Introduction: Cytogenetics has become an integral part of Multiple Myeloma (MM) diagnosis and prognostication. A combination of conventional cytogenetics and interphase Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization (FISH) is currently used to stratify tumours into high, intermediate and standard risk disease. Aim: To compare the morphological details of plasma cells with cytogenetic abnormalities. Materials and Methods: The present retrospective cross sectional study was conducted at Department of Pathology Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana in three and a half year duration (1st January 2014 to 30th June 2017). All the diagnosed MM patients in whom cytogenetic was available were included and descriptive analysis was done using Chi-Square test and relevant statistical analysis using SPSS 21 version. Correlation was done with various morphological pattern (plasmacytic, plasma blastic). Results: Cytogenetic studies were performed on 42 cases using FISH technique (n=31, 81.6%) and GTG (Giemsa) banding (n=4, 10.5%). Three (7.9%) patients were tested with both methods. In the present study, all the patients (n=2,100%) with plasmablastic morphology who got tested with cytogenetics had del13q14.3 and none of the patients with normal genome (n=22) had plasmablastic morphology. Conclusion: Morphologic patterns of plasma cells and cytogenetic studies correlate well and can together help in better prognostication of MM patients.

Background: Skin health and mental health are highly correlated. Considering that less attention has been paid to multidisciplinary fields, we evaluated the prevalence of mental disorders and related problems in patients with acne vulgaris in the city of Rafsanjan, Iran. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study. The study population included all patients with acne vulgaris in Rafsanjan who were referred in 2016 to a skin and hair clinic. After the patients agreed to participate, they underwent a psychological interview. Using the Hamilton Anxiety Scale, Beck Depression Inventory, and suicide questionnaires, their data were recorded and collected. Data were then analyzed using the chi-square test and Fisher’s exact test. Results: Of 100 patients evaluated (48 women and 52 men), 8% had severe anxiety, 61% had moderate anxiety, and 31% had mild anxiety. Moreover, 64% of patients had mild depression, 29% had moderate depression, and 7% had severe depression. Of all patients, only one had a high risk for suicide attempts. We did not find any significant relationship between anxiety or suicide disorder and any of following variables: marital status, disease duration, amount of lesions, location of lesions, and expansion of lesions. We observed that with increasing duration of illness, expansion of lesions, and level of lesions, depression increased significantly in patients with acne vulgaris. Location of lesions was not associated with depression. Conclusion: The prevalence of anxiety and depression is high in patients with acne vulgaris. Acne disease is more significantly correlated with depression.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the knowledge of pediatricians on the integrality of attention to oral health in early childhood. A cross-sectional study was conducted with a sample consisting of 70 doctors, working in public and private services, in the city of Belém, state of Pará, Brazil. Data were collected using a questionnaire with approaches on: the professional profile; the knowledge of oral health of children; the use of fluoride; and self-perception on knowledge of oral health. A descriptive analysis of the data was performed, and the association between variables was verified with the Chi-square test, with p = 0.05. The average age of respondents was 41 years. Most professionals were females (88.57%) and featured more than 20 years of professional experience (38.57%). In general, most pediatricians answered satisfactorily the questions related to knowledge of children's oral health. However, when questioned about the knowledge of the use of fluoride, most professionals (92.86%) presented outdated knowledge that could result in inappropriate conduct. It was concluded that most pediatricians have knowledge of oral health promotion, although some concepts and conducts should be updated, especially the importance of fluorides in the control of tooth decay.

Descriptive analysis used to identify the demographic, social and economic characteristics of the sample and the consumer empowerment index. The inferential analysis used in this study include chi-square test and logistic regression. The level of consumer empowerment in electronic products only 41.78 that belongs to capable category. The largest index was found in goods selection dimension (88.33) and the lowest (6.4) on behavior complaint dimension. The result of this study showed that female, early-aged adult (18-40 year), higher education, employed, income between Rp2 000 000-Rp3 000 000 per capita per month, origin from the urban area, and family size ≤ 4 were the most empowered consumers.
