Our study aimed to underline the morphological characters of 25 soybean varieties of both Romanian and foreign origin in the ecopedological background of SCDA Turda in the presence of a nitrogen-fixing bacteria indigenous to the soil. Activities undertaken to reach this goal encompassed carrying out biometrical determinations of the plants (root length, plant height and number of leaves) and registering the number of nodules for each separate variety. Analyzing the data regarding the afore-mentioned parameters revealed significant morphological differences between the varieties, all of which were statistically relevant.

Sage and mountain sage belong to Lamiaceae family which have commercial importance from medicinal and aromatic plants in Turkey. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of different doses of selenium in salinity conditions on the morphological characteristics of sage (Salvia officinalis L.) and mountain tea (Sideritis sp.). Four different doses of selenium (5, 10, 20, 40 mg/l) were applied in without salinity (0) and salinity (250 mM NaCl/l) medium. The experiment was carried out in the split plot design with three replications in the climate chamber room of the department of field crops. When the examined properties were evaluated; plant height changed between 15.56-23.85 cm, number of branches 10.50-12.78 number/plant, number of leaves 52.78-92.00 number/plant, fresh leaf weight 2.48-7.51 g/plant, dry leaf weight 0.48-3.32 g/plant, fresh root weight 1.52-7.16 g/plant, dry root weight 0.19-1.24 g/plant, root length 26.18-36.07 cm, fresh shoot weight of 1.13-7.15 g/plant and dry shoot weight 0.13-0.38 g/plant. In mountain tea, the properties were determined for plant height as 3.26-5.93 cm, for number of branches as 2.50-6.33 number/plant, for number of leaves as 28.22-91.14 number/plant, for fresh and dry leaf weights as 2.42-11,03 and 0.45-1.91 g/plant, for fresh and dry root weights as 0.71-3.97 and 0.18-0.74 g/plant, for root length as 14.78-33.26 cm, for fresh and dry shoot weights as 0.29-2.28 and 0.12-0.41 g/plant were determined. As a result of this study, 5 mg/l selenium application in salinity conditions in both plants has reached high values in terms of fresh leaf weights. In addition to this, it was found that selenium applications in salinity conditions had positive effects on dry leaf weight in sage and fresh root and fresh shoot weights in mountain tea. As a result of correlation analysis, positive correlations were found between dry leaf weight and other characteristics especially in mountain tea in terms of traits examined in both plants.

PGPR (Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria) is a substance that helps plant growth with the help of rhizosphere microorganisms. PGPR propagation can be done with liquid media. This PGPR propagation needs to be done because this substance has many benefits for agricultural cultivation. The application of PGPR to the test plant, namely the pakcoy plant, proved that there was an effect of giving PGPR to the plant. Observations on the test plants were carried out by observing several observation variables such as plant height, root length, number of leaves, wet weight and dry weight. The results of these observations showed that the effect on the test plants was seen in the variables of root length, wet weight, and dry weight. Meanwhile, the variable plant height and number of leaves did not show a visible difference.

To evaluate the effects of integrated nutrient management on growth and yield of BARI tomato-14 and soil fertility, a pot experiment was conducted in the net house of the department of Agricultural Chemistry of Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh during the period from October 2011 to April 2012. The experiment was laid out in a completely randomized design with 11 treatments and 3 replications. Treatments were control, RDCF100, 75% RDCF, 50% RDCF, 75% RDCF + PM2 t /ha, 75% RDCF + RS3 t /ha, 75% RDCF + PHRD, 50% RDCF + PM3 t /ha, 50% RDCF + RS5 t /ha, 50% RDCF + PHRD, PM3 t /ha + RS5 t /ha + PHRD. Among the treatments applied in combination of PM2 t /ha+ 75% of RDCF excelled in growth trends of morphological characters like plant height, number of branches plant- 1, number of leaves plant-1; available soil P and S. But sole application of RDCF100 recorded higher values for almost all morphological characters namely number of branches plant-1, number of leaves plant-1, fruit diameter, fruit weight plant-1 and yield of tomato following the same trend as seen in combined application of CF and PM. Among the plant hormone applied in combination, RDCF75% + PHRD showed the highest plant height. The more number of leaves plant-1, number of branches plant-1, yield and yield parameters as compared to other treatments were also significantly influenced by application of PH. Combined application of 50% of RDCF+RS5 t /ha increased exchangeable soil K. PM3 t /ha+ RS5 t /ha+ PHRD conserved more organic carbon and total soil N. Results showed that the integrated use of PM, RS along with CF increased the availability of nutrients throughout the growth period by maintaining the long term productivity for sustainable production of tomato. Our objective was to investigate the influence of alternative substrates based on stem decomposed by babassu and humic substances in the production of sunflower seedlings. The experimental design was randomized blocks, in a 3 x 4 factorial scheme (substrate x humic substances). Twelve treatments were studied, T1 (100% babassu stem decomposed (BDS) + 0 ml L-1 HS), T2 (100% BDS + 12.5 ml L-1 HS), T3 (100% BDS + 25 ml L-1 HS), T4 (100% DBS + 50 ml L-1 HS), T5 (50% DBS + 50% LAd + 0 ml L-1 HS), T6 (50% DBS + 50% LAd + 12, 5 ml L-1 HS), T7 (50% DBS + 50% LAd + 25 ml L-1 HS), T8 (50% DBS + 50% LAd + 50 ml L-1 HS), T9 (100% LAd + 0 ml L-1 HS), T10 (100% LAd + 12.5 ml L-1 HS), T11 (100% LAd + 25 ml L-1 HS) and T12 (100% LAd + 50 ml L-1 HS). Each treatment was performed in four replications with one seedling per plot, totaling 48 plots. The DBSxHS interaction provided increases in root length, root volume, basal diameter, number of leaves, plant height and parameters related to inflorescence. The substrate with 100% decomposed babassu stem, together with the dose of 12.5% humic substance, is the best option for producing 'IAC Uruguay' sunflower seedlings. Further research on the use of DBS and HS is needed to address the use and purpose in producing new crops.

In this study, the influence of biostimulants Radifarm® on basil transplants (Ocimum basilicum L.) growth and development was examined.Seedlings transplanted into the PVC containers φ9 cm,the plants were treated with the biostimulant concentration of 0.30% or untreated(control). During the experiment recorded the morphological indicators of growth and development of seedlings(plant height, number of leaves), and finally made measuring root length and fresh and dry weight of roots and above-groundparts.The aim of this study was to determine whether, to what extent and in what manner applied biostimulator impact on improved growth and root development of seedlings of basil, and thus improve the adaptation of the young seedlings in abiotical stress of transplanting into the open field. All the traits were affected by treatment with biostimulants a certain duration of the experiment.Research indicates that the use of biostimulants in the production of basil enhances the growth and development of roots and above-ground parts which is a prerequisite for faster plant adaptation on stress during transplanting.

The aim of this study was to determine the concentration and exposure time to NaCl suitable for the micropropagation of banana, through the analysis of growth traits. Banana propagules were inoculated in MS medium with different concentrations of NaCl (0; 50; 75 and 100 mM) for 120 days (multiplication and rooting, 60 days each), with monthly subcultures. These propagules were measured for plant height, number of leaves, sprouting rate, average number of formed propagules, rooting rate, root length and survival rate. After 30 days, NaCl reduced sprouting rate at multiplication; the number of leaves, rooting rate and root length in rooting; and the height and propagules number in both phases. After 60 days, the NaCl affected the sprouting rate and propagules number in the multiplication; length of root in rooting; and the height and number of leaves in both phases. After 120 days, the reduction in the survival rate was proportional to the increase of NaCl in the medium. Thus, it is concluded that NaCl reduces most of the growth traits and the treatments with 75 and 100 mM NaCl affected multiplication and in vitro rooting more intensely.

Nickel is an essential element for normal physiological functions in plants. At higher doses (>50 mg/kg, as per WHO) it is toxic to plants and humans, which can bring about oxidative stress affecting the physiological functions of plants and is also considered carcinogenic to human beings. To manage nickel pollution in environment, proper chemical or phytoremediation techniques are required. In this regard nickel accumulator plants would offer a cost effective and environmental friendly phytoremediation method. In the present study, the nickel phyto-accumulation potential of Amaranthus viridis from soil was evaluated to check the tolerance level and the impact on selected morphological parameters like total biomass, plant height, root length and number of leaves. Nickel uptake by A. viridis was studied from Ni contaminated soil amended with20, 40, 60, 80 mg/Kg of Ni exposure under controlled conditions. Toxic effects and tolerance of the plant to toxic doses of nickel was evaluated by correlating the uptake per gram of biomass with various parameters of plant like its height, biomass, root length and, number of leaves.  Supply dependent maximum nickel uptake of 108 µg/gm and corresponding decrease in growth parameters were recorded up to 60 mg/Kg exposure. This study indicates the uptake of nickel by A. viridis increases with increase in supply up to 60mg/kg and beyond 60 mg/kg, the uptake decreases. The study also shows uptake of nickel per gram of biomass has a significant  negative correlation mainly with parameters like plant height (R= -0.71 at 0.05 level of significance) and total biomass (R = -0.83 at 0.05 level of significance) where as other parameters like length of root and number of leavers are not significantly affected (P>0.05) with uptake of nickel per gram of biomass.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of inoculation of a plant growth promoter bacteria on the growth of micropropagated banana seedlings cultivar Williams under irrigation with water at different saline levels. The experiment was carried out in a greenhouse at Embrapa Agroindústria Tropical, Fortaleza, State of Ceará. The experimental design was in randomized blocks, in a 3 x 4 factorial scheme, corresponding to the three factors for growth promotion (negative control: water; Osmocote® slow-release fertilizer and a Bacillus spp. bacterium) subjected to four levels of irrigation water salinity (S1 = 0.5; S2 = 1.5; S3 = 3.0 and S4 = 4.5 dS m-1), and five blocks, totaling 60 experimental units. Sixty days after transplanting (DAT) and application of treatments, the following variables related to plant growth were measured: number of leaves (NL), pseudostem diameter (PD), plant height (PH), leaf area (LA), and root length (RL). The rise in saline levels in the irrigation water negatively influenced the variables number of leaves, pseudostem diameter, root length, and leaf area, showing a decreasing linear behavior. The variables number of leaves and leaf area of seedlings inoculated in association with Bacillus spp. did not differ from each other, regardless of the saline level. This indicated a likely increase in the response to the salinity tolerance of the seedlings. Treatment with Osmocote® fertilizer differed statistically for variables plant height, pseudostem diameter, and leaf area.
