This study was aimed at investigating the effect of using an Elevation Training Mask (ETM) with the High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) Training Method on physiological abilities based on aerobic capacity. This research was an experimental study with a 2x2 factorial design. This study used aerobic and anaerobic physical component test instruments. This study involved 20 female futsal players as participants. Data analysis used statistical calculations with the help of the SPSS application. The results of the study showed that there was no increase in the physiological abilities of female futsal players based on the use of ETM. It indicated that there was an increase in the physiological ability of female futsal players based on aerobic abilities and there was no interaction between the use of ETM and aerobic capacity in increasing the physiological abilities of female futsal players. This study also concluded that female futsal players with high aerobic capacity were more effective than female futsal players with low aerobic capacity using the HIIT training method, both with high aerobic capacity using ETM and not using ETM compared to low aerobic capacity using ETM or without ETM. Apart from that, there was no interaction found. The implication of the research result shows that, in physical training, the training method must be adjusted to the aerobic capacity of the player by paying more attention to the principles of the training and specificity. Besides that, it is necessary to carry out further research using ETM to see the effect in lung capacity, so that it would be more comprehensive.

The purpose of this study was to determine the development of physiological aspects of increasing aerobic and anaerobic performance in students who become badminton athletes through optimizing footwork exercises using the high-intensity interval method (HITT). This research will provide a solution for trainers in combining and optimizing footwork exercises as a technique in badminton combined with the principles of interval training to increase badminton athletes' aerobic and anaerobic capacity. This study used an experimental approach by giving footwork training treatment (HITT) to 30 Padang State University students who became badminton athletes. Researchers saw the effect of the exercise given on aerobic capacity (VO2max) and anaerobic capacity. The statistical analysis results showed that footwork exercise with The HIIT (High High-Intensity Interval Training) method positively affects badminton athletes' maximal aerobic capacity (VO2max) anaerobic capacity. In this concept, footwork training using the HIIT method effectively develops aerobic and anaerobic metabolism in response to energy requirements during total energy production in training maximum.

AbstractChronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is the most common leukemia in the USA, affecting predominantly older adults. CLL is characterized by low physical fitness, reduced immunity, and increased risk of secondary malignancies and infections. One approach to improving CLL patients’ physical fitness and immune functions may be participation in a structured exercise program. The aims of this pilot study were to examine physical and immunological changes, and feasibility of a 12-week high-intensity interval training (HIIT) combined with muscle endurance-based resistance training on older adults with treatment naïve CLL. We enrolled eighteen participants with CLL aged 64.9 ± 9.1 years and assigned them to groups depending on distance lived from our fitness center. Ten participants (4 M/6F) completed HIIT and six participants (4 M/2F) completed a non-exercising control group (Controls). HIIT consisted of three 30-min treadmill sessions/week plus two concurrent 30-min strength training sessions/week. Physical and immunological outcomes included aerobic capacity, muscle strength and endurance, and natural killer (NK) cell recognition and killing of tumor cells. We confirmed feasibility if > 70% of HIIT participants completed > 75% of prescribed sessions and prescribed minutes, and if > 80% of high-intensity intervals were at a heart rate corresponding to at least 80% of peak aerobic capacity (VO2peak). Results are presented as Hedge’s G effect sizes (g), with 0.2, 0.5 and 0.8 representing small, medium and large effects, respectively. Following HIIT, leg strength (g = 2.52), chest strength (g = 1.15) and seated row strength (g = 3.07) were 35.4%, 56.1% and 39.5% higher than Controls, respectively, while aerobic capacity was 3.8% lower (g = 0.49) than Controls. Similarly, following HIIT, in vitro NK-cell cytolytic activity against the K562 cell line (g = 1.43), OSU-CLL cell line (g = 0.95), and autologous B-cells (g = 1.30) were 20.3%, 3.0% and 14.6% higher than Controls, respectively. Feasibility was achieved, with HIIT completing 5.0 ± 0.2 sessions/week and 99 ± 3.6% of the prescribed minutes/week at heart rates corresponding to 89 ± 2.8% of VO2peak. We demonstrate that 12-weeks of supervised HIIT combined with muscle endurance-based resistance training is feasible, and that high adherence and compliance are associated with large effects on muscle strength and immune function in older adults with treatment naïve CLL.Trial registration: NCT04950452.

Although moderate-intensity continuous training (MICT) has been the traditional model for aerobic exercise training for over four decades, a growing body of literature has demonstrated equal if not greater improvement in aerobic capacity and similar beneficial effects on body composition, glucose metabolism, blood pressure, and quality of life from high-intensity interval training (HIIT). An advantage of HIIT over MICT is the shorter time required to perform the same amount of energy expenditure. The current brief review summarizes the effects of HIIT on peak aerobic capacity and cardiovascular risk factors in healthy adults and those with various cardiovascular diseases, including coronary artery disease, chronic heart failure, and post heart transplantation.

ObjectivesThis study aims to to determine the effect of exercise footwork HIIT with a method to increase in VO2 max in badminton athletes.MethodsThis study used an experimental approach to see the effect of footwork practice with HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) method of VO2Max. Population of this research is athletes badminton UNP which amounted to 38 people and technique of sampling by using purposive sampling that is eligible athlete son amounted 35 people. Data collection in this study used fitness test (bleep test) to measure Vo2Max.ResultsThe results of this study indicate that there is influence of Footwork training with HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) method to increase Vo2max in badminton athletesConclusionsFootwork as one aspect of the techniques in badminton game if manipulated in such a way by using the principles of interval training, especially HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) can increase VO2max in badminton athletes.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of two-week high intensity interval training (HIIT) on aerobic and anaerobic performance of kick boxers. Material: 24 male kick boxers (age 19.39 ± 0.72 y, body mass 74.14 ± 6.22 kg, height 177.95 ± 5.29 cm) volunteered for the study. Participants were randomly divided into two groups: experimental and control. As well as routine training program, experimental group carried out Wingate-based HIIT 3 times per week for two weeks. Wingate protocol was as follow: 4 repetitions with 4 mins recovery (4X30sn all-out effort) during the first week, 5 repetitions with 4 mins recovery (5X30sn all-out effort) during the second week. In order to determine aerobic capacity, 20m shuttle run test was used while Wingate anaerobic test was used to determine anaerobic performance. Descriptive statistic was used to demonstrate mean values and standard deviation of the variables. Non-parametric Mann Whitney-U test was used to show the differences between groups. Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test was used to compare intra-groups results from pre and post-test applications. Results: There was no significant difference between groups during pre-test measurements There was significant difference in PP, MP in experimental group compared to control during the post-test measurements. There was no difference in body mass, body fat (%) and predicted VO2max in both groups between measurements. Conclusions: According to intra and inter-group results, it can be concluded that two-week Wingate-based HIIT can be used to improve aerobic and anaerobic performances of kick boxers.

Treatment naïve patients (CLLtn) with low physical fitness have poor survival following commencement of treatment. CLLtn is characterized by inadequate immune functions, increased risk of secondary malignancies and infections. The aims of this study were to determine the feasibility and preliminary effects of 12-weeks of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) on CLLtn patients. We enrolled eighteen CLLtn patients (64.9±9.1yrs.). Eleven (5M/6F) were allocated to HIIT and seven (4M/3F) to the control group (CON). HIIT consisted of three 30-minute treadmill sessions/week plus two 30-minute strength training sessions/week. Feasibility was confirmed if >70% of HIIT participants completed >75% of prescribed sessions and prescribed minutes, and if >80% of high-intensity intervals were at a heart rate corresponding to 80% of aerobic capacity (139±19 bpm). Results are presented as mean±SD and effect sizes (d), with 0.2, 0.5 and 0.8 representing small, medium and large effect sizes, respectively. Feasibility was achieved, with HIIT completing 5.0±0.2 sessions/week and 99±3.6% of prescribed minutes/week at 142±19 bpm. No adverse safety events were observed. Compared to CON, HIIT increased leg (d=2.602), chest (d=1.285), and seated row (d=3.323) strength, while aerobic capacity difference between groups was d=0.431. Compared to CON, HIIT increased in vitro natural killer immune cell cytolytic activity against K562 (d=1.586) and OSU-CLL (d=0.917) cancer cell lines, and autologous CLL cells (d=1.362). HIIT is safe and feasible in older adults with CLLtn. Preliminary effects suggest that HIIT increases muscle strength and important components of immune function.
