The objective of the study is to conduct a comprative analysis of the kickboxers experimental and control groups' performance. Materials and methods. The pedagogical study involved 60 kickboxers who were at the stage of preliminary basic training. There were formed two homogeneous groups. The experimental group consisted of 30 people in three categories: I (67 kg), II (70 kg), III (74 kg). There were 10 people in each category. The control group also consisted of 30 people in the same three categories: I (67 kg), II (70 kg), III (74 kg). There were also 10 people in each category. Results. The ratio of impact techniques quantitative indicators between the control and experimental groups determines the effectiveness of kickboxers’ impact techniques at the stage of preliminary basic training, taking into account the weight categories, where the experimental group significantly exceeded (p ≤ 0.05) the control group by all indicators. Conclusions. The study of existing research has revealed that the analysis of motor performance techniques of kickboxers can be a component of training to improve the efficiency of the training process and the effectiveness of competitive activities. The analysis of the special literature allowed to determine the most frequently performed percussion techniques in oriental martial arts. The results obtained after the experiment indicate that the indicators of technical motor actions of kickboxers in the experimental group are significantly higher (p ≤ 0.05) than in the control group. A detailed analysis of the technique of percussion among kickboxers allowed to establish the difference in technical training between athletes of the experimental and control groups, taking into account weight categories during the performance of eight strokes for the first category (67 kg) were in the range of 14.7-36.3% (in the second category, 70 kg) – 15.0-51.2% and III category (74 kg) – 15.3-66.6% in favor of the experimental group.

This study was undertaken to investigate the outcome of using the activity based learning method on the development of writing skills of students of grade 6. The study used pretest post-test equivalent group design. 50 students were randomly selected from a government school as sample for this study. They were divided into experimental and control groups based on the scores they achieved in pre-test. Students in the experimentalgroup received instruction through activity based method of learning. In contrast, the traditional method of teaching writing was used for teaching the control group. A comparison of pre- and post-test scores on writing measure evidenced that the experimental group performed better that the control group on writing post-test. It was concluded that activities helped enhance the writing skills of the experimental group. This finding suggests that students of elementary level should be engaged in activity based learning to enhance their writing skills.

Given the importance of relieving pain and disability experienced by the patients, the present study aimed to study the Effects of topical olive oil on the pain intensity among patients with knee osteoarthritis. The patients were randomly assigned into the experimental (28 patients) and control groups (27 patients). Firstly, in tropical olive oil (TOO) group, a high-quality olive oil, branded as Famila was used and in the control group, Diclofenac gel was applied. In experimental groups, 5 drops of herbal oils were applied to the knee thrice a day at morning, noon and evening and the knees were covered with a nylon sheet for more absorption. The patients were followed up for 4 weeks and their capability and pain intensities were evaluated prior the study, during the first week, the second week and the fourth week with Visual Analogue Scale. Data were analyzed using descriptive and analytical tests by SPSS V. 16 software. According to the findings, also the Mean (SD) pre-intervention Pain score in experimental group A was 8.10(0.91), which decreased to 1.78(0.78) after the intervention and in the control group from 8.55(0.69) to 3.85(0.98). Due to the greater effect of olive oil compared to Diclofenac gel on reducing pain of patients with KOA, it is recommended that patients use olive oil. Further studies are also recommended.

Renal anemia is one of the most common complications of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in cats, which significantly reduces their life quality. Most often, the mechanism of renal anemia development is associated with insufficiency of endogenous erythropoietin (EPO), or with a reduction in the life of red blood cells caused by uremic intoxication. Since anemia increases the severity of renal hypertension and other CKD symptoms, the search for effective drugs that can stimulate erythropoiesis in CKD and do not have nephrotoxic properties is particularly relevant. The aim of the work was to study the effectiveness of Gamavit in the treatment regimen for cats with CKD compared with the standard treatment protocol. Active ingredients of Gamavit are sodium nucleinate and denaturated placenta extract. The study included 20 cats of different breeds aged from 5 to 16 years with CKD stage III-IV according to the IRIS classification, accompanied by anemia and a decrease in hematocrit in the range from 25 to 16%. Patients were randomly divided into 2 equal groups - control (n=10) and experimental (n=10) using the block randomization method. In the control group a standard nephroprotective therapy regimen was used. In the experimental group Gamavit was added to the standard regimen. Gamavit was administered at a dose of 0.5 ml/kg 1 time per day, at the same time, during 14 consecutive days (7 days i/v and 7 days s/c). The conditions for feeding and keeping animals of the experimental and control groups were identical. For feeding, we used a standardized serial diet ― Purina CatChow Adult with chicken/turkey/salmon. Access to drinking water ― ad libitum. The initial number of red blood cells, as well as the hematocrit index and hemoglobin level in the experimental and control groups were at the lower limit of the norm or below the reference values. During the study, in the experimental group of the patients, these indicators returned to normal after 2 weeks, while in the control group there were no significant changes. The statistically significant difference between the experimental and control groups remained until the end of the observation (p=0.001). Levels of creatinine and urea in the blood serum of the patients of both groups consistently high throughout the study, but in the experimental group a significant decrease in these indicators was found. The initial level of EPO in both groups was significantly lower than in healthy cats. During the experiment, it was not possible to reach the lower limit of the normal value, which allows us to conclude that the stimulation of erythropoiesis indicators in the experimental group, observed under the influence of Gamavit, is not associated with the stimulation of endogenous EPO production. Thus, the study revealed that Gamavit stimulates erythropoiesis in cats with CKD stage III-IV, significantly increasing the number of red blood cells, and the levels of hematocrit and hemoglobin. This effect, combined with a decrease in uremic intoxication values (creatinine and urea levels), lead to an improvement in the general condition of patients and regression in a number of important clinical manifestations. Since no nephrotoxic effects and undesirable interactions with drugs of standard nephroprotective therapy were detected in the process of this study, Gamavit can be recommended for widespread use in cats as one of the pathogenetic, symptomatic, and therapeutic and prophylactic drugs in the complex therapy of CKD at the preclinical and clinical stages of the disease.

Objective. The study determined the safety, efficacy and acceptability of a Philippine community preparation of Siling Labuyo liniment in the management of knee osteoarthritis. Methods. A 6-week randomized, double-blind, active-controlled clinical trial was conducted in three municipalities of Cavite from 2017-2018. The municipalities were randomly assigned to either the control or experimental group, using a commercially available Diclofenac 1% gel as the control agent. Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) and Pain Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) were used to measure the outcomes. Results. Forty-seven participants completed the study. Statistically significant improvement (p<0.05) in pain relief, reduction of symptoms and increase in knee functionality was reported by participants in both the experimental and control groups. Across the dimensions measured, at least 30% improvement in scores was reported by the experimental group, and at least 40% by the control group. The difference was statistically not significant (p>0.05). Itching (13%), burning sensation (11%) and reddening of the skin (15%) were experienced in both the experimental and the active control groups. Conclusion. Use of the liniment led to a modest therapeutic effect and was well-tolerated by the participants.

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of differentiated instruction on students’ achievement in Plane Trigonometry. It tried to determine the pretest and posttest performance of experimental and control groups, the difference on scores of students in the pretest and in the posttest, and the difference from pretest to posttest scores in the two groups of students. The quasi-experimental design was used in the study. Two intact class of first year college students enrolled in Plane Trigonometry in School Year 2017-2018 were purposively sampled and used for the study. One class was randomly assigned to experimental group while the other served as the control group. Instructions were made using flexible groupings and varied formats (cooperative learning, individual or group projects, and whole-class discussion) with various strategies such as agenda, compacting, cubing, vocabulary choice boards, tier assignment, think-tac-toe, and RAFT activity. The students explored, collaborated, worked in pairs or groups in different activities. Data were tabulated and analyzed using frequency counts, percentages, and t-test for independent samples with the aid of the statistical package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software. The findings revealed that the experimental group and control groups showed significant improvement in students’ performance in plane trigonometry.  However, the score suggested that the improvement of the scores under the experimental group was defined and noticeable. Generally, the results revealed that students who were taught differentiated instruction performed better than those taught using the conventional instructional approach.

The study pertains to the parenting stress, which is believed to be the resultant of child disability and further assesses the needs of the families across selected pockets of Himachal Himalaya. Perceived Stress Questionnaire (PSQ) and Need Assessment Scale were used for the purpose. For assessing the stress level among the parents, PQS was administered among two hundred parents having disabled children, herein called experimental group and two hundred parents with normal children, herein called control group. A three point Need assessment scale was used to measure the needs of 200 families on five different parameters. The result of t-test shows the significant difference between experimental and control groups indicating that the parents of disabled children experience more stress than their control counterpart. The study indicates that people need proper guidance and information regarding a child’s disability, nutritional requirements of a child, vocational training and child management. There is a need for proper counselling for parents suffering from stress and creating consciousness among parents of children with disabilities and in the society.
