In clause questions of definition of a resource of the wheel motor block traction transfer of a motorcarload rolling stock are considered. Problems of forecasting of a technical condition of responsible units oftraction transfer are certain. The model of deterioration in which the periods extra earnings are allocated,normal operation, intensive deterioration and prolongation of service life of the wheel motor block of amotor carload rolling stock is formalized for weigh his life cycle. For each allocated period meetingdependences of speed and intensity of deterioration are offered. According to dependences calculations arelead and analytical expressions of wear of points of cog-wheels of power reducing of traction transfer whichallow to predict his resource in operation are received.

Planned warning system for locomotive repair has almost exhausted its potential.This was facilitated by the rapid deterioration of the technical condition of the locomotive fleet andinfrastructure for both repair and operation. Rolling stock renewal is almost non-existent, and thereis interest in providing railway services due to rising tariffs and low levels of comfort.On the contrary, some foreign railways consider the planned warning system exhausted,especially in compliance with all requirements for maintenance and repairs, timely modernizationmeasures.But at the same time, the policy of monitoring the technical condition of manufacturers to formthe infrastructure for the organization of repair and modernization of the series of locomotives isgradually developing. The first scientific researches in this direction were devoted to substantiationof strategy of interaction of traditional approaches and those which bring considerable differencesfrom traditional. This is the adoption of a strategy for the distribution of operational and repairfunctions of locomotive enterprises, and when, together with manufacturers, repair plants and depots,the need to transfer repairs to service centers is determined.At the same time, large centers are being formed that provide service services for the regionsof operation, namely, organize the monitoring and audit of the enterprise and ensure the organizationof rolling stock repairs.Without a clear organization of the supply system, the organization of locomotive service, whichrequires the selection of the optimal procurement procedure and stocks.The introduction of a new system of maintenance and restoration of the locomotive fleet on theprinciples of service requires a clear organization of the supply of spare parts for repairinfrastructure. The system considers the solution of the optimization problem of the balance of profits andlosses in the creation of stocks for locomotive service.Assuming that the process demand was mostly random, it is proposed to introduce a targetfunction that takes into account the definition of the law of distribution of demand for spare parts,based on the minimum of the given measurements for their acquisition and storage. With this in mind,it is proposed to create an ideology of «virtual storage» to optimize stocks and their costs.

The simplest and accessible method for rolling-stock axle surface strengthening is surface processing with cold plastic deformation by means of rolling. This process is one of the stages in manufacturing diesel locomotive and car axles of a rolling-stock. The basic parameters of rolling engineering process are micro-hardness of a metal surface strengthened layer and its depth, which at present are controlled by means of cutting out longitudinal polished specimens from the axle and in case of the deviation from the required value the whole set axles is rejected. That is why there is offered a method of the non-destruction control of micro-hardness and depth of axle strengthening the essence of which is not only in the control of a strengthening degree value, but in the instant correction of rolling equipment in case of the deviation from the parameter, as this device is integrated in the interface of a rolling machine. In such a way, an actual value of strengthened layer micro-hardness will be always within the specified limits. The principle of device operation is based on the topography changes in the scattering magnetic field of preliminary magnetized local volume of ferromagnetic material. There are shown numerical experiments for the dependence parameter definition of a scattering field of a magnetic mark from thickness and magnetic properties of a strengthened metal layer which had given a possibility to obtain the analytical dependences of a strengthened layer thickness and coercive force of the strengthened layer upon the parameters of a horizontal and vertical constituents of the scattering field strength of the magnetic mark. There are obtained results of natural experiments which allow defining magnetic properties of the upper metal layer in the axle and checking the correctness of data obtained at numerical computations, computation errors do not exceed 6%. The integration circuit of the mentioned structure-scope in the configuration of a rolling machine to obtain a feedback on a micro-hardness value of a surface strengthened layer.

The publication of documentary materials reflects the history of the organization and conducting of the retreat of the units of Admiral A.V. Kolchak’s Eastern Front and the evacuation of civilian refugees from Omsk and other cities in Siberia in November 1919 – January 1920. The article considers the issues of the technical condition and operation of the TRANSSiberian railway and, in particular, the functioning of the rolling stock. Those aspects for the history of the Civil War in the East of Russia to this day remain poorly studied. Evidence is provided on the state of the military, refugee and civil trains, and about the situation of passengers. Consistently and with the involvement of documentary material, the stages of the preparation and implementation of evacuation measures are described, and the reasons for the failure of planned decisions are analyzed. The article presents evidence on the consequences of full-scale disaster with the railway accident that became part of the Civil War history in Siberia. The materials from the State Archives of the Russian Federation that have not been widely used in scientific research and have not been published yet, as well as some previously published documentary evidence, were used. The study of that aspect of the Civil War history in Siberia allows to get an idea of not only the military, but also of the political importance that the TRANS-Siberian railway played in the absence of developed transport communications in the East of Russia.

Objective: To develop the method to monitor the technical condition of the railway track. Me-thods: A strain-gauge wheel pair is used for continuous recording of vertical and lateral interaction forces in a dynamic wheel–rail system. Results: Stability margin factors of a wagon relative to de-railment have been determined and the defective (prone to derailment) sections of a railway track have been identified with the exact identification of their location (GPS coordinates) on the map using navigation devices. Practical importance: The developed monitoring method makes it possi-ble to promptly re¬gister and eliminate railway track defects

Through additional processing of the modern movement parameter recorders data of the DC electric locomotive 2ES6 the article first presents the results of the actual consumption of electricity for own needs and the proportion of these costs from the consumption of trains traction is determined, which in terms of operational depot is difficult to implement. The estimation of influencing factors on the energy consumption for own needs of 2ES6 series electric locomotives is made. As a result it was found that the internal energy consumption is influenced by such factors as rolling stock mass, axle load and environment temperature. Statistic models were made to normalize internal electricity consumption and their quality estimation was fulfilled. It is found that the remainders of the multiple regression equation, which take the above factors into account, obey the normal distribution law, indicating the adequacy of their further use to assess the energy efficiency of the 2ES6 series DC electric locomotives auxiliary equipment. The use of regression models will allow to identify electric locomotives with auxiliary equipment with low energy efficiency and to send them to unscheduled repairs in time to restore the required technical condition.

The article deals with the procedures for certification of private locomotives in order to grant authorization for their operation on certain public railway lines. The special feature of the certification is that, as a rule, locomotives belonging to departments, enterprises and organizations that are not within the management sphere of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" and were not previously used on public railway lines of Ukraine, but are now presented for participation in the project, can be of several types, different years of construction, have different diesel operating hours (SMU hours), different degrees of wear of the mechanical part of load-bearing structures, wheelsets, trolleys, couplings, braking equipment, different technical condition of measuring instruments, safety devices and air tanks, devices security, etc. Therefore, the article presents the provisions of certification schemes (models) that can be used by the certification body for the certification of single locomotives and batches of private locomotives, and their aspects. The paper also presents the basic normative documents according to which certification procedures are carried out. The key aspects of existing certification testing of locomotives are specified. The scope of work on technical diagnostics of locomotives for certification is described. The procedure and duration of the direct certification process are given taking into account the analysis of documentation, technical inspection, provision of expert evaluation, selection and identification of a sample (samples) of a representative item from the batch submitted for sampling, certification testing, processing and registration of test results, comprehensive conclusion on compliance of the locomotive with the requirements of regulatory and technical documents, decision-making on the possibility (or impossibility) of issuing a certificate.

The application of braking systems with the lo-cation of the executive mechanism directly upon a bogie is a promising trend in domestic brake production and freight car manufacturing on the whole. In the paper a common circuit of a braking rod leverage with the location of cylinders 670V on the bogie of two-axle type 2 and type 3 (RSS 9246-2013) is considered. The investigation carried out in the work is a continuation of works connected with the updating of a braking system developed earlier. The aim of the work consists in the definition of cylinder rod outlet limits taking into account elastic deformation of all elements of leverage in accordance with the procedure developed and appraised earlier and also the definition of maximum possible thickness of a brake pad used for this circuit in operation. The rod outlet limits obtained will be standard as system transmission ratio is unified, and an elastic constituent will have minimum deviations from the value obtained and depend upon a specific execution of elements. In this investigation there is used a 3D brake system model developed thoroughly that allows obtaining an elastic deformation value precise enough. Furthermore, data obtained allow defining a maximum operation outlet of rod of the braking cylinder 670V in the system analyzed during car motion on a long steep slope. On the basis of the investigations carried out there are defined the limits of rod outlet (35…47mm) for the developed common brake system with cylinders 670V that allows using brake pads of maximum width (65+5mm) used in railway freight rolling-stock of the RF. The maximum operation value of rod outlet is obtained during car motion on a steep long slope (63mm) which does not exceed a working stroke of a cylinder (100mm).
