Background: large-scale plans for the development of Russia's transport infrastructure, including the railroad, require revision and improvement of the modern tariff system; the latter is unthinkable without improving the existing theoretical approaches to pricing in freight rail transport. Aim: development of classification criteria for the evolution of theoretical approaches to pricing in freight rail transport in the XXearly XXI centuries on the basis of the most significant works on this topic; modelling the matching of the current stage of development of these theoretical approaches to modern scientific approaches of determining the economic category "price". Methods: comparative, analysis, synthesis, system approach. Results: we developed a chronological classification of theoretical approaches to pricing in freight rail transport in the XXearly XXI centuries. (with the identification of the correspondence of the stages of development of the theory to the periods of development of railway transport), a classification of the current stage of development of these approaches in the main directions of development, and the model of the matching of the elements of the classification of the current stage of development of these approaches to modern scientific approaches to determining the economic category "price". Conclusion: the developed classifications and the matching model can be used in the future to improve the existing theoretical approaches to pricing in freight rail transport, to develop fundamentally new similar approaches and methods of their application in pricing in practice.

The level of economic development depends on many factors, among which infrastructure, including railway transport, is the key one. Financing of infrastructure-related projects on the regional level encourages economic growth. However, different level of overall development of subject of the Russian Federation causes inequality in the level of transport infrastructure development and makes common approach to its financing inapplicable. The necessity appears to build a model of financing for transport-related infrastructure with the use of statistical data and mathematical approach with the account of regional market peculiarities. Due to selection of indicators affecting economic growth and building parametric factor model, classification of financing on subfederal level was carried out, which makes it applicable for states with federal structure.

Annotation. Introduction. The relevance of the study is conditioned to the significant influence of modern financial markets on the real economy and social development as a whole. Purpose. The purpose of the article is to generalize the theoretical provisions for determining the model of the financial market, highlighting the elements of the financial market infrastructure, analysis of the development of the domestic financial market. Results. We have done the characteristic of the current stage of the financial system’s and financial market’s development. Denotes the inhomogeneity of the existing theoretical approaches to the definition of a financial market and its structural classification, with emphasis on the importance of the institutional component. We have done the analysis of the different models (types) of the financial system and financial markets and the factors determining the use of these models in different countries. Background of selection of so-called mixed model of the financial system in Ukraine are systematized, when equal opportunities and rights, with no serious legislative restrictions and financial transactions are carried out banking and non-banking financial institutions. The current stage of development of the domestic financial market is characterized by a dominant share of universal banks, but the industry non-bank financial institutions has also received its development, which generally creates a competitive environment for all market participants. At the same time, certain non-bank credit institutions, recently appeared on the market and very dynamic, require special attention from the mega-regulator. Conclusions. In this regard, we have done the conclusion about the need to improve legislation in the field of financial markets and to ensure an acceptable level of control. Keywords: financial market; financial system; banking and non-banking financial institutions.

The competitiveness of an enterprise in comparison with other entities working with it in the same plane has a significant impact on the results of its activities, including profit. If we talk about railway transport, in the field of providing passenger transportation within the country, then road transport has become a close and fairly significant competitor of railway transport, because the availability of cars to an ordinary citizen, an extensive network of bus routes, competitive cost and speed of delivery of a passenger from point A to point B by road vehicles have significantly weakened the place of rail transport in the passenger transportation market. The following factors negatively influence the volume of passenger transportation by rail in Ukraine: ineffective reforms, their obsolescence and protraction, ineffective industry management system, outdated financial model and tariff setting system. Ensuring a stable, profitable operation of a transport organization by identifying and meeting the needs of passengers to the maximum is the main goal of marketing in the field of passenger transportation. The current tough market conditions for the implementation of financial and economic activities in the field of railway transportation require a change in the policy of using the labor potential of Ukrzaliznytsia in order to increase its financial potential. In the article, the authors, in order to increase the competitiveness of railway transport, note not only on a thorough and large-scale renovation and reconstruction of railway transport infrastructure and rolling stock (with the help of public and private funding), but also the need to determine the needs of the passenger, his hopes and expectations from railway travel (for this it is proposed to create an appropriate marketing service in the structure of the railways, conduct regular surveys of passengers, etc.). The authors consider an increase in the motivation for high-quality performance of official duties by railroad employees as one of the important areas of increasing the competitiveness of rail passenger transportation, because it is they who come into direct contact with passengers and significantly affect the general impression of the passenger from the trip.

The article analyzes the EU rail transport directives to be implemented in Ukraine after signing the Association Agreement between the EU and Ukraine, as well as the systematic positive and negative consequences and reservations of the implementation of the directives in the Ukrainian rail transport legislation. However, bringing of rail transport to the state declared in these directives requires significant investments including foreign ones. At the same time, the investment attractiveness of the railway industry is very low. The reason for this is the unsatisfactory state of the non-current assets, low quality of transportation, unprofitable passenger transportation which requires cross-subsidization, etc. Upgrade of the transport infrastructure should be carried out with the use of the latest energy efficient technologies. There is a need to change the management principles of the railway industry as a whole. Fulfilment of implementation conditions will trigger the attraction of investments and increase of the revenue part of the budget of Ukrzaliznytsia, which in turn will increase the competitiveness of the domestic railway.

As year 2021 was announced the year of rail transport, by the decision made by the EU Council and Parliament on 23rd December 2020, the authors of this article present the history of railway development in Europe and in Poland. The directions of changes in transport policy in the last years of previous century and the early years of this century were not positive for the development of railway. Thou, there is an opportunity for this branch of transport to experience a renaissance. In the article some trends of current changes are shown. A year to year increase in traffic congestions as well as the awareness to protect the natural environment cause that this branch of transport has good perspectives of development. The use of modern technology in rolling stock and in passenger transport infrastructure contribute to the increase of speed, reliability and comfort of travelling and what is more regaining the clients. To minimize the negative influence of transport on environment it is crucial to develop cargo transport. Keywords: Railway transport; Train; Railway development

The article presents an overview of modern steel used in rail transport. Directions for the development of materials, technologies and constructions used in the manufacture of rail vehicles are, on the one hand, determined by the technical and economic requirements of industry and, on the other, by the continued emphasis of environmentalists on reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. This generates innovation in the use of modern materials, processing methods and new design solutions and results in reduced vehicle weight. More bold forecasts today show that at the current pace of technology development, in the near future the mass of the vehicle will reduce by an average of 30%. Observing the trends and pace of rail transport development, it can be predicted that existing restrictions on the use of modern materials, such as high prices, technological conditions and difficult automation of large-scale production, can be predicted.

The high level of logistics development positively affects many socio-economic indicators of the country’s economic development, such as inflation rates, productivity indicators, etc. Increasing productivity through the use of logistics at enterprises has a positive impact on the competitiveness in global markets, as well as on profit level. The aim of this article is to analyze the evolution of productivity in rail transport among several countries from 1997 to 2016. We use a non-parametric approach that allows us to change the performance and efficiency of the transport infrastructure. The main indicators of rail transport should be divided into variations of efficiency and technical changes. The results indicate that productivity growth is concentrated in the last period (1997-2016), when most countries conducted reform processes. This increase in productivity occurred mainly due to technical progress. We also analyze the correlation analysis to determine the factors most influencing the effectiveness. In contrast to similar articles, we justified that the higher the autonomy and financial independence, the higher the level of efficiency and technical change in the infrastructure of the railway transport.
