In his philosophical writings, Coleridge increasingly developed his thinking about imagination, a symbolizing precursor to contemplation, to a theory of contemplation itself, which for him occurs in its purest form as a manifestation of ‘Reason’. Coleridge is a particularly challenging figure because he was a thinker in process, and something of an omnimath, a Renaissance man of the Romantic era. The dynamic quality of his thinking, the ‘dark fluxion’ pursued but ultimately ‘unfixable by thought’, and his extensive range of interests make essential an approach that is philosophical yet also multi-disciplinary. This is the first collection of essays to be written mainly by philosophers and intellectual historians on a wide range of Coleridge’s philosophical writings. With a foreword by Baroness Mary Warnock, and original essays on Coleridge and Contemplation by prominent philosophers such as Sir Roger Scruton, David E. Cooper, Michael McGhee, and Andy Hamilton, this volume provides a stimulating collection of insights and explorations into what Britain’s foremost philosopher-poet had to say about the contemplation that he considered to be the highest of the human mental powers. The essays by philosophers are supported by new developments in philosophically minded criticism from Coleridge scholars in English departments, including Jim Mays, Kathleen Wheeler, and James Engell. They approach Coleridge as an energetic yet contemplative thinker concerned with the intuition of ideas and the processes of cultivation in self and society. Other essays, from intellectual historians and theologians, clarify the historical background, and ‘religious musings’, of Coleridge’s thought regarding contemplation.

The formability of the drawn part in the deep drawing process depends not only on the material properties, but also on the equipment used, metal flow control and tool parameters. The most common defects can be the thickening, stretching and splitting. However, the optimization of tools including the die and punch parameters leads to a reduction of the defects and improves the quality of the products. In this paper, the formability of the camera cover by aluminum alloy A1050 in the deep drawing process was examined relating to the tool geometry parameters based on numerical and experimental analyses. The results showed that the thickness was the smallest and the stress was the highest at one of the bottom corners where the biaxial stretching was the predominant mode of deformation. The problems of the thickening at the flange area, the stretching at the side wall and the splitting at the bottom corners could be prevented when the tool parameters were optimized that related to the thickness and stress. It was clear that the optimal thickness distribution of the camera cover was obtained by the design of tools with the best values—with the die edge radius 10 times, the pocket radius on the bottom of the die 5 times, and the punch nose radius 2.5 times the sheet thickness. Additionally, the quality of the camera cover was improved with a maximum thinning of 25% experimentally, and it was within the suggested maximum allowable thickness reduction of 45% for various industrial applications after optimizing the tool geometry parameters in the deep drawing process.

The disadvantage of aerostatic bearings is their low dynamic quality. The negative impact on the dynamic characteristics of the bearing is exerted by the volume of air contained in the bearing gap, pockets, and microgrooves located at the outlet of the feeding diaphragms. Reducing the volume of air in the flow path is a resource for increasing the dynamic quality of the aerostatic bearing. This article presents an improved design of an axial aerostatic bearing with simple diaphragms, an annular microgroove, and an elastic suspension of the movable center of the supporting disk. A mathematical model is presented and a methodology for calculating the static characteristics of a bearing and dynamic quality indicators is described. The calculations were carried out using dimensionless quantities, which made it possible to reduce the number of variable parameters. A new method for solving linearized and Laplace-transformed boundary value problems for transformants of air pressure dynamic functions in the bearing layer was applied, which made it possible to obtain a numerical solution of problems sufficient for practice accuracy. The optimization of the criteria for the dynamic quality of the bearing was carried out. It is shown that the use of an elastic suspension of the support center improves its dynamic characteristics by reducing the volume of compressed air in the bearing layer and choosing the optimal volume of the microgroove.

An examination of the steps in systems design reveals it to be an iterative process. The complexity and dynamic quality of the educational environment require designers of educational technology systems to emphasize this process and at the same time take into account conditions within the education system and the community that provide essential data. Examples of attempts to cope with these features of the design processes are presented along with implications for changes in the approach to the design of educational technology systems.

The mandible is the most important bone structure of the facial makeup. Its morphology differs with respect to genetic factors, sexual dimorphism, and age. Among its particular characteristics is the ability to adapt with its counterpart, the base of the skull, conferring a dynamic quality of this bone, by the mechanism of constant remodeling. In order to understand the involvement of the mandible in the evaluation of the lower third of the face, a fractional analysis of its parts is necessary considering morphological parameters of the mandibular angle. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the importance of the mandible as an instrument in the analysis of the lower third of the face, allowing the accomplishment of aesthetic treatment, respecting the individual characteristics.

This research is a study of the turning process by testing with brass material. There are three control factors: spindle of speed, feed rate, and depth of cut respectively. The turning process requires variable control, affect the quality of production productivity and production costplanning an experiment with the Taguchi Method help in theexperiment the analysis of variance, orthogonal array, and signal and noise ratios were considered as an experiment and survey of brass turning characteristics to determine the lowest material removal rate. The results obtained from the experiment were used to repeat the experiment for confirmation. This requires the turning process to be reliable and optimized

This article discusses the results of tests of SIW-4 internal grinding machines, to get an idea of the level of technological reliability of the machines. Further, recommendations are formulated for repair and maintenance work in the event of its reduction, when testing machines of one model, you can determine the reference machine for processing quality and dynamic quality, and then plan and implement an action plan to improve the dynamic quality of machines to the standard level within the framework of the process monitoring system (SMTP).

CoCrMo alloys, which are well-known Co-based biomedical alloys, have many different types of surface integrity problems reported in literature. Residual stresses, white layer formation and work hardening layers are some those, matters which occur as a microstructural alteration during machining. Therefore, such problems should be solved and surface quality of end products should be improved. In this paper, the surface quality of CoCrMo alloy used in tibial component of the knee prosthesis produced by means of turning was investigated. An improvement was suggested and discussed for the improvement in their machinability with the developed turning-grinding method. Finite element analyses were also carried out to calculate temperature and thermal stresses distribution between the tool and the tibial component. The results showed that many parameters such as cutting speed, feed rate, depth of cut, tool geometry, and tool wear affect the surface quality of workpieces of CoCrMo alloy. In the turning-grinding method, the machining time is reduced by about six times compared to machining only method. The EDX analysis performed on the surface after machining showed that metal diffusion occurred from tool to the tibial component.
