Human concern on the environment is unfortunately seen decreasing, which has resulted in negative environmental damages caused by human actions. To address this issue, this research seeks to see the influence of environment-based teaching materials in social studies learning to improve the eco-literacy of students of primary school teacher education (PGSD, Pendidikan Guru Sekolah Dasar) study program. This research involved third semester 60 PGSD students of a private university in Bandung Regency, Indonesia. Therefore, this research investigated the differences of environment-based learning materials and conventional learning in improving the eco-literacy of PGSD students. This research used a quasi-experimental method with nonrandomized pretest-posttest control group design and used quantitative observation instruments in the form of checklists to obtain the data. The results revealed that by using environment-based learning resources, the social studies learning could improve the eco-literacy of PGSD students, and was considered better than implementing conventional learning.

This study aims to analyze the students' needs for teaching materials in the basic concepts of social studies at STKIP Muhammadiyah Blora. Social studies basic concept courses are subjects that must be implemented by first semester students of the PGSD STKIP Muhammadiyah Blora Study Program. Currently the teaching materials used are simple teaching materials made by lecturers without paying attention to student needs. This study uses descriptive qualitative data analysis, namely analyzing the results of observations, interviews and user questionnaires about the basic concepts of social studies teaching material needs. The research was conducted at the PGSD STKIP Muhammadiyah Blora Study Program. The subjects of this study were the first semester students with a total of 47 students, Primary School Teacher Education Study Program, Basic Concept of Social Sciences courses. The results of data collection indicate that the teaching materials that need to be developed in the Basic Concepts of Social Studies course for PGSD students are textbooks in the form of modules. The development of teaching materials is based on the needs of students, namely on aspects of content / material, aspects of the feasibility of presenting teaching materials, and aspects of language feasibility.

This study aims to explore the effectiveness of cognitive reading strategies in primary school teacher training curriculum. Designed under the paradigm of a quasi-experimental research with the participation of an experimental and a control group, the current study seeks to investigate the impact of cognitive strategies training on students’ reading comprehension. Findings from the study showed that cognitive strategies training incorporated into a primary school teacher training course could improve pre-service teachers’ reading performance. It is concluded that students need more time and practice so that they can use their new strategies automatically at the procedural stage.

Abstract. Blended learning is a learning model that lecturers can apply to optimize the learning outcomes. This study, entitled "The Effectiveness of Blended Learning to Increase Student Motivation" aims to determine the extent of the effectiveness of Blended Learning in increasing the learning motivation on the first semester students of the English Literature Study Program at Khairun University. This research was carried out at the English Literature Study Program a quasi-experimental study designed on using the non-equivalent control group design. A total of 50 on the first semester students were sampled in this study. The sample was divided into 2 classes, experimental class used blended learning and the control class used face-to-face learning, each consisted of 25 students. The learning motivation questionnaire was used as the instrument in collecting the data related to students learning motivation. The results showed that there were significant differences between students learning motivation in the experimental class and students in the control class after had been given different treatments. The researcher also found that the application of Blended Learning was effective in increasing the learning motivation of the first semester students of English Literature Study Program at Khairun University.

The results of a survey of the world body in the fields of writing, mathematics, and science as a measure of literacy progress, the results show the ability of high-level thinking or High Order of Thinking Skills (HOTS) students in Indonesia is low and is ranked 69 out of 76 countries. The results are a reflection of the renewal of the learning system in LPTK, including students in the Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD) study program. This research is a descriptive study because it describes the ability of PGSD students in planning and implementing HOTS-based learning in elementary schools. Respondents 154 people. The results showed the ability in basic knowledge of HOTS learning was still low, only 52.24% had passed. The remaining 47.76% did not meet the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM). The aspects of planning HOTS learning are still low, only 59.58% of students meet the KKM. Aspects of the ability to carry out HOTS-based learning, 49.03% of students do not meet the KKM. In the aspect of designing and implementing HOTS-based assessment, 51.30% did not reach the KKM. Conclusions of the study, the majority of students have not demonstrated good skills in planning and implementing HOTS learning in elementary schools.

Reading is useful for gaining understanding, knowledge, and information. This study aimed to determine the effect of using photo comics media on reading interest and learning outcomes in elementary social studies subjects. This research is a quasi-experimental study with a Non-equivalent Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The subject of this study is elementary students at the fifth grade level. Data obtained through the implementation of direct learning to school by assessment using questionnaires and tests. Analysis of the data using the t-test. The results showed that the use of photo comics media has a significant positive effect on reading interest and student learning outcomes. This was evidenced after a positive change in asking students to read after being treated with photo comics media. In addition, student learning outcomes are satisfactory after integrating photo comic media in learning activities.           Keywords: learning outcomes, photo comics, reading interest, social studies;

Student self-management in learning is a form of skill possessed of how individuals can manage and organize themselves and study time well so that the main activities or tasks that are prioritized can be realized and achieve maximum and effective goal results. The purpose of this research is to test the effectiveness of tutoring in problem-solving techniques to improve self-management in student learning. In this study using a quasi-experimental method with nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design. As for the research, sample is the third-semester students of the guidance and counseling study program of STKIP Muhamamdiyah Pringsewu Lampung as many as 22 students. And the results of this study indicate that the tutoring of problem-solving techniques proved effective for improving self-management in student learning.Keywords: guidance learning, Problem Solving, Self Management in Learning

This study aims to examine the effect of mind mapping learning methods on social studies materials comprehension of students at Baleendah 2nd Junior High School. This study used a quasi-experimental method with the design of "nonequivalent control group design" with the pattern of "pretest" and "posttest" and carried out treatments in class VIII-F as the experimental class group and VIII-H as the control group used as a comparison. Sampling uses a purposive sampling technique. Data collection on the social studies material comprehension of students use questions as the main data. After the data is collected, the analysis is carried out quantitatively through hypothesis testing or T-Test. The results of the difference between "pretest" and "posttest" in the experimental class given treatment showed a significant difference in improvement, while the control class between "pretest" and "posttest" which were not given treatment the results were no difference or no improvement. It can be said that there are influences from mind mapping learning methods to on social studies materials comprehension of students.Keywords: comprehension of material, Mind Mapping Learning Method, Social Studies Learning

The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in the higher-order thinking skills of PGSD students by using an open-ended approach. The study is a quasi-experimental research with a non-equivalent control group design conducted in the PGSD UNP department. The results of this study stated that there were differences in the average N-Gain of HOTS PGSD students in the basic social studies concept students who learned using the open-ended approach with students who learned to use the conventional approach. This research proves that there is a significant increase in students learning to use the open-ended approach with students learning to use the conventional approach. The implications of this study can be used as an effort to improve student HOTS.
