Processes and problems of the creation of networking society and network-based economy are described in this theoretical article. Networking processes and the network-based new development tendencies in various sectors of economy and social life in the context of contemporary global changes are defined as an especially important field of the scientific research and studies. The main aspects of the networking and network-based development tendencies are analysed. The complexity and systematics of the networking processes and the networking society creation under conditions of globalisation and contemporary changes in various areas of social and economic life are analysed. The main attention is focused on the idea that networking processes and the creation of networking society and network-based economy could be perceived as one of the most important priorities of the modernisation of contemporary social and economic systems, as well as of social, economic, political development, science, and technological progress in general. The creation of networking society and network-based economy is assessed as the most important assumption and the main way to solve most of the social, economic, technological, even security, defence and ecological problems worldwide, as well as in various countries or regions in general and in various countries or regions in the space of the European Union. The processes of the creation of networking society and network-based economy express the essential qualitative changes in all areas of social, economic, political life, science, and technological progress, and interaction with nature. The processes of the creation of networking society and network-based economy deeply influence the content of globalisation and internationalisation processes and the effect on a situation in the modern world. The processes of the creation of networking society and network-based economy must be analysed in complexity. This analysis should be orientated towards the systematically examined and assessed changes and development processes. It is particularly important that the processes of the creation of networking society and network-based economy are taking place on a global scale and could be defined as the processes belonging to the category of global processes and changes: it also means that the complex interaction between the processes of global changes and the processes of the creation of networking society and network-based economy is a very important factor of the positive development in the societal life in the general context of globalisation.Problem is that the networking society and the network-based economy creation processes and other processes of global changes are usually analysed separately: the factor of the complex interaction between different global processes and the processes of the creation of networking society and network-based economy is often ignored. It means, that a complex analysis of the processes of various types, as well as an evaluation of the factors of interaction between different processes could be defined as a perspective way to solve some actual theoretical and practical problems of the development of contemporary economy and of the creation of networking society and network-based economy in general, especially in the context of globalisation. The complex analysis and the multidimensional evaluation of the general processes of global changes and of the specific processes of networking society and the network-based economy creation as a perspective theoretical approach in research on societal changes in the context of globalisation is defined and described in this theoretical article. The variety and the main phenomena and regularities of the global changes are identified, their impact on real processes of networking society and network-based economy creation is characterised. The main principles of the networking society and the network-based economy creation in the context of global changes are formulated. The main idea of the complex analysis and of the evaluation of the factors of interaction between different processes of global changes and the processes of networking society and network-based economy creation could be briefly described as follows: the complex analysis and evaluation of these factors includes two aspects – first, all these processes should be defined and analysed as the global changes in general, secondly, the processes of the creation of networking society and networks based economy should be identified as an specific and especially important priority of contemporary social, economic, organizational and technological changes in the global space. This idea is described in details in the article.

The processes of creating knowledge-based society and knowledge economy in the context of global changes are described. A variety of global changes and the main processes of creating knowledge-based society and knowledge economy in the context of globalization are identified. The processes of creating knowledge-based society and knowledge economy are defined as the processes belonging to the category of global transformation processes; it means that the complex interaction between the general processes of global transformations and the processes of creating knowledge-based society and knowledge economy are a very important factor of positive changes in social life in the context of globalization. A complex analysis and the multidimensional evaluation of the processes of global transformations and of creating knowledge-based society and knowledge economy as a promising theoretical approach in research of social changes in the context of globalization is carried out. The main ideas of the complex analysis and of the evaluation of the factors of interaction between the general processes of global transformations and the processes of creating knowledge-based society and knowledge economy are analyzed.

The new theoretical approach of the processes of creating knowledge based society and the knowledge economy, as well as sustainable development processes is described in the article. The main idea is that the creation and development processes of the knowledge‐based society and knowledge economy may be attributed to the category of global transformation and sustainable development processes, therefore, all general phenomena and characteristics of global transformations and sustainable development in general, are absolutely typical for the creation and development of the knowledge based society and knowledge economy. The processes of the creating of knowledge based society and knowledge economy and modernization are analyzed in the general context of the processes of sustainable development. The main principles of creating the knowledge based society and knowledge economy and modernization are described. Creating and modernization of the knowledge based society and knowledge economy are very complicated processes, oriented to the formation of the new quality of society and qualitatively new lifestyle, these processes may be described as “twice” as complicated, because they win distinction by orientations to the pursuit of new quality in two aspects: the knowledge based society and knowledge economy, compared to “traditional” society and economy, are in all cases described as qualitatively new, creating and development of the knowledge based society and knowledge economy takes place under the conditions of the global changes, which means that qualitative changes take place in all global space, the essence of those changes is the creation and spread of the knowledge‐based society and knowledge economy. A special attention is given to the conclusion that in the environment of the knowledge based society creation and generating knowledge economy and development, the provisions for sustainable development should be attained. The processes of creating knowledge based society and knowledge economy and further development should be analyzed and assessed in the context of processes of globalization and internationalization, as well as processes of global transformations. The “Power” concept intended for the scientific cognition of sustainable development and knowledge based society and knowledge economy creation processes phenomena is analyzed.

Abstract This article applies the theory of archaeological semiotics to the study of the “Olmec” style. A semiotic approach differs from an iconographic study because it provides the possibility for complex analysis of all significant traits of material archeological objects without distinction between stylistic and iconographic traits. In this context, the semiotic analysis of the Olmec style as a sign system shows that its particular signs, which can be defined as stylistic traits because of the lack of specific iconographic meanings, simultaneously participated in the creation and transformation of cultural meanings. This phenomenon reflected the “macrosignified” of Formative Mesoamerican cultures, associated with a structure that linked together various meanings throughout the culture.

Purpose The purpose of this paper was to explore how small immigrant communities in host countries collect, disseminate and present information about their home country and their community, and the role of formal societies and clubs in it. Design/methodology/approach This paper presents the results of a case study of the Croatian community in New Zealand. To illustrate how cultural and technological changes affected information dissemination and communication within the community, the case study presents both historical and current situations. Methods used in this case study included a content analysis of historical newspapers published in New Zealand by the Croatian community, content analysis of current webpages and social networking sites, and interviews with participants who have management roles in Croatian societies and communities in New Zealand. Data were collected from December 2018 to February 2019. Findings Formally established clubs and societies, but also informal groups of immigrants and their descendants can play a significant role in providing their members with information about the culture, social life and events of the home country. They also play a significant role in preserving part of the history and heritage which is relevant, not only for a specific community but also for the history and culture of a home country. Originality/value The methodology used in the research is based on data from community archives and can be used for studying other small immigrant communities in New Zealand or abroad. The case study presented in the paper illustrates how the information environment of small immigrant communities develops and changes over the years under the influence of diverse political, social and technological changes.

In the contemporary economy the more and more greater role is played by state and local government institutions. Offices of public administration not only create law, but more and more often become initiators of the different type of investments undertaken on the ground of their jurisdiction. Often neighbouring administrative units begin to compete between themselves in gaining of investments and resources for the purpose of its own development. In the functionality of mentioned offices the greater role is performed by IT systems building the architecture of a given unit, clearly expressed among other things in the idea of intelligent city. Applied by offices of public administration IT systems are more often opened for suppliants creating e-government tools [1]. In this paper was presented the role of e-government tools in the business activation of the region on the basis of IT systems made available by Czestochowa Municipal Office. The review of potential directions of the e-government tools usage in different areas of social-economic life of the city will be presented

The phenomenon of "cancer villages" has emerged in many parts of rural China, drawing media attention and becoming a fact of social life. However, the relationship between pollution and disease is often hard to discern. Through sociological analysis of several villages with different social and economic structures, the authors offer a comprehensive, historically grounded analysis of the coexistence between the incidence of cancer, environmental pollution and villagers’ lifestyles, as well as the perceptions, claims and responses of different actors. They situate the appearance of "cancer villages" in the context of social, economic and cultural change in China, tracing the evolution of the issue over two decades, and providing deep insights into the complex interactions and trade-offs between economic growth, environmental change and public health.

Historically, latent demand—the activities and travel that are desired but unrealized because of constraints—has been examined from the standpoint of understanding the effects of proposed capacity or service improvements on travel demand. Drawing on work from a variety of theoretical perspectives, this paper presents a broader conceptual view of latent demand that provides a useful framework for researching and understanding these unmet needs. This view is important from an equity standpoint, as it provides insights into questions of transport disadvantage, social exclusion, and poverty. The framework presented here is theoretical in nature and untested empirically. This paper aims to promote discussion and ultimately a more developed theory that can inform transportation planning and forecasting. A better definition and quantification of latent (or induced) demand can aid transportation planners in better predicting the effects of future transportation investments and other social, economic, and technological changes.

Sustainable development is becoming a very important issue in the 21st century. Facing global changes such as the global warming, global climate change, as well as other pressing issue, all spheres of economy and social life need to take part in mitigating them and preventing disasters from happening. Our article studies the role of the small business in the above processes and the place of the small business in promoting sustainable development through its actions, public and social awareness and responsibility. We show how even small and medium enterprises can become a decisive power in tackling the climate change and promoting green thinking and sustainable awareness. This can be achieved through enhancing social responsibility of business companies which can greatly contribute to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and promoting sustainable economic growth.
