RESUMO Objetivo: Avaliar os efeitos da espuma de feltro no tratamento da úlcera plantar do pé diabético. Método: Revisão sistemática, com metanálise. As buscas foram realizadas na Cochrane Library, PubMed, CINAHL, Science Direct, Web of Science, SCOPUS, IBECS e LILACS. A Cochrane Collaboration Risk of Bias Tool foi utilizada para a avaliação do risco de viés. As metanálises foram calculadas pelo programa Review Manager, enquanto o Grades of Recommendation, Assessment, Development and Evaluation foi utilizado para a avaliação da qualidade da evidência. Resultados: Foram incluídos quatro ensaios clínicos e duas coortes. Houve a redução de 10,77 quilos pascais (IC 95% −14,92, −6,62; p<0,001) na média de pressão plantar dos indivíduos expostos ao feltro. Conclusão: Evidenciou-se maior redução da pressão plantar com o uso do feltro. Recomenda-se o desenvolvimento de novos modelos de órteses de alívio de pressão plantar a partir da espuma de feltro, acompanhado de mais pesquisas clínicas que elucidem outros desfechos relacionados.

Introduction: The objective of this systematic review is to assess the effect of vibrational force on biomarkers for orthodontic tooth movement. Methods: An electronic search was conducted for relevant studies (up to December 31, 2020) on the following databases: Pubmed, Google scholar, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Wiley Library, and ProQuest Dissertation Abstracts and Thesis database. Hand searching of selected orthodontic journals was also undertaken. The selected studies were assessed for the risk of bias in Cochrane collaboration risk of bias tool. The “traffic plot” and “weighted plot” risk of bias distribution are designed in the RoB 2 tool. The 2 authors extracted the data and analyzed it. Results: Six studies fulfilled the inclusion criteria. The risks of biases were high for 4, low and some concern for other 2 studies. The biomarkers, medium, device, frequency and duration of device, as well as other data were extracted. The outcomes of the studies were found to be heterogenous. Conclusion: One study showed highly statistically significant levels of IL-1 beta with <.001. Rate of tooth movement was correlated with levels of released biomarkers under the influence of vibrational force in 3 studies, but it was found to be significant only in 1 study. It was further observed that vibration does not have any significant reduction in pain and discomfort.

ABSTRACT Objective: to evaluate the effects of trolamine in the prevention or treatment of radiation dermatitis. Method: systematic review and meta-analysis. Detailed individual search strategies for Cinahl, Cochrane Library Central, LILACS, PubMed, and Web of Science were developed in January 2016. A manual search was also performed to find additional references. A grey literature search was executed by using Google Scholar. Two researchers independently read the titles and abstracts from every cross-reference. The risk of bias of the included studies was analyzed by the Cochrane Collaboration Risk of Bias Tool. The quality of evidence and grading of strength of recommendations was assessed using Grades of Recommendation, Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE). Results: seven controlled clinical trials were identified. The controls used were calendula, placebo, institutional preference / usual care, Aquaphor®, RadiaCare™, and Lipiderm™. The studies were pooled using frequency of events and risk ratio with 95% confidence intervals, in subgroups according to radiation dermatitis graduation. Conclusion: based on the studies included in this review, trolamine cannot be considered as a standardized product to prevent or treat radiation dermatitis in patients with breast and head and neck cancer.

Background As a novel ultrasonic technique, superb microvascular imaging (SMI) can quickly, simply and noninvasively observe the microvascular distribution in a tumor and evaluate the microvascular perfusion. Previous studies have shown that SMI can detect the blood flow signals of neovascularization in tumors and increase the sensitivity for detecting thyroid cancer. However, the results of these studies have been contradictory, and the sample sizes were too small. Therefore, the present meta-analysis will aim at evaluating the value of a thyroid imaging report and data system (TI-RADS) combined with SMI in distinguishing between benign and malignant thyroid nodules. Methods We will search PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Google Scholar, and Chinese biomedical databases from their inceptions to the June 31, 2020. Two authors will independently carry out searching literature records; scanning titles, abstracts, and full texts; collecting data; and assessing risk of bias. Review Manager 5.2 and Stata14.0 software will be used for data analysis. Results This systematic review will evaluate the value of TI-RADS combined with SMI in distinguishing between benign and malignant thyroid nodules. Systematic review registration INPLASY202070113.

O objetivo foi avaliar se a resina composta fluida em lesões cervicais não cariosas (LCNCs) melhora as taxas de retenção, descoloração marginal e adaptação, em pacientes adultos, por meio de uma revisão sistemática e metanálise. Foram pesquisadas sem restrições as bibliotecas Medline, Scopus, Web  of Science, Lilacs, BBO, Cochrane Library e SIGLE (bases cinzentas), resumos do IADR     e registros de ensaios clínicos (REBEC). Dissertações e teses também foram pesquisadas através das bases de dados ProQuest Dissertações e Periódicos Capes Teses. Foram incluídos apenas ensaios clínicos randomizados que compararam as restaurações com resina composta fluida e resina composta de viscosidade regular em LCNCs. A ferramenta da Cochrane Collaboration foi utilizada para avaliar o risco de viés dos estudos elegíveis. A ferramenta GRADE foi usada para avaliar a qualidade da evidência para cada estudo, de acordo com seus resultados. Após a remoção de duplicatas e avaliação por títulos e abstracts, 8 estudos mantiveram-se para a análise qualitativa. Não foi observada diferença significativa entre os grupos quanto a retenção nem descoloração marginal em todos os períodos avaliados (1 a 3 anos). Observou-se melhor adaptação marginal para as restaurações que foram realizadas com resina fluida. A qualidade da evidência foi classificada como moderada para perda ou retenção aos 3 anos e baixa e/ou muito baixa para todos os outros desfechos. Concluiu-se que a viscosidade da resina composta não influencia as taxas de retenção e descoloração marginal das restaurações em LCNCs.Palavras-chave: Lesões Cervicais. Flow. Zusammenfassung Hintergrund Mehr als 340 Millionen Kinder gelten weltweit als übergewichtig oder adipös, ihre Anzahl nahm in den letzten Jahren – auch durch die Coronapandemie – erheblich zu. Eine alternative Behandlung zur Reduzierung des Übergewichts, die in den Empfehlungen bisher keine große Beachtung findet, stellt das sogenannte hochintensive Intervalltraining (HIIT) dar. Ziel Darstellung der Wirksamkeit von hochintensivem Intervalltraining auf den BMI und Körperfettanteil übergewichtiger und adipöser Kinder im Alter von 6–13 Jahren. Methode Die Erstellung der systematischen Übersichtsarbeit orientierte sich an den PRISMA-Guidelines. Für die Literaturrecherche wurden die Datenbanken MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, CINAHL, Embase, Sports Medicine & Education Index und Web of Science nach Studien mit hochintensivem Intervalltraining für übergewichtige und adipöse Kinder durchsucht. Die Bewertung der methodischen Studienqualität erfolgte mittels PEDro-Skala, MINORS und Risk of Bias. Die Berichtsqualität wurde anhand von CONSORT und TREND bewertet. Ergebnisse Es wurden 6 randomisierte kontrollierte Studien und 2 kontrollierte klinische Studien mit 479 HIIT-Teilnehmenden betrachtet. Diese zeigten, dass hochintensives Intervalltraining positive Auswirkungen auf den BMI und Körperfettanteil übergewichtiger und adipöser Kinder hat. Schlussfolgerung Hochintensives Intervalltraining ist eine kinderfreundliche und zugleich effektive Alternative zur Behandlung von übergewichtigen und adipösen Kindern. Weitere klinische Studien sind erforderlich, um die Ergebnisse zu bekräftigen.

Aim: The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to investigate the possible association between smoking habits and the occurrence of root-filled teeth (RFT) extraction. Material and Methods: The Population, Intervention, Comparison, and Outcome (PICO) question was in adult patients who had RFT, does the absence or presence of smoking habits affect the prevalence of extracted RFT? Systematic MEDLINE/PubMed, Wiley Online Database, Web of Science, and PRISMA protocol was used to evaluate and present the results. The Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) system was used for certainty in the evidence. The risk of bias was assessed according to Cochrane Collaboration common scheme for bias and ROBINS-I tool. Cumulative meta-analysis was performed with a random effects model. PROSPERO registration code: CRD42020165279. Results: After search strategy, 571 articles were recovered, seven were selected for full-text analysis, and two reported data on inclusion criteria, including 516 RFT, 351 in non-smokers, and 165 in smoker subjects. The meta-analysis provided an odds ratio indicating significant association between smoking and the prevalence of extracted RFT (OR = 3.43, 95% CI = 1.17–10.05, p = 0.02, I² = 64%). The certainty of the literature assessment was low per GRADE. Both studies were considered as moderate risk of bias. Conclusions: Tobacco smoking should be considered a negative prognostic factor for the outcome of root canal treatment, although the quality of the evidence is low. RFT of smoking patients are three times more likely to be extracted. Continuing to smoke after endodontic treatment may increase the risk of treatment failure. However, the overall strength of evidence is low. This must be considered a limitation of the present study and the conclusion should be valued with caution.

<p class="Abstract">The aim of this meta-analysis was to assess the association between SLCO1B3 gene polymorphism and prostate cancer risk. PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science from inception to September 2017 were searched. Three authors independently selected studies, extracted data and assessed risk of bias. 5 articles published from 2008 to 2013 with 840 patients were included in this meta-analysis and were from Japan, USA and China. The prostate cancer risk of SLCO1B3 (rs4149117, GG) was markedly higher than that of SLCO1B3 (rs4149117, TT/TG, RR= 0.44, 95%CI: 0.39-0.49, p&lt;0.00001), rs4149117 (TT, RR= 0.37, 95%CI: 0.32-0.42, p&lt;0.00001) and rs4149117 (TG, RR= 0.07, 95%CI: 0.05-0.10, p&lt;0.00001). 2 or 5 years risk  free symptoms (RFS) of prostate cancer patient with SLCO1B3 (rs4149117, GG) was markedly higher than that of SLCO1B3 (rs4149117, TT/TG) (RR= -0.17, 95% CI: -0.27--0.07, p= 0.001 and RR= -0.08, 95% CI: -0.16-0.00, p= 0.004). However, no evidence showed there existed significant statistical relationship between SLCO1B3 (rs4149117) and 10 years RFS of prostate cancer (RR= -0.07, 95% CI: -0.19-0.06, p= 0.29). These data suggest that SLCO1B3 (rs4149117, GG) enhanced the RFS of prostate cancer.</p>

IntroductionInternal temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders are present in approximately 80% of patients with symptomatic temporomandibular disorders. Among the minimally invasive therapies, we find the intra-articular infiltration of substances, such as corticosteroids, hyaluronic acid or platelet-rich plasma accompanied or not by an arthrocentesis. There are several studies on minimally invasive therapy for internal TMJ disorders; however, none compares the effectiveness of the different intra-articular corticosteroids to each other.The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the different intra-articular corticosteroids for the treatment of internal disorders of the TMJ and compare them to each other or to other minimally invasive therapies.Methods and analysisA systematic search will be carried out up to December 2019 in the electronic databases: Medline, Cochrane Library, EMBASE, SCOPUS and LILACS.Randomised clinical trials evaluating patients with internal disorders of the TMJ, with intra-articular corticosteroid therapy and comparing these to each other and/or to other minimally invasive therapy will be included. The main outcomes will be pain and range of motion measured through validated scales.Two review authors will independently screen search results, extract data from included studies and assess the risk of bias in those studies using the Revised Cochrane Risk of Bias Tool (RoB 2.0). In the case of any discrepancy and failure to reach consensus, this will be resolved by a third reviewer.A network meta-analysis will be conducted based on direct comparisons to generate indirect comparisons of the different treatments. Data will be combined in a meta-analysis using a random effects model.The principles of the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) system will be used to assess the overall quality of the body of evidence associated with the main results.Ethics and disseminationThis protocol will not require ethical approval. ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate the changes in apical base sagittal relationship in Class II treatment with and without premolar extractions. Materials and Methods: Controlled studies evaluating ANB angle changes after Class II Division 1 malocclusion treatment with or without premolar extractions were considered. Electronic databases (PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Scopus, The Cochrane Library, Lilacs, and Google Scholar) without limitations regarding publication year or language were searched. Risk of bias was assessed with Risk Of Bias in Non-randomized Studies—of Interventions tool of the Cochrane Collaboration. Mean difference (MD) and 95% confidence interval (CI) were calculated from the random-effects meta-analysis. Subgroup and sensitivity analyses were also performed. Results: Twenty-five studies satisfied the inclusion criteria and were included in the qualitative synthesis. Eleven nonextraction and only one extraction Class II treatment studies presented untreated Class II control group. Therefore, meta-analysis was performed only for the nonextraction protocol. In treated Class II nonextraction patients, the average of the various effects was a reduction in the ANB angle of 1.56° (95% CI: 1.03, 2.09, P &lt; .001) compared with untreated Class II subjects. Class II malocclusions treated with two maxillary-premolar extractions and four-premolar extractions produced estimated mean reductions in ANB of −1.88° and −2.55°, respectively. However, there is a lack of low-risk-of-bias studies. Conclusions: According to the existing low quality evidence, the apical base sagittal relationship in nonextraction, two-maxillary and four-premolar extractions Class II treatments decreases −1.56°, 1.88° and 2.55°, respectively. Further studies are necessary to obtain more robust information.

SUMMARY The literature was reviewed to evaluate the compliance of randomized clinical trials (RCTs) with the CONsolidated Standards of Reporting Trials (CONSORT ) and the risk of bias of these studies through the Cochrane Collaboration risk of bias tool (CCRT). RCTs were searched at Cochrane Library, PubMed, and other electronic databases to find studies about adhesive systems for cervical lesions. The compliance of the articles with CONSORT was evaluated using the following scale: 0 = no description, 1 = poor description, and 2 = adequate description. Descriptive analyses about the number of studies by journal, follow-up period, country, and quality assessments were performed with CCRT for assessing risk of bias in RCTs. One hundred thirty-eight RCTs were left for assessment. More than 30% of the studies received scores of 0 or 1. Flow chart, effect size, allocation concealment, and sample size were more critical items, with 80% receiving a score of 0. The overall CONSORT score for the included studies was 15.0 ± 4.8 points, which represents 46.9% of the maximum CONSORT score. A significant difference among countries was observed (p&lt;0.001), as well as range of year (p&lt;0.001). Only 4.3% of the studies were judged as at low risk; 36.2% were classified as having unclear risk and 59.4% as having high risk of bias. The adherence of RCTs evaluating adhesive systems to the CONSORT is low with unclear/high risk of bias.
