The early verifying of cerebral ’s gliomas progression is an actual problem. It was found that the level of mircroRNA-21 expression is a highly specific in a tumor’s evolutional process. That the aim of the study was the assessment with level of mircroRNA-21 expression in blood and saliva of patients with cerebral glioma progression and patients without it which were verified by PET using [ 11C] methionine. It was found that in majority of cases, the negative dynamics of cerebral neoplastic lesions coincided with an increase in metabolic changes in the residual glioma and highly correlated with the level of mircroRNA-21 expression. This allows us to consider a highly significant the level of mircroRNA-21 expression as a screening technique in monitoring the evolution of the tumor process and the effectiveness of the treatment.

MicroRNAs play critical roles in tumor progression. Our recent study has indicated that microRNA-7 (miR-7) impairs autophagy-derived pools of glucose to suppress the glycolysis in pancreatic cancer progression. However, the roles of miR-7 in clinical significance and chemoresistance of pancreatic cancer remain unexplored. The aim of this study was to assess the expression of miR-7 in patients with pancreatic cancer and to evaluate the possibility of its usage as a prognostic molecular biomarker. MicroRNA array-based quantification analysis of 372 miRNAs was compared in serum between pancreatic cancer and healthy individuals, gemcitabine-sensitive and gemcitabine-resistance patients. We identified miR-7 showed the potential predictive power for gemcitabine-sensitive patients with pancreatic cancer. Then, the results were validated in pancreatic tissue microarray and The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) dataset, demonstrating that lower miR-7 expression was correlated with more advanced tumor stages and worse prognosis in pancreatic cancer. The Cox proportional-hazards model analysis identified miR-7 to be an independent variable for prediction of the survival. Furthermore, the mechanistic exploration suggested the clinical significance of miR-7 involved its interference effect on autophagy and glycolysis in pancreatic cancer using pancreatic cancer tissue microarrays and TCGA data. Therefore, the results of the present study provide evidences that low microRNA-7 expression may contribute to tumor progression and poor prognosis in pancreatic cancer.

417 Background: Angiopoietin-like protein 2 (ANGPTL2) is a secreted protein belonging to the angiopoietin family. It has been reported to act as a causative mediator of chronic inflammation and metabolic abnormalities. ANGPTL2 increases inflammatory carcinogenesis in several cancers, and its expression in tumor cells is highly correlated with the frequency of tumor cell metastasis through increased tumor angiogenesis and tumor cell epithelial-to-mesenchymal transitions. However, to our own knowledge, clinical significance of serum ANGPTL2 in cancer patients remains unknown. The aim of this study was to quantify serum ANGPTL2 level using ELISA, and to evaluate its clinical and prognostic significance in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC). Methods: We quantified serum ANGPTL2 levels from 194 CRC patients and normal 48 controls (NC) by ELISA. Next, we investigated ANGPTL2 expression in matched CRC tissues (n=194) by immunohistochemistry (IHC) to identify the source of circulating ANGPTL2. The IHC score of ANGPTL2 was determined on the basis of both staining intensity and the percentage of positive cells. Results: Serum ANGPTL2 levels were significantly higher in CRC than in NC (p<0.01) and gradually increased according to TNM stage progression. Serum ANGPTL2 levels discriminated CRC from NC with high accuracy (AUC=0.837). High serum ANGPTL2 was significantly associated with larger tumor size (p=0.03), undifferentiated adenocarcinoma (p=0.03), advanced T stage (p<0.01), peritoneal metastasis (p<0.01). In addition, Kaplan–Meier curves revealed that high serum ANGPTL2 were significantly associated with poor disease free survival (p=0.01) and overall survival (p=0.03). Interestingly, ANGPTL2 levels in serum from CRC patients closely correlated with IHC scores of cytoplasmic ANGPTL2 expression in matched CRC tissues (r=0.14, p=0.03). Conclusions: Serum ANGPTL2, which might be derived from primary CRC tumor, has strong potential to serve as a noninvasive biomarker for CRC diagnosis and prognosis.

Abstract Objective To perform quantitative analysis on the efficacy of using relative cerebral blood flow (rCBF) in arterial spin labeling (ASL), relative cerebral blood volume (rCBV) in dynamic magnetic sensitivity contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging(DSC-MRI), and mean kurtosis (MK) in diffusion kurtosis imaging (DKI) to grade cerebral gliomas. Methods Literature regarding ASL, DSC-MRI, or DKI in cerebral glioma grading in both English and Chinese were searched from PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, CBM, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), and Wanfang Database as of April 2019. A Meta-Analysis was performed to evaluate the efficacy of ASL, DSC-MRI, and DKI in the grading of cerebral glioma. Result A total of 54 articles (11 in Chinese and 43 in English) were included. Three quantitative parameters in the grading of cerebral glioma, rCBF in ASL, rCBV in DSC-MRI,and MK in DKI had an overall sensitivity of 0.88[95%CI(0.83,0.92)], 92[95%CI(0.83,0.96)],0.88[95%CI(0.82,0.92)], and an overall specificity of 0.91[95%CI(0.84,0.94)],0.81[95%CI(0.73,0.88)], 0.86[95%CI(0.78,0.91)] respectively. The overall area under the ROC curve were 0.95[95%CI(0.93,0.97)], 0.91[95%CI(0.89,0.94)], 0.93[95%CI(0.91,0.95)] respectively. Conclusion Quantitative parameters rCBF, rCBV and MK have high diagnostic efficacy for preoperative grading of cerebral gliomas.

A rapid test for the salt tolerance of plants, based on health ratings of intact plants subjected to a brief salinity stress, is proposed. For sixteen Medicago species, it was shown that such health ratings taken in the glasshouse were highly correlated with field behaviour on a saline soil.
