Accounting subjects in a matriculation college focused on knowledge and practical skills, with less attention to the elements of soft skills. Hence, the purpose of this study was to assess the level of soft skills among accounting students attending Perlis Matriculation College. A total of 250 students in the first semester, comprising 80 male and 170 female students took part in the study, which was based on assessments using individual and group assignments. Students used the Mr. Accounting software for individual assignments and case studies during group assignments. The study was carried out throughout a semester, which was 16 weeks. A soft skills assessment tool was adapted from the Integrated Cumulative Grade Average Grade (iCGPA), which was used by lecturers in the college to assess the competencies of the students. The soft skills were evaluated through observations during the assignments by the lecturers using the soft skills rubrics, which had 38 items that represented six learning outcomes based on the Malaysian Qualifications Framework. The data collected were analysed descriptively. The findings showed that the overall elements of the learning outcomes had a high mean score, which suggested that students practised these sets of soft skills in the learning process. The domain with the highest score was on social responsibilities, while critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Mentorship has been shown to enhance engagement, participation, and understanding of the workplace through the development of soft-skills and leadership capacity. This research identifies and describes the social representations of second and third year Baccalaureate accounting students relating to their experiences in mentoring first year accounting students. We used an exploratory research method based on a qualitative analysis of 34 semi-structured interviews. Our research intends to answer these question: To what extent is a mandatory Student Peer Mentorship Project useful for second and third year Baccalaureate accounting students in developing their interpersonal and communication skills and leadership capacity?; and How can this experience be transferable to the workplace? The main results show that the mentoring experience has provided Baccalaureate students’ with the opportunity to develop their soft-skills, both interpersonal and communication skills, and has improved their leadership capacity. They took diverse actions to motivate their mentees to succeed, drawing on their own past experience of the school, program, courses, and their professors. They provided mentees with information on what to expect in the first semester in their courses as well as where, how, and when to study. These students mentioned that their intrinsic motivation, their personal satisfaction, and their leadership capacity had increased by helping and supporting their mentees. Also, they felt that they improved their communication skills through the ability to provide information and meet and support new accounting students. Finally, their experience seems as valuable for them as for their mentees and is transferable to the workplace.

Abstract. The purpose of this study was to determine whether using the TPS learning model by using LKS can improve student learning outcomes in the material system linear equation two variable in class X Senior High Public School 2 of Pematangsiantar. The type of research used is classroom action research with 2 cycles. Subjects of class X-IPA 7. On the implementation of the first cycle of action, the result of the analysis of tests of students at the moderate (≥ 65) category in a classical manner were still not achived because only 52.78% of students were completed, with a grade average 65.00. After the implementation of the second cycle of action, the learning outcomes of students in the medium minimum category (≥ 65) have been achived classically, namely 86.11% with an average value 73.75. The increase in students’ mathematics learning outcomes from cycle I to cycle II was 21.11%. Based on the result of the above research it can be concluded that the application of the TPS learning model using LKS can improve student learning outcomes. Keywords: Laerning Outcomes, Think Pair Square (TPS), LKS

To create an attractive learning atmosphere, a teacher needs an approach that is a discovery learning model in the learning process. The purpose of this study was to improve learning understanding and learning outcomes of Inpres Tompudau students in natural science learning material vegetative propagation of plants through the application of discovery learning models. The research method used is classroom action research consisting of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting through two cycles. Data collection techniques, namely observation, tests, and documentation. The data analysis technique uses qualitative and quantitative data techniques with indicators of success seen from an increase in the minimum completeness criteria (KKM) for science subjects for Grade VI students of SDN Inpres Tompudau Semester 1 of the 2019/2020 academic year. Students can be said to be completing individually in learning if they meet the specified KKM value standards if the specified KKM standard is 65 and the student exceeds that value then it can be ascertained that the student is complete, and classically 85% of the total is declared complete learning and 85% of the number stated an increase in understanding of learning. The results showed that the use of discovery learning models could improve the understanding and learning outcomes of Grade VI students of SDN Inpres Tompudau regarding the vegetative propagation of plants in the first semester of the 2019/2020 academic year.
