Due to the global outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), new regulations require students to study from home so that students must be able to study independently. This study aimed to analyze teachers' perceptions of self-directed learning (SDL) and SDL components that can be identified from online learning activities assigned by teachers during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research was designed in the form of embedded mixed-method research. An English teacher at a high school was selected as a participant. Furthermore, data were collected through questionnaires, observations, and classification tables. The results showed that: 1) with a score of 4.00, teachers perceive themselves as "knowledgeable" about SDL knowledge, with a score of 3.57, teachers perceive themselves as "expected" or often carry out learning activities that support SDL, with a score of 3.88, teachers assessing the impact of SDL as “influential” on students, 2) components of SDL reflected through online learning activities assigned by the teacher are “developing a sense of belonging to students in learning” and “developing student self-monitoring” and self-management.” Thus, teachers perceive SDL positively, and there are two components of SDL promoted by teachers' online learning activities.

Teachers' perceptions in developing learning are needed to help students more easily capture information from the learning activities undertaken. One way that can be applied is by connecting learning materials with the local wisdom of the surrounding environment or commonly known as ethnoscience. Indonesia is a country rich in local culture in every region. Therefore, it is important for the nation's future generations to protect and preserve what already exists, for example by linking local culture to physics learning materials. The purpose of this study was to determine the potential for any physics concepts that exist in traditional kolecer games that can be applied to learning physics and everyday life. This type of research is the Narrative Review. Based on the research results, it was found that there was a potential application of physics concepts to local wisdom (ethnoscience) in the traditional "kolecer" game, these physics concepts were in the matter of equilibrium, pressure, Newton’s first and second law, work and energy, kinetic energy, and circular motion. It can be concluded that the application of local wisdom-based learning can help students easily grasp the material provided by the teacher and make learning more meaningful, especially on local wisdom of traditional kolecer games.

The purpose of this research was to examine the situations, problems, and needs in teaching English of grades 1-6 teachers in five provinces located in the five provinces in the central region of Thailand: Lop Buri, Sing Buri, Saraburi, Suphan Buri, and Ang-Thong in 2016. A questionnaire comprising both open and closed-ended questions was sent to the English teachers in the area and 170 teachers responded back. Percentage, mean and standard deviation were applied to analyze quantitative data whereas content analysis was conducted for qualitative data. The results of the teachers’ questionnaire response indicated most participants had no degree in English, but had 1-5 year experience in teaching English. When considering on the teachers’ perceptions on teaching English using Likert Scales, their satisfaction was at a moderate level in every item (teaching situations, contents, learning activities, learning materials, and evaluation). Most teachers mentioned that lacking teaching methodologies, contents, and skills in English were of concern when teaching English, therefore, they had their students learn from the programs themselves and sometimes the teachers used the text books to teach. The findings also showed that the teachers needed teaching English training especially the English teaching methodologies. Lacking qualified teachers to teach English in primary grades was critical particularly with Grades 1-2.

The purpose of this study is to describea how the teacher's perception of the application of Edmodo as a tool for learning activities in Al-Falah Islamic Elementary School Jambi. This research is a study that uses a qualitative approach to the type of phenomenological research. Researchers chose a qualitative approach to the type of phenomenological research because researchers wanted to examine according to phenomena related to teacher perceptions of the application of edmodo as a learning aid in the Al-Falah Islamic Elementary School in Jambi. The informants of this study were nine Al-Falah Jambi Islamic elementary school teachers. Researchers took the "purposive sampling" sampling technique by assigning informants with special characteristics, namely teachers who knew and had used the Edmodo application as a medium or a tool in learning in the network. Data collection techniques used by researchers are questionnaires and interviews. The researcher chose technique triangulation as a test of the validity of the data. By using triangulation techniques, the researchers re-check the data from the same source with different techniques to conduct data analysis. The data obtained were analyzed using the Miles Huberman interactive model which included: data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The results of this study indicate that the perception of teachers has a percentage of 84.86% and can be categorized as perceptions that strongly agree with the application of Edmodo as a tool for learning activities in primary schools. The teachers felt helped in the learning process using the edmodo application. With the diversity of features found in the Edmodo application, teachers can use it in online learning. The steps of learning to use the edmodo application have not been eliminated or even almost refined so that the teacher feels that the edmodo application is specifically designed for learning in the network. Just as in direct learning there are materials that can be read in the library, assignments, quizzes, correcting students' assignments and even awards given to students. The teacher is also more free because it can be done anytime and anywhere. Teachers' perceptions of the application of Edmodo regarding the constraints are only few namely regarding the programming language. As for the speed of access because online learning all depends on the network, if the network is good the learning will run smoothly. Comfort in learning using the Edmodo application is also felt by the teachers. The teachers have a desire to continue to access Edmodo as a tool for learning activities by adjusting to the needs and learning materials.

The study of prototype learning activity has received significant attention to elevating students’ academic performance. This study utilized the prototype learning design as a significant predictor of students’ performance and the like. In addition, this study aimed to explore teachers’ strategies for measuring students’ creative growth utilizing authentic assessments. Moreover, this study used a survey to assess the perception of the students and teachers. The study used the quantitative inferential which provides the relationship between the two variables' effectiveness and perception of the prototype learning activities. The main instrument used to ascertain these parameters are the two survey questionnaires was researcher-made align with the Department of Education Science competency, the reliability and consistency were validated by the statistician.  Results revealed that students’ performance was at a high level when engaged in the prototype learning activity. Furthermore, the perception of the students and teachers in terms of ease of use, relevance, and comprehensibility indicates positive perception in relation to the student's performance. Finally, the prototype-based learning approach shows a promising effect on the performance of the student's and teachers' perceptions. Hence, enhancement training in developing a teacher’s capacity to design meaningful learning that caters students' needs should be provided. The teaching and learning process has a big revolution since Corona Virus Disease 19 (COVID19) has spread out to the world. Education is one of the sectors that have a mostly big impact on its condition. COVID 19 changes everything in the education system. The teaching and learning process which do face to face must be changed to an online system. Thus, in this research, the researchers want to identify the teacher’s challenges for doing online teaching and learning. The researchers also describe the strength and weaknesses of online learning based on teachers’ perceptions. This research used a qualitative approach because the researchers describe teacher challenges toward online learning and the easiness and the difficulties of online learning in the pandemic era. The participants of this research were 14 English teachers from a different level of education in South Kalimantan. The instruments used in this study consisted of 12 open-ended questionnaires made online using Google form. The result of the questionnaire that has filled out by the participants recorded in the researcher’s email, then based on this result the researchers describe the findings and related it to the relevant theory. The findings of this research are most of the teachers agree that the challenges to applying online learning are in facilitation such as internet connection, quota, the places of home living, and the process of online learning itself such as the teacher’s less in technology for designing interesting online learning activities, less communicative, lack of interaction, and fostering an effective online learning climate and for the strength and the weakness of online learning activities most of the teachers agree that the strength of online learning is flexible in time and place, thus the teaching and learning can conduct everywhere and anytime, for the weakness the teacher agree that online learning can’t conduct maximal pedagogy process in learning activities.  Keywords: teacher, challenges, online learning, pandemic era
