Aiming at presenting the social, professional, legal and educational contexts which have founded the curriculum reforms in the Obstetrical Nursing major and specialization, the 35-year teaching history, experienced in the Nossa Senhora das Graças Nursing School of the Universidade de Pernambuco, in the city of Recife, Brazil, built based on documental analysis. The syllabuses of four reformulations performed in the Obstetrical Nursing major and two syllabuses of specialization courses in the same area, with explanation of the guiding framework of the reformulations concerned with humanized attention towards labor and birth. The historical evolution of this experience demonstrates how the university can build the social awareness role in the faculty, which can improve life quality of puerperae and their children, awarding them the right to perform their citizenship.

Abstract The district “New Praga” is located on the right-bank of Warsaw in North Praga which is one of the oldest districts of the city. The citizens of this district, where an analyzed building quarter is located, are people with a lower social status than the rest of Warsaw’s population, who benefit from the social assistance (30%); moreover, there are a large number of crimes and high unemployment among young people in this area. These data show how difficult is to modernize this area because the improvement of a construction tissue is not enough to fully help the local community. Financial resources are needed to increase the level of education that allows finding new jobs and improves the quality of life. Afterwards, the modernization of tenements should be taken care for.

Henri Lefebvre is now established as one of the most important social theorists of the 20th century. Over a long life (b. 1901–d. 1991) he wrote and published prodigiously more than sixty books and several hundred articles on a range of issues and themes. His legacy and lasting impact not only includes being the most influential and seminal theorist on the reprioritization of space in social and critical analysis but also recognition for his contribution to the analysis of everyday life, modernity, the Right to the City, and the urban. He continues to influence and inspire research across a number of disciplines and fields; these include rural and regional studies, sociology, geography, politics, philosophy, and urban studies. Lefebvre’s commitment Marxism; his nondogmatic and humanist approach to the definition, discussion, extension, and application of key concepts; and his integration of those concepts into his various analyses of the rural and the city, of the state, of space and politics, and of modernity and everyday life led him to a conflicted relationship and at times marginalization within the structuralist-influenced French Academy and the Communist Party of France in which he was a member for thirty years. His anti-Stalinist stance and nonconformist opposition to the structural determinism prevalent within the party led to his expulsion, but throughout the 1960s, as professor of sociology at the University of Strasbourg and latterly at the new university at Nanterre, he became one of the most respected teachers and intellectuals inspiring and influencing the May 1968 student revolt. Lefebvre’s work after that, still influenced and committed to Marxist dialectics and critique, increasingly focused on the urban, the social production of space, everyday life, modernity, and the survival of capitalism. Of these his introduction of the concept of the right to the city and the social production of space have been immensely influential for a range of urban scholars and theorists and his work as a whole is being increasingly adopted, adapted, and extended by a variety of researchers of the city in a range of disciplines. The works selected below reflect Lefebvre’s long career and extensive corpus of work. However, only those books and articles that have been translated into English are included here. They represent his exegesis of Marxism and its application to a range of themes that were applied or are important for urban analysis. The secondary literature cited is organized thematically and while not comprehensive provides an overview of the expanding literature on, about, and applying Lefebvrian analysis.

This article is the result of action research conducted during the postdoctoral research at the Department of Social Museology of the Lusophone University of Humanities and Technologies and the Center for Social Studies at the University of Coimbra, CES-UC, and presents the mobilization against the removal of “6 de Maio neighborhood”, located in Amadora, Lisbon Metropolitan Area, next to the social movement for the Right to Housing. The context is the transformation of the city into the “Lisbon of fashion”, which causes real estate valuation processes and takes on new meanings within the framework of the neoliberal logic of urban management. The consequences are assisted in the accelerated process of population replacement, triggered in certain areas of the city and the metropolitan region, which causes material and symbolic impacts to those affected. The article presents the “Memory Workshops” held in the “6 de Maio neighborhood” as a social movement strategy to trigger popular memory and boost the struggle for the right to housing. We sought to explore new forms of creative and affective resistance capable of acting in symbolic and immaterial spheres. Keywords: Memory Workshops; 6 de Maio, Amadora, Lisbon; Right to the city

Palavras-chave: Desigualdade Socioespacial; Cidades Médias; Urbanização; Direito a Cidade.    ASPECTS ABOUT THE URBAN PRECARITY ON THE NEIGHBORHOODS OF ITABERABA AND JOAO PAULO II IN JUAZEIRO (BA)  Abstract The neighborhoods of Joao Paulo II and Itaberaba are located in the southern part of the urban area of Juazeiro da Bahia, Brazil. The its residents' profile consists of low mean income people, migrants from other municipalities, with a large list of social demands for improvements in quality of life. In 2014, the project, "Building up the Right to the City from the Neighborhood", developed by researchers of the Federal University of the São Francisco Valley, it aimed to construct locally contextualized forms of action against processes that restrict the right to the city by a fraction of the population of Juazeiro. Understanding that the social use of space usually relegates lower income populations to areas with greater structural precariousness in urbanization, the project sought to understand the subjective appropriation of the neighborhood's space as a theoretical basis for intervention. This work is a synthesis of the results found and promotes a comparison between the areas of performance.  Key words: Socio-spatial Inequality; Medium Cities; Urbanization; Right to the City.   ASPECTOS DE PRECARIEDAD URBANA EN LOS BAIRROS ITABERABA Y JOAO PAULO II EN JUAZEIRO (BA) Resumen Los barrios João Paulo II e Itaberaba están situados en la región sur del área urbana de Juazeiro da Bahia, Brasil. When interacting on a learning task, which is typical of several academic situations, individuals may experience two different motives: Understanding the problem, or showing their competences. When a conflict (confrontation of divergent propositions) emerges from this interaction, it can be solved either in an epistemic way (focused on the task) or in a relational way (focused on the social comparison of competences). The latter is believed to be detrimental for learning. Moreover, research on cooperative learning shows that when they share identical information, partners are led to compare to each other, and are less encouraged to cooperate than when they share complementary information. An epistemic vs. relational conflict vs. no conflict was provoked in dyads composed by a participant and a confederate, working either on identical or on complementary information (N = 122). Results showed that, if relational and epistemic conflicts both entailed more perceived interactions and divergence than the control group, only relational conflict entailed more perceived comparison activities and a less positive relationship than the control group. Epistemic conflict resulted in a more positive perceived relationship than the control group. As far as performance is concerned, relational conflict led to a worse learning than epistemic conflict, and - after a delay - than the control group. An interaction between the two variables on delayed performance showed that epistemic and relational conflicts were different only when working with complementary information. This study shows the importance of the quality of relationship when sharing information during cooperative learning, a crucial factor to be taken into account when planning educational settings at the university.

Quality of life and satisfaction with life as tightly interconnected concepts have become of much importance in the urbanism era. No doubt, it is one of the most important goals of every human society to enhance a citizen’s quality of life and to increase their satisfaction with life. However, there are many signs which demonstrate the low level of life satisfaction of Iranian citizens especially among the youth. Thus, considering the temporal concept of life satisfaction, this research aims to make a futures study in this field. Therefore, using a mixed model and employing research methods from futures studies, life satisfaction among the students of the University of Tehran were measured and their views on this subject investigated. Both quantitative and qualitative data were analysed together in order to test the hypotheses and to address the research questions on the youth discontentment with quality of life. Findings showed that the level of life satisfaction among students is relatively low and their image of the future is not positive and not optimistic. These views were elicited and discussed in the social, economic, political, environmental and technological perspectives. Keywords:  futures studies, quality of life, satisfaction with life, youth

Shakespeare is well known to have set two of his plays in and around Venice: The Merchant of Venice (1596) and The Tragedy of Othello, the Moor of Venice (1603). The first is often remembered for its famous speech about “the quality of mercy,” delivered by the female lead Portia in the disguise of a legal scholar from the university town of Padua. The speech helps to spare the life of her new husband’s friend and financial backer against the claims of the Jewish moneylender Shylock. The play has raised questions for Shakespearean scholars about the choice of Venice as an open city where merchants of all nations and faiths would meet on the Rialto while the city’s Senate, composed of leading merchants, worked hard to keep it open to all and especially profitable for its merchants. Those who would like to learn more about the city’s development as a center of trade can learn much from Richard Mackenney’s new book.

Bodin arrived in Toulouse c.1550, a brief account of the economy, social composition, and governmental institutions of which opens the chapter. There follow comments on its cultural life and identification of its leading citizenry, with remarks on the treatment of alleged religious dissidents by the city itself, and especially on discordant intellectual influences at work in the University, most notably the Law Faculty and the modes of teaching there. The chapter’s second part reviews Bodin’s translation and edition of the Greek poem Cynegetica by Oppian ‘of Cilicia’, assessing the quality of his editorial work, the extent to which allegations of plagiarism levelled against him were valid, and the nature and merits of his translation. The third section recounts contemporary wrangling over educational provision in Toulouse and examines the Oratio in which Bodin argued the case for humanist-style educational provision by means of a reconstituted college there.
