The current paper is focused on the research of Internet-mediated text as a special kind of oral-written discourse. The Internet has spawned an entirely new form of communication at the intersection of its conventional forms – a "written spoken language" which differs both from standard written speech and standard oral speech. Social network discourse as a result of Internet-mediated communication is characterized by a set of variant and invariant parameters that appear in the verbal and paraverbal characteristics of the digitally processed written text. The text as a product of the intellectual activity of a particular person is a complex structural formation with the laws of relations. The transition to a digital personality significantly affected the process of transmission and formation of the final digital product: text – intertext – quasi-text as a product of multi-stage processing of the initial version of the text. The main factors that characterize social network discourse presented in the article are reflected in the specifics of the texts generated in its process and which are considered as the result of the newest type of Internet-mediated communication. The article presents a paradigm change of linguistic expertology in relation to digital content, considers traditional and the newest approaches to estimating the key linguistic parameters that would allow to solve profiling issues on the basis of Russian speech.

Traditionally, there are distinguished two forms of speech (oral and written). In the era of widespread digitalization, a new (computer-mediated) communication is emerging. The question arises, what form of speech generates a new type of communication, a special - hybrid - form of speech (“oral-written”) or a variety of existing forms. An attempt to answer this question is the task of the article. During the research it was found that the nature of this form is hybrid: it organically combines the beginning of both oral discourse and written speech. At the same time oral and written speech has its own pragmatics, which is different from the pragmatics of known forms of speech. If oral speech is designed to promote communication, written speech is designed to preserve information, then oralwritten discourse is a platform for the realization and manifestation of the individuality of the author of speech. The author of oral and written speech creates his identity, recreates the image of his “I” anew. Hence the leading “modus” of oral and written speech. Oral speech is “over-phonetic”: it has a rich arsenal of verbal and non-verbal means for conveying information, as well as for expressing emotions. Written speech has almost no extra-linguistic, additional means of expression, it is super-grammatical. In the context of oral-written discourse, the individual expresses himself (builds or transforms an already created image) often by playing with the form. Oral-written discourse on the Internet is “super graphic”. The peculiarity of representatives of generation Z lies in the almost simultaneous (parallel) mastery of written and oral-written speech. This cannot but affect the process of mastering writing skills by modern adolescents

The main purpose of this article is to dwell on the consideration of some genres of natural writing. The very concept of “natural written speech” at the present time has not received a complete and comprehensive interpretation. However, recently we have come across its existence much less often. In part, the disappearance of the genres of natural writing is associated with the onset of the digital era, when people stopped writing letters to each other on paper, notes, making notes for themselves, stopped signing photographs. Many genres of writing are capable of giving an idea of the writer in the same way as varieties of oral speech. In natural written speech, some personality traits and linguistic personality are manifested. The aim of the research, presented in the article, is to analyze inscriptions on photographs from the viewpoint of their lexis, punctuation, graphical layout to define the chronotope and personal characteristics of the author, who produces this genre of written discourse. The focus is on the linguistic means of inscriptions on photos, i.e. graphic, lexical, derivational and some others. In the process of analyzing such a genre of writing as inscriptions on photographs, the main varieties of this genre were identified: inscriptions made as a memento, inscriptions that represent the definition of an event or time and place; inscriptions made to convey information to close relatives, etc. In addition, the inscriptions on photographs can be classified by keywords, if possible, determining the chronotope, by the use of graphic means, by the location of the inscription itself in the photograph. To a certain extent, the inscriptions made on photographs reflect the personality traits of a person. The analysis shows, that the inscriptions on photographs have become somewhat of a harbinger of personal pages on Instagram.

This dissertation advocates a recurrent and systematic use of nonverbal elements, as well as pictorial information incorporated into the reading lesson, to initiate linguistic activity in the teaching of FL reading. For this purpose, two broad avenues are brought to bear. The first is discourse-oriented and includes an expanded review of the structure of the written text with its two basic semiotic devices, the verbal and nonverbal ones. The second is cognition-oriented and includes a review of two important issues, namely, the information-processing system and the concept of schema. These two cognitive issues inform the view this dissertation adopts of comprehension as an interactive process which involves both text-presented material and the information the reader brings to the reading task in the form of previous knowledge. Still within cognitive psychology another issue is discussed, namely, Paivio's dual-coding theory, which provides the specific theoretical basis for the major argument of this dissertation. Paivio's theory of memory comprises verbal and nonverbal representations and fits in neatly with the structure of written discourse. All theoretical issues are finally translated into suggestions of activities for each phase of a reading lesson. The underlying purpose is to bridge theory and practice towards a more efficient FL reading methodology for high-school students.

‘Intergenerational difference’ has become a lens through which to view issues of identity, social connectedness, belonging and agency in migrant youth research, highlighting that differences in the aspirations of migrant youth and their parents shape young people’s experiences. The article will present findings from a mixed methods study of social network participation among three migrant youth cohorts in two Australian cities to address a perceived ‘gap’ among migrant youth and parents’ aspirations for social network formation and participation. The paper will first examine current theoretical approaches to intergenerational challenges in migrant youth research. It will then introduce ‘intersectionality’ as a concept offering a more nuanced understanding of the challenges and hopes of migrant youth for whom social networks can be a gateway towards belonging and connectedness. This, however, requires a negotiation of complex structural, social and cultural factors.

In the early days of the Internet, both conventional wisdom and scholarship deemed online communication a threat to well-being. Later research has complicated this picture, offering mixed evidence about how technology-mediated communication affects users. With the dawn of social network sites, this issue is more important than ever. A close examination of the extensive body of research on social network sites suggests that conflicting results can be reconciled by a single theoretical approach: the interpersonal-connection-behaviors framework. Specifically, we suggest that social network sites benefit their users when they are used to make meaningful social connections and harm their users through pitfalls such as isolation and social comparison when they are not. The benefits and drawbacks of using social network sites shown in existing research can largely be explained by this approach, which also posits the need for studying specific online behaviors in future research.

The study examined socioeconomic determinants of farmers’ using social network in advancing agribusiness in Anambra State, Nigeria. Specifically, it described the socio-economic characteristics of the respondents, identified various social networks available and level of usage among the respondents, determined the influence of socio-economic factors on net marketing income among the respondents and identified the challenges of social network in advancing agribusiness by the respondents. Multi-stage, purposive and simple random methods were used to select one hundred and sixty respondents for the study. Data were collected from primary source. Primary data were collected using structured questionnaire. Collected data were analyzed by means of descriptive statistics, and multiple regression techniques. From the result, findings on the socioeconomic characteristics showed that farmers are relatively young, energetic, are in computer age and able to use phone and other devices to advance agribusiness in their area and beyond for optimum profit. Farmers are educated, married and there is male dominance in the use of social network in advancing agribusiness in the study area. The result showed that whatsapp, facebook, you tube and messenger were mostly used in advancing agribusiness in the study. Marital status, education, household size, means of delivery and marketing cost influenced net marketing income earned by the respondents. Lack of awareness, poor assessment of social network and costly charge of data when accessing the social network were perceived as the main constraints affecting agribusiness. Measures will be taken by appropriate authorities to reduce the tariff of data in accessing social network. Farmers should be trained more on the use of social network to advance their produce to the world. Network providers should of necessity improve their services to enable social network users to be effective. Keywords: Determinants, Social network, Agribusiness.
