The main purpose of this study is to demonstrate the past way of gardens’ development throughout the men’s history. The onset was the creation of the first gardens, later on, their evolution related to their type and purpose, finally there are concerns about the external factors that instigated the flourishing of horticulture. Monastic medicine is one of the key issues thus this study contains a dedicated chapter about this topic since it is really important how the medical use of herbs evolved throughout the past times. There is also presented the botanical garden—one of the main garden types—using the specific example of this country’s greatest Füvészkert (Herbal Garden) in Hungary. Since ever, there was fiercely debated the therapeutic classification of herbal medicines, if their safety and efficacy were proven, and whether there were needed legislation about their administration. A specific chapter is concerning these issues too. There are also presented outcomes of online questionnaire-based research answered by 700 responders.

Desetletno obdobje izhajanja Biltena Slovenske vojske (Bilten SV) je priložnost za analizo prehojene poti, pa tudi za pogled v prihodnost. V članku so predstavljeni kvantitativni kazalci uspešnosti izhajanja publikacije: pregled izdanih številk, število prispevkov, število natisnjenih strani in obravnavanih vprašanj z različnih področij delovanja Slovenske vojske in širšega obrambnega sistema ter število avtorjev. Temu izzivu sledijo predstavljena vizija in strategija uredniškega odbora ter predvsem povabilo k širjenju kroga ustvarjalcev in mreže prejemnikov oziroma bralcev. The tenth anniversary of the Slovenian Armed Forces' Bulletin (in the further text: SAF Bulletin) provides an opportunity to make an indepth analysis of the past and a view to the future. The article presents analytical indicators of the past period and achievements in terms of the number of issues, printed pages and topics covering various areas of Slovenian Armed Forces' operations and beyond. More than 150 authors have participated in the creation of almost 200 predominantly subjectmatter related articles. The beginning of the year 2008 saw the establishment of the new editorial board, the seventh in the row that set some ambitious goals also described in this article. The main challenges are linked with the desire and goal of the SAF Bulletin editorial policy to improve its ranking in the classification of professional publications, to upgrade the level of professionalism and to increase the number of scientific articles, thereby reflecting the level of expertise and professionalism of the Slovenian Armed Forces. This challenge is the basis for the presented vision and strategy of the editorial board and, most of all, an invitation to expand the network of authors, subscribers and readers.

Cryptocurrencies are digital assets desig ned to work as a medium of exchange that uses cryptography to secure its transactions, to control the creation of additional units, and to verify the transfer of assets. In the past few years there is a growing number of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple, etc. In my paper and presentation I would like to present the difficulties of the legal classification of cryptocurrencies. Countries all over the world have different solutions to this question. It is not written in stone whether cryptocurrencies should be considered a currency, a commodity, or an investment. In my study I examine each of these possibilities.

The article deals with the notion of communicative failure as one of the key issues in communicative linguistics. The types of communicative failures are examined and the main causes that become a catalyst for the creation of Internet memes are analyzed. Scientists in communicative linguistics mainly explore the processes that help to create the images of a "perfect speaker" or a "perfect listener", since the factors which contribute to successful communication are certainly one of the most important tasks in this field. However, taking into account all the key factors that may influence a communicative act when using a language in the process of real communication, there is always a place for linguistic asymmetry. Therefore, it is not surprising that one of the main issues in communicative linguistics is the phenomenon of communicative failure, its causes and consequences. Having analyzed a certain number of memes according to the generalized classification of F. S. Batsevych in order to identify the main reasons for the Internet memes formation, we conclude that communicative failure is a very popular phenomenon, which occurs constantly and everywhere, where interaction takes place. All types of communicative failures can serve as a background for Internet memes. In our future research, we intend to focus on exploring the strategies and tactics of the communicative act based on English-language Internet memes.

The 2nd international scientific conference «Fundamental problems of vegetation classification» took place at the Nikitskiy Botanical Garden (Yalta, Republic of Crimea, Russia) on 15–20 September 2019. There were 56 participants from 33 cities and 43 research organizations in Russia. The conference was mostly focused on reviewing the success in classification of the vegetation done by Russian scientists in the past three years. The reports covered various topics such as classification, description of new syntaxonomical units, geobotanical mapping for different territories and types of vegetation, studies of space-time dynamics of plant communities. The final discussion on the last day covered problems yet to be solved: establishment of the Russian Prodromus and the National archive of vegetation, complications of higher education in the profile of geobotany, and the issue of the data leakage to foreign scientific journals. In conclusion, it was announced that the 3rd conference in Nikitskiy Botanical Garden will be held in 2022.

Tulpamancy is a practice that involves the creation of imagined sentient companions, tulpas, who abide within their human host's mind. The primary aim of our study was to examine the personality characteristics of tulpas and their hosts. Further, we examined the role of personality similarity in predicting relationship satisfaction. Individuals with tulpas completed an online questionnaire of host and tulpa personality and scales of host’s relationship satisfaction. Our pre-registered analyses (https://aspredicted.org/blind.php?x= bi484h) found that hosts reported positive experiences with their tulpas. While we predicted that the personalities of the host and tulpa would be complementary, our results indicated they were more consistent with a similarity perspective. Finally, our hypothesis that the personalities of hosts and tulpas would be related to perceived relationship satisfaction was supported for certain personality characteristics. Our results provide evidence that the tulpa-host relationship may function as a beneficial mechanism in the lives of the host.

This article discusses, first, the role of the i-prefix in the so-called “nominal” sḏm-f paradigm in earliest Old Egyptian textual data. It is argued that this represented a means of facilitating the creation of a distinctive syllabic structure with 2rad roots and of harmonising it with that of the 2red and 3inf classes. Second, the study contains a partial revision of some of the key issues treated in an earlier article by the present author on the role of the similarly written prefix in the subjunctive and “circumstantial” sḏm-f paradigms.

The history of the Turkestan Jadid movement and the study of Jadid literature show that it has not been easy to study this subject. The socio-political environment of the time led to the blind reduction of the history of continuous development of Uzbek literature, artificial reduction of the literary heritage of the past on the basis of dogmatic thinking, neglect of the study of works of art and literary figures. As a result, the creation of literary figures of a certain period, no matter how important, remained unexplored.

‘I could not see any place in science for my creativity or imagination’, was the explanation, of a bright school leaver to the author, of why she had abandoned all study of science. Yet as any scientist knows, the imagination is essential to the immense task of re-creating a shared model of nature from the scale of the cosmos, through biological complexity, to the smallest subatomic structures. Encounters like that one inspired this book, which takes a journey through the creative process in the arts as well as sciences. Visiting great creative people of the past, it also draws on personal accounts of scientists, artists, mathematicians, writers, and musicians today to explore the commonalities and differences in creation. Tom McLeish finds that the ‘Two Cultures’ division between the arts and the sciences is not after all, the best classification of creative processes, for all creation calls on the power of the imagination within the constraints of form. Instead, the three modes of visual, textual, and abstract imagination have woven the stories of the arts and sciences together, but using different tools. As well as panoramic assessments of creativity, calling on ideas from the ancient world, medieval thought, and twentieth-century philosophy and theology, The Poetry and Music of Science illustrates its emerging story by specific close-up explorations of musical (Schumann), literary (James, Woolf, Goethe) mathematical (Wiles), and scientific (Humboldt, Einstein) creation. The book concludes by asking how creativity contributes to what it means to be human.
