculosis capitis School Children in Kloposawit, Turi, Sleman (P = 0,331), incidence Pediculosis capitis School Childre in Kloposawit 32,6% positive respondents Pediculosis capitis and 67,4% % of respondents negative pediculosis capitis. Personal hygienerespondents 53,5% good and 46,5% personal hygiene less. Conclusion: There is no relationship between personal hygiene and the incidence of Pediculosis capitis. Most of the respondents (67.4%) negative pediculosis capitis and respondents have good personal hygiene.

[Bahasa]: Salah satu metode pembelajaran yang cocok digunakan untuk operasi perkalian adalah metode jarimatika. Metode ini diberikan kepada siswa SD di Kefamenanu mengingat berdasarkan data Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS), Kefamenanu telah memiliki empat perguruan tinggi namun masih banyak siswa yang belum memiliki kemampuan berhitung cepat. Kelebihan metode jarimatika adalah tidak memerlukan alat peraga dan hafalan karena perhitungan dilakukan dengan memanfaatkan jari tangan sehingga diharapkan operasi hitung perkalian dapat lebih mudah dipahami, menyenangkan, dan tidak membebani memori otak siswa. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berhitung siswa sekolah dasar. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di SDN Neonbat Kefamenanu, Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) dengan subyek pengabdian seluruh siswa kelas V yang berjumlah 60 orang. Pengabdian dilaksanakan dalam bentuk workshop yang dibagi menjadi 2 hari. Pelaksanaan hari pertama fokus pada review kemampuan dasar siswa yang meliputi perkalian 1-5 dan dilanjutkan dengan perkenalan teknik berhitung cepat dengan jarimatika untuk perkalian 6-10 dan 11-15. Pengabdian dilanjutkan pada hari kedua yaitu review materi pada hari sebelumnya dan penyampaian teknik berhitung cepat untuk kelompok 16-20 yang diakhiri dengan pemberian latihan. Kegiatan pengabdian tidak hanya berhenti pada workshop tetapi dilanjutkan dengan pendampingan terhadap siswa yang dipilih sebanyak 20 orang. Kegiatan pendampingan ini memberikan dampak positif terhadap hasil belajar yang diperoleh siswa. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari peningkatan nilai rata-rata pada pre-testsebesar 55,84 dan pada post test sebesar 75. Kata Kunci: berhitung cepat; metode jarimatika; perkalian; sekolah dasar [English]: One of the appropriate methods to learn multiplication is Jarimatika. It was given to elementary school students in Kefamenanu which, based on data from statistical central agency (BPS), has four colleges but there are still many students who do not have rapid counting skills. The advantage of this method is not requiring learning tools and memorization because calculations are done by utilizing the fingers so that the expected counting operation of multiplication can be more easily understood, enjoyable, and does not overload students’ memory. The purpose of this community service program was to improve the counting skills of elementary school students. It was held at SDN Neonbat Kefamenanu, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) involving 60 5th-grade students. The program was carried out in two-day workshop. The first day focused on the review of students ' basic ability which includes multiplication 1-5 and continued with the introduction of quick counting techniques with Jarimatika for multiplication 6-10 and 11-15. The second day was to review the previous day and introduce the rapid counting technique for multiplication 16-20. This program did not only end with the workshop but also continued with the assistance of 20 selected students. This assistance provided a positive impact on the results students get which can be seen from the increasing average score: 55,84 in the pre-test then increased to 75 in the post-test. Background Helminth infection remains a health problem, especially in school-aged children. Mass eradication programs with a single dose of anti-helminthic drugs were employed by the local government in some endemic areas in Bali. However, the effectiveness of the programs has not been well evaluated.Objective To investigate prevalence and possible risk factors of helminth infection, including nutritional status, in elementary school students from endemic areas who participated in mass eradication programs.Methods This cross-sectional study involved 126 students from Elementary School No. 3 Gegelang, Karangasem, Bali, a location that had recently undergone a mass eradication program. Diagnoses were based on direct smear examination of fecal specimens. Information on suspected risk factors and nutritional status were collected by questionnaire and anthropometric measurement, respectively. Statistical analyses included Chi-square and odds ratio, using SPSS v21 software.Results The prevalence of helminth infection was 31.7% with etiologies of Trichuris trichuria (75%), Ascaris lumbricoides (17.5%), or both infections (7.5%). Habits of not using footwear [OR=4.88; 95%CI 1.15 to 20.65], not keeping nails trimmed [OR=3.33; 95%CI 1.07 to 10.37], and absence of a proper toilet [OR=4.31; 95%CI 1.93 to 9.64] were found to be significant risk factors for helminth infection. However, we found no significant association between helminth infection and nutritional status, although a considerable number of students had less than normal reference values, in terms of weight, height, and BMI for age.Conclusion The prevalence of helminth infection continues to be high, with personal hygiene and sanitation as significant risk factors. History of mass eradication programs did not confer an effective protection against helminth infection.

The purpose of this study was to explore how examples used in teaching may influence elementary school students' conceptions of evaporation and boiling. To this end, the examples traditionally used to explain evaporation and boiling in Korean 4th grade science textbooks were analyzed. The functions of these published examples were explanation (empirical recognition, identification, and evidence) and reinforcement (applications). However, few reinforcement functions (such as comparison and supposition) or clarification functions (such as extension and contrast) were employed. The evaporation and boiling conceptions of 41 students in the 4th grade, 55 students in the 5th grade, and 28 students in the 6th grade were surveyed. Many students thought of evaporation phenomena under heating conditions as boiling, and the same phenomena without an obvious source of heating as evaporation. This meant that the presence of heating affected the students' conceptions of evaporation and boiling. In this study, the students were presented with clarifying functional examples that were not included in the textbooks. After exposure to these examples, many students revised their misconceptions and adopted scientific conceptions. Previous studies have argued that students must be able to reason from a microscopic point of view to understand evaporation and boiling phenomena; however, the tested students were able to classify the two different phenomena after experiencing appropriate functional examples.
