Nowadays the area of cities is almost everywhere increasing - the territory urbanization is developing. At the same time, due to lack of land resources, the underground space development intensifi es, and the underground construction volume increases, i.e., underground urbanization takes place. This process has undoubtedly positive results, as it can help solve territorial, transport, environmental and other problems of cities while preserving the unique appearance of buildings in the historical centers of cities. At the same time, some engineering and geological processes may be activated as a negative underground urbanization result. The article deals with underground urbanization history in Samara and defi nes its main stages. More than one million people live in Samara city, subway line was built, there are subway objects of industrial and defense importance (bunkers) reaching considerable depth. Active underground construction can lead to geological processes strengthening (weathering, karst formation, suff osia, etc.), change of strength properties of rocks, violation of natural hydrological regime of the territory. The territory of Samara has an inhomogeneous geological structure and complex engineering and geological construction conditions. Seven engineering-geological districts have been identifi ed and studied, on the territory where underground construction development can lead to diff erent, including negative, consequences.

On the basis of engineering and design surveys of the building, engineering-geological and geophysical studies of the soils of the territory conducted by the article authors, as well as with due regard for the results of studies conducted on this territory by other authors, the features of the foundations, soils of their foundation and engineering-geological conditions of the territory of the Melnikov House are established. It is shown that the Melnikov house is located under complex engineering-geological conditions on the territory of high geological risk, in the zone of influence of tectonic disturbance. To the North of the area there is a zone of intersection of the observed disturbance with a larger disturbance that can have an impact on geological processes. To the North-East of the site of the Melnikov House, a sharp immersion of the roof of carbon deposits was revealed. It promotes groundwater seepage into limestone of the carbonate strata from overlying water-bearing sands and activation of processes of suffusion removal and sinkhole phenomena of the soil. The surveyed area is assessed as potentially karst-hazardous and adjacent to it from the North-East territory as karst-dangerous. In this regard any construction on the adjacent territory can provoke activation of sinkhole phenomena on the surface. The foundations of the building are basically in working condition. Existing defects can be eliminated during repair. The foundation soils mainly have sufficient bearing capacity. Areas of the base with bulk soil can be reinforced. However, when developing a project for the reconstruction of the building and its territory, it should be taken into account that the design of the Melnikov House does not provide for its operation on the loads at the formation of sinkholes.

A method to optimize drilling and blasting parameters with account of the physical and technical properties of rocks within the blasted block is proposed to improve the quality of blasting in open pit mines characterized by complex geological settings. The results of laboratory tests are provided that confirm improvement in the quality of rock sample crushing by blasting charges with variable delays and locations, depending on the strength properties of the samples, relative to blasting charges with unchanged parameters. The proposed method can be used in combination with GPR surveys of the rock mass. Explosive fragmentation of the rock masses with complex structures is characterized with a number of features caused by changes in the strength properties within the blasted block. In order to optimize the fragmentation efficiency of rock masses with complex geological structure, it is required to assess physical and technical properties of rocks and to determine their location and variations of the strength properties within the blasted block. It is possible to quickly assess the physical and technical properties of the blasted rocks using the surface georadar method. The outcome of this method is georeferencing of the reoradar data to the location and properties of the rocks to be blasted, along with the methodology of applying the georadar surveys, selection of the areal assembly type depending on the size and properties of detected jointing, and economic justification of applying this method. The novelty consists in linking the georadar data on the rocks to be blasted with drilling and blasting parameters.

The article presents the concept of petroleum systems modeling in the area with complex fold-thrust belt structure. The aim of the study was to verify the views on the influence of the overtrusting Carpathian orogen on the course of petroleum processes in the basement (Meso-Palaeozoic) formations. The project was implemented in the marginal zone of the Skole Unit (Outer Carpathians) overlapping various structural and tectonic units of the basement. The area of Rzeszów city was selected as it presents adequate complexity of the geological structure to meet assumed methodological objectives of the project and, at the same time, provides relatively vast amount of geological data available which creates a conditions for a comprehensive approach. The study was carried out using the Dynel 2D and PetroMod 2D software. The course of the structural and tectonic evolution of the area was reconstructed in 5 stages, the results of which were subsequently applied in a dynamic modeling of the petroleum systems. The modeling results made it possible to recreate and analyze the course of a complex geological processes, the effects of which are manifested, among others, by the time and amounts of generated hydrocarbons as well as the dynamics of expulsion, migration and accumulation processes. The results show the course of petroleum processes in each stage of the petroleum basin evolution, revealing a special role of thrust tectonic of Outer Carpathians on basement formations. For the adopted assumptions of the structural and tectonic evolution, the generation of hydrocarbons by Lower Palaeozoic source rocks was initiated with the overthrusting of the Carpathians. This increases the chances of their accumulation in reservoir intervals sealed by an overthrusting orogen. This is a positive premise in the context of petroleum exploration in the area.

This paper discusses the current state of the avifauna on the territory of the Krasnoyarsk Reservoir. To date, the species composition of birds in the study area has not been studied, although it is worth noting the need to study the distribution of birds in this area. The construction of the Krasnoyarsk hydroelectric power station led to changes in the hydrological regime of the Yenisei River with subsequent flooding of the surrounding territory, as a result of which various geological processes of collapse of the Krasnoyarsk Reservoir banks are observed. Bank metamorphoses can also influence the spatial distribution of birds and creation of new ornithocomplexes. Our ecological and faunal analysis was carried out over two years (20182019) at nine key points along the bank lines of the Krasnoyarsk Reservoir within a radius of one kilometer from the water to identify the impact of geological changes in the banks on the nature of bird placement. The key areas of the study were determined, taking into account various biotopic habitat conditions that attract birds. Monitoring of avifauna on the territory of the Krasnoyarsk Reservoir will allow us to assess the degree of influence of changes in the geological processes of the banks on the spatial and biotopic distribution of birds, and it is also possible to forecast the disappearance or movement of some species and subspecies on this territory.

The purpose of this study is to determine the geological and geographical features of the transformation of resin secretions of conifers during the transition from living matter to inanimate (mineral) in the process of several stages of fossilization; formation of succinite-amber placers, as well as substantiation of prognosis assessment of prospects for discovery of new deposits and amber manifestations in the context of their ecologically safe and ecologically expedient extraction. The natural-geographical paleocomplexes of the south-eastern part of the Baltic-Dnieper amber-bearing province in the Eocene-Oligocene are characterized, which caused the accumulation of primary biogenic-sedimentary deposits of resin secretions (proto-amber) and conditions of formation of weeds of different ages. These placers are divided by genesis into indigenous, coastal, marine and estuarine delta and delta of the first intermediate reservoirs, formed in the post-Buchach period - late Middle - Late Eocene and early Oligocene and continental polygenetic placers due to in the late Oligocene, Neogene and Anthropogenic. It has been established that the root source of succinite amber in Ukraine was biogenic sedimentary deposits of resin secretions of vegetation characteristic of the central part of modern Ukraine, while in foreign literature it is believed that the main source of Ukrainian amber is its transfer from Scandinavia by coastal banks or river streams and glaciers from the Baltics. The substantiation of the prognosis of new industrial deposits of amber-succinite discovery in Ukraine is stated. Attention is paid to the problem of development of valuable gem deposits - illegal amber mining, the negative consequences of which are considered as manifestations of natural geological processes.

Karst manifestations are widespread in many regions and pose a significant danger to residence and economic activity. Failing funnels arise during the collapse of rocks over underground voids (caves, workings, etc.), formed during karst formation or in the process of anthropogenic doing in the rock massive. However, not every karst or technogenic cavity gives rise to a failure of the earth’s surface, and as a rule, its occurrence is unexpected. In this work, we consider the dynamics of the formation of dips of the earth’s surface in the form of a collapse pipe. To do this, the geomechanical problem is solved by the meshless code Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH). The method allows to obtain a solution to the problem taking into account large deformations and possible discontinuities in the process of changing the stress-strain state. The Drucker-Prager fracture criterion is used, the parameters of which change over time in accordance with the accumulation of damage, which determines the temporary development of the fracture process, its beginning and speed. Various options for the formation of a vertical dip are considered depending on the geometrical parameters of the initial cavity, its depth and materials composing the rock mass, as well as the features of the destruction of various materials composing the mass during the formation of the dip. Relations are obtained that relate the depth of the cavity, the horizontal size of the hole, the strength properties of the rocks (adhesion, angle of internal friction), the coefficient of lateral pressure in the array. The features of wave processes generated by the formation of a dip are considered, for which a velocity field is obtained near the fracture zone at various time points in the fracture process.

Relevance. The problem of studying karst-suffusion processes is that soluble rocks in Russia occupy large areas. The Belgorod region is rich in Cretaceous deposits, which are widespread throughout the territory. Due to the fact that carbonate rocks are susceptible to dissolution by surface and groundwater leads to the formation of karst forms. Such forms open and form places of karst waters’ accumulation, open fissure and cave systems and are becoming areas with an increased environmental hazard to the life of people, infrastructure, civil and industrial buildings. Dangerous exogenous geomorphological processes negatively affect the economic development of the region. The purpose of the article is to study the factors influencing the development and distribution of karst and suffusion processes, the reasons for their occurrence, as well as the impact on the environment. Among hazardous exogenous geological processes, karst-suffusion processes are the most unpredictable. Their occurrence has negative consequences for the economics and economic activities of the region. The main methods used in this study are observation method, laboratory experiment and mathematical modeling. The method of mathematical modeling has relatively recently come into the use by the researchers and allows for a better reproduction of processes on physical models. This study is aimed at determining the interaction of karst and suffusion processes, as well as assessing their impact on the environment. The zoning of the karst and suffusion distribution on the territory of the Belgorod region has made it possible to identify the causes of these processes. To prevent the development and spread of karst-suffusion processes, an integrated approach to the analysis of manifestation, drawing up a forecast plan and measures to counter negative consequences is required. Based on the results of the study, measures were proposed to minimize damage to agricultural land, residential and farm buildings, as well as measures to combat karst and suffusion processes. It should be noted that the results of the study and the developed measures to prevent the negative consequences of karst and suffusion processes can be used in human agricultural activities, construction of civil and industrial enterprises, their reconstruction, laying of communications and development of carbonate new deposits

Abstract The paper provides an assessment of the projected low-pressure hydroelectric facility operation on the Volga River from the point of view of navigation conditions in its lower reach. The operating mode of the low-pressure hydroelectric facility completely depends on the hourly discharges of the Nizhny Novgorod HPP, located upstream. Significant unevenness in time of the supplied discharges from the Nizhny Novgorod HPP, which, repeating itself when discharging flows into the lower reach of the Nizhniy Novgorod low-pressure hydroelectric facility, can lead to negative consequences for shipping in terms of failure to provide transport passes and necessary depths. It is proposed to reduce the unevenness of discharges by introducing diurnal flow regulation into the low-pressure hydroelectric facility operation, aimed at changing the hydrological regime of the river section to improve the conditions and organize uninterrupted and safe navigation in the lower reach. Achievement of the regulation goal associated with minimization of interval deviations of the supplied flow rates from Nizhny Novgorod HPP from the daily average values and the fulfillment of the restrictions on the hydrological regime of the low-pressure hydroelectric facility ponds, is achieved by two control options (three-stage and two-stage). The study used the methods of mathematical statistics and probability theory, optimization of management decisions. The methodology of the mathematical model limitations’ nonfulfillment elimination for solving the problem and optimization of the low-pressure hydroelectric facility daily hydrograph is presented. Using a specific example, the problem of diurnal regulation of discharges is solved and the obtained effect is described.

This publication analyzes the features of the hydrological regime and channel processes of the Iltsya River, based on regular observations and during the expedition trip in June 2019.The schemes of basin distribution and geomorphological zoning of the studied object, curves of connection of water consumption and levels Q = f (H), graphs of the course of maximum, average and minimum water levels, and also cross sections on key sites are presented in the work. Conditions of channel formation of natural watercourses are a complex and multilateral process which is closely connected with natural features of the territory of their basin. The main factors of the natural channel process are the geological structure of the area, sediment flow and grain size. These factors are key, however, the processes of channel formation are also influenced by additional factors that are temporary or local in nature. At the same time, we should not forget about the influence of the anthropogenic factor, the results of which for the basins of small rivers can sometimes even dominate for some time over the main ones mentioned above. All these factors not only affect the channel process, but also difficult to interact with each other. The geological structure, including the lithology of rocks, as well as the relief of the territory, have a direct impact on the shape of the valley, the longitudinal profile, the composition of channel-forming sediments, and hence the stability of the channel. Water runoff is the main active factor that depends on the hydrological regime of the river and determines its water content and size. The nature of the sediments and their regime is a factor that determines the rate and direction of vertical and horizontal deformations of the channel. The object of our study - is the river Iltsya, a small left tributary of the ChornyyCheremosh, which is characterized by specific geological conditions, and therefore significantly different from other small rivers in the region, including neighboring tributaries of the main river (ChornyyCheremosh). The second feature of the studied river is that the lower part of its basin is located within the Vorokhta-Putilsky ancient terraced lowlands, while the sources are formed within the Pokutsko-Bukovynian Carpathians, which in turn determines a certain specificity in the formation of its channel. This geological and geomorphological feature of the Iltsya river basin distinguishes it among numerous similar small rivers of this region of the Ukrainian Carpathians. Summarizing all the above, we have made some conclusions, the basin of the river Iltsya is currently little studied, both in terms of hydrological regime, channel processes and geomorphological studies, although in fact it is quite interesting and not typical of project, which raises many questions that require more detailed study. The presence of a long series of observations, allows us to identify general tendencies to the gradual incision of the channel in the area of the hydropost, although with little intensity. Visual inspection showed more manifestations of horizontal transformations associated with the movement of alluvial ridges and erosion of the shores. The greatest feature of the Iltsya river basin is the polymorphic formation of its channel system, because within the Vorokhta-Putil lowlands the river Iltsya and VelykyiRosysh occupy a wide valley of the ancient pliocene river, and this nuance has the greatest influence on the nature of riverbeds within its limits.
