Purpose of work orders to study the readiness of the Medical University graduates for work, a survey of 90 students of the dental and pediatric faculties of Smolensk State Medical University was conducted.Material and methods. Characteristics common to graduates were revealed: lack of confidence in the beginning of work, difficulties in communicating with patients, colleagues, employers, desire to work in budget medical organizations. The specifics of the faculty did not play a significant role in the choice of answers. Students in the pediatric faculty are more knowledgeable in continuing professional development, medical standards and clinical guidelines than dentistry students. Dentists are more practical in professional path choosing. For faculty of pediatrics graduates the last year of study escalates the problem of further professional choice, literally introducing young professionals into a stressful state who declare complete disappointment in choosing a profession.Results of the survey emphasize the need for vocational guidance, educational work with students of a medical university.Conclusion. Adaptation to work improving should be reflected in the content of work programs, activities to promote the employment of graduates, the possibility of obtaining legal advice at the university, the creation of a portal for posting resumes, and the widespread use of internships at workplaces.

The article is devoted to the questions related to the study of professional development of the university graduates and analysis of the features of professional self-identification, taking into account specifics of the profession being acquired. The study conducted among the graduates of universities in the city of Khabarovsk (future specialists in the socioeconomic professions) took place in the context of pandemic (COVID-19), during a period of increased public and state attention to representatives of such professions as the social work specialists, medical and pedagogical workers. The article illustrates empirical results describing the professional plans of respondents through the eyes of the graduates themselves in the next 5 years (graduates of the Far-Eastern state medical university, the Far-Eastern state university of physical culture). The obtained data actualize the need to pay special attention to the social programs of regional level aimed at consolidating and professional development of specialists in the helping professions.

AbstractContinuing Professional Development (CPD) is a key factor for effective implementation of Clinical Governance. The development of a quality system is, in fact, strictly related to the development of competencies of healthcare professionals. Lifelong learning has emerged as a new paradigm that underlines the need to maintain and continuously improve knowledge, competencies and attitudes in the changing scenario of healthcare systems. CPD accreditation is another fundamental issue and a variety of voluntary and compulsory approaches can be recognised at an international level. The experience of the University Hospital of Padova may be useful to demonstrate that CPD can be addressed to implement a Clinical Governance project.

Labor market almost daily updated with young professionals — university graduates, who get up to the first stage of his career. Young professionals or the university graduates make up a large part of the working population of Russia and occupy an important place in the reproduction and development of human resources and are major innovative potential. Transition to innovative development of Russia’s economy implies new requirements for the development of young people, and for the youth policy objectives. The main goal of the medium-and long-term national youth policy is to increase the human capital of young people and increase their competitiveness.The idea of the perfect young professional today is variously as employers and graduates.This article presents the results of Orenburg region employers research. Main research areas: staffing needs of employers and ways of addressing them, the general and specific requirements of employers to young professionals, evaluation of the young specialists level of training. Practical recommendations to improve the competitiveness of young professionals on the labor market and the development of partnerships with higher education institutions and employers in the region.

This article reports on the British Library funded research project 'The use of information networking for continuing professional development' in progress at the University of Brighton. The project aims to survey and review the current extent of, and promote interest in, the delivery of programmes of continuing professional development (CPD) for information professionals by means of computer networks, network-based course materials and computer conferencing. it will assess the degree of professional demand for programmes of this nature and evaluate the opportunities for, and barriers to, future development in this area with a particular emphasis on the support of European collaboration.

Thing. The article discusses the results of the emotional and aesthetic perception of art paintings by 80 students of three faculties of the Ural State Medical University. The correlation between the paintings of the Ural artists and the emotional status of students and their temperament is studied according to the classification of the psycho-emotional state of a person by color, individual characteristics according to the Eysenck technique and Susan Dellinger geometric test. An analysis of the results made it possible to substantiate the psychological characteristics of the personalities of the future generation of doctors. The goal is the analysis and assessment of color preference based on the type of temperament and personal qualities of students of the three faculties using the works of contemporary Ural artists. Methodology. The study was conducted at the Department of Therapeutic Dentistry and Propaedeutics of Dental Diseases of the Ural State Medical University, where in the fall semester of the 2019-2020 academic year a traditional annual exhibition of paintings by modern Ural artists was held. The study was divided into four stages: at the first - search-theoretical - a review and analysis of the literature on keywords was carried out on the resources PubMed, Medline, Cochrane, Elibrary, Cyberleninka; on the second - experimental search - the goal and objectives of the study are set, the criteria are identified; on the third - empirical - diagnostics of the emotional status of the questioned students was carried out according to the classification of the psychoemotional state of the personality according to color perception, testing using two Eysenck techniques, an additional psychogeometric test was conducted to determine the psychotype of the participants in the survey; on the fourth - taxation-based - a description and systematization of the materials obtained, their processing and analysis, text design of the article are carried out. Conclusions. The results of the study can be applied in educational work in the educational process of the university and supplemented by master classes of artists at exhibitions for students.

Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) has the vision to become a healthy, excellent, and prosperous international university in healthy, superior, and prosperous. To achieve its vision, the university has to develop human resources, including librarians as professionals in the field of libraries, documentation, and information. The efforts in developing the professionalism of librarians can be made by improving their competence. One of the concepts of developing library profession outlined by International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) is Continuing Professional Development (CPD). However, in general the implementation of CPD concept in library profession has not got much attention. The objective of the study is to find out the implementation of CPD concept in efforts to develop library profession at Semarang State University. Respondents consisted of 40 librarians, comprising those working at the main library (22 librarians) and at the departemental or faculty libraries. The study used quantitative method the result showed that (1) the librarians were not yet familiar with CPD concept; (2) UNNES Library has not implemented CPD concept in developing its professional librarians, (3) UNNES has not had a clear policy commitment in developing its professional librarians, (4) Continuous efforts have to be made in order to develop professional librarians at UNNES with the support of the university leaders.

PurposeEducation, training and continuing professional development are amongst the evidence-based initiatives for attracting and retaining rural and remote health professionals. With rapidly increasing access to and use of digital technology worldwide, there are new opportunities to leverage training and support for those who are working in rural and remote areas. In this paper we determine the key elements associated with the utility of digital technologies to provide education, training, professional learning and support for rural health workforce outside the University and tertiary sector.Design/methodology/approachA scoping review of peer-reviewed literature from Australia, Canada, US and New Zealand was conducted in four bibliographic databases – Medline complete, CINAHL, Academic Search complete and Education Complete. Relevant studies published between January 2010 and September 2020 were identified. The Levac et al. (2010) enhanced methodology of the Arksey and O'Malley (2005) framework was used to analyse the literature.FindingsThe literature suggests there is mounting evidence demonstrating the potential for online platforms to address the challenges of rural health professional practice and the tyranny of distance. After analysing 22 publications, seven main themes were found – Knowledge and skills (n = 13), access (n = 10), information technology (n = 7), translation of knowledge into practice (n = 6), empowerment and confidence (n = 5), engagement (n = 5) and the need for support (n = 5). Ongoing evaluation will be critical to explore new opportunities for digital technology to demonstrate enhanced capability and retention of rural health professionals.Originality/valueTo date there has been limited examination of research that addresses the value of digital platforms on continuing professional development, education and support for rural health professionals outside the university and tertiary training sectors.

Introduction. In the context of the instability of the labor market affected by the pandemic, the interest of the state and society to the problem of deregulation of labor relations is increasing. One of the most vulnerable social groups is young professionals who have just graduated from university and do not have significant experience of interacting with employers. The purpose of the article is to study the processes of precarization of youth employment by assessing and identifying the orientation of professional and educational trajectories of university graduates belonging to the precariat in the context of their failure or success. Materials and methods. The monitoring of university graduates employed in the Ural region and beyond in 2018-2021 is used. The empirical material includes survey data (5213 full-time bachelors and masters) and administrative data. Methods of classification and factor analysis (allocation of the principal components) are applied. Results. The classification of the precariat (34.3% in the graduation structure) is proposed, including freelancers (0.9%), IT specialists (6.9%) employed on a part-time basis (6.5%), foreign students (1.5%) continuing their studies from among the unemployed (7.0%), unemployed graduates (8.6%), graduates employed in outsourcing and a mixed type of the listed groups (2.9%). Three groups of factors determining the specifics of the formation of the precariat among young professionals were identified: external factors – (1) the rate in the behavior strategy for rapid integration in the labor market (the significance of the high salary factor = 0.683); (2) the development of a career trajectory (the significance of the factor of having subordinates = 0.784, significance of having a managerial position = 0.722); internal factors – (3) orientation to self-realization in professional activity, deepening of competencies (the significance of the factor of continuing training = 0.648). Secondary employment at the university helps graduates immediately after graduation to reduce the risk of unemployment, to achieve faster integration in the labor market (among employed precariates – 85% combined work and study at the university, among the unemployed the share was 63%), but it is not a differentiating factor in determining the principal components. The focus of higher education (in particular, IT specialties, mathematics and engineering) largely determines the financial success in the group of unstable employees. Conclusions. In the modern conditions of the labor market, the precariat cannot strictly be called an unsuccessful social group. The advantage of the unstable employed graduates is that they are able to adapt to the uncertainty of the labor market by choosing flexible forms of employment, sometimes even without losing in wages, career trajectory, enhancement of their competencies, constantly updating knowledge, skills, self-realization in professional activity.

Currently in Western Australia (WA) there is no requirement for dentists to participate in continuing professional development (CPD). The aim of this study was to determine the participation pattern of dentists in WA in CPD activities. Data was collated regarding registrants for courses conducted by the University Continuing Dental Education Committee. Information concerned number of courses attended by each dentist, location of work and year of graduation from university. Details of subject, length and type of courses conducted were also gathered. Most courses were half to one day in duration with many subjects covered. Between 10.1-24.4% of dentists registered in WA attended at least one course each year. Low numbers of recently graduated and older dentists attended courses. Similar percentages of metropolitan and rural dentists attended courses. Participation in CPD activities of dentists in WA was low. Half day or evening courses appear to be favoured by dentists.
