ABSTRACT. A study on performance of crossed local cock with Kedu hen on production phase given diet with different level of protein have been conducted at experimental farm of Syiah Kuala University. The objective of the research was to study the production performance of local chiken and crossed local cock with Kedu given different level of protein. There were 24 local chiken and 24 crossed local cock and Kedu hen used in trial. The study was designed in Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with factorial pattern 2 x 3 and 4 replications. There were 2 chicks in each replications. First factor was breed of chicken (A); there were local breed of chiken (A1) and crossed breed of chicken (A2). The second factors were the level of protein in the diet e.g. 16% (R1), 18%(R2), and 20%(R3). Parameters studied were feed consumption, hen day production egg weight, feed conversion and egg indext. The data were analyzed by and analysis of variance and as a significant effect was detected, the analysis was breed and crossed breed. However, there were no significant effect on feed consumption, hen day production, egg weight, feed conversion and egg index. Generally, performance of local breed hen which was feed on 20% protein on the diet.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of different IgY concentrations on the production, reproduction and immunity of Sentul chicken. This research used 20 month-old Sentul chickens which consisting of 10 chickens with high IgY concentration and 10 chickens with low IgY concentration Parameters observed included prelayer performance (feed consumption, weight gain, feed conversion, morbidity and mortality), layer performance (feed consumption, egg production, egg weight, feed conversion, hatchability, morbidity and mortality), and immunity at chicks (IgY concentration of eggs and chicks serum). The experiment was conducted as a completely randomized design. The treatments were high and low IgY concentration. All treatments were repeated 10 times. The data obtained were analyzed using the SAS program t-test. Morbidity and mortality were analyzed descriptively. The results of this research indicated that the prelayer period, chickens with high IgY concentration had a higher performance than chicken with low IgY concentration. This is caused by about 30% chickens with low IgY were in sick condition for approximately seven days. Further, the layer period showed that the chickens with high IgY concentration had lower production performance than the chicken with low IgY concentration. The study concluded that chickens at low IgY concentrations are susceptible to exposure to antigens that lead to decreased productivity. In normal conditions hens, Sentul with high IgY concentration resulted in low production. The observation of chicken immunity showed that concentration of IgY from chicks and eggs did not differ between hens with high IgY concentrations and hens with low IgY concentrations.

ABSTRAKLimbah udang merupakan limbah pengolahan udang yang memiliki potensi sebagai pakan sumber protein bagi ternak puyuh. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji penggunaan tepung limbah udang (TLU) sebagai sumber protein pakan pada puyuh fase layer. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap empat perlakuan lima ulangan perlakuan yang digunakan terdiri dari empat level penggunaan tepung limbah udang dalam ransum yaitu P0 (kontrol), P1 (5% TLU), P2 (7,5% TLU) dan P3 (10% TLU), tiap unit perlakuan disi dengan 5 ekor puyuh. Puyuh yang diguanakan adalah puyuh fase layer umur 20 minggu, sebanyak 100 ekor yang didistribusikan kedalam 20 unit percobaan. Bahan pakan yang digunakan adalah jagung, dedak padi, konsentrat petelur dan tepung limbah udang. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis ragam dan data yang berbeda nyata (P<0,05) diuji lanjut menggunakan uji duncan. Variabel yang diamati adalah performa produksi: konsumsi pakan, produksi telur, bobot telur dan konversi ransum. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan TLU dalam ransum (P1,P2 dan P3) menunjukkan pengaruh nyata (P<0,05) dibanding kontrol pada minggu ke-tiga penelitian terhadap bobot telur dan konversi ransum, penggunaan TLU (P1,P2,P3) selama lima minggu meningkatkan konsumsi ransum (P<0,05) dibanding kontrol tetapi tidak berbeda nyata (P>0,05) terhadap produksi telur, bobot telur dan konversi ransum. Kesimpulan penelitian ini bahwa penggunaan TLU dalam ransum dapat digunakan hingga level 7,5% sedangkan level 10% menunjukkan adanya penurunan rata-rata performa produksi.Kata kunci: tepung limbah udang, puyuh fase layer, performa produksiABSTRACTShrimp waste was shrimp processing waste which has the potential as protein source for quail feed. This study was aimed to examine the use of shrimp waste flour (SWF) asprotein source for laying quail feed. This study used  completely randomized design that consist of four treatments and five replications.The treatmentswere using levels of shrimp waste flour in feed and consist of P0 (control), P1 (5% SWF), P2 (7.5% SWF) and P3 (10% SWF ). Each treatment unit was filled with 5 quails. One hundred of 20 weeks laying quails were used in this study. Self mixing feed that contained corn, rice bran, laying concentrate and shrimp waste flour were used in this study. The data obtained were analyzed using analyze of variance and continued using Duncan multiple range test. The variables observed were production performance that consist of feed consumption, egg production, egg weight and feed conversionratio. The results showed that the use of SWF in feed (P1, P2 and P3) showed a significant effect (P <0.05) compared to controls in the third week of research on egg weight and feed conversion ratio.The use of SWF (P1, P2, P3) for five weeks increased feed consumption (P <0.05) compared to controls but not significantly different (P>0.05) for egg production, egg weight and feed conversion. The conclusion of this study was the use of SWF in feed can be used until 7.5% on laying quail feed while the level of 10% indicates a decrease in average production performance.Keywords: shrimp waste flour, laying quail, production performance

EFFECT OF REPLACEMENT OF CORN WITH SORGUM Cv. KAWALI IN PELLET RANSUM ON LOCAL RABBIT PERFORM. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of substitution corn with sorghum in rabbit rations on feed consumption, body weight gain, and ration conversion. The duration of the study was 28 days using 20 local rabbits. The statistical design used in this study was a completely randomized design, with 4 (four) treatment rations and 5 (five) replications. The four experimental rations, namely R0: 45% corn + 0% sorghum, R1: 30% corn + 15% sorghum, R2 15% corn + 30% sorghum, R3 0% corn + 45% sorghum. Variables were measured, viz: feed consumption, body weight gain and ration conversion. The results showed that the average of feed consumption, body weight gain, and feed conversion, were: 28.27–30.59 g /head /day, 15.76–21.55 g / head /day, and 1.42-1.80 g /head /day, respectively. Based on the analysis of variance, the treatments ration had no significant effect (P> 0.05) on consumption, but had a very significant effect (P <0.01) on body weight gain and feed conversion. The LSD test showed that all treatment rations using sorghum (R1, R2, and R3) gave results of body weight gain which were very significantly different (P <0.01) and higher than R0. Whereas, on ration conversion, treatments R1, R2, and R3 give very different results (P <0.01) lower than R0. It is concluded that the substitution of corn with sorghum at the level of 45% in the ration gives the highest results for body weight gain and conversion of rations for rabbits. Keywords: corn, sorghum, ration, performance, local rabbit

This study aims to evaluate and analyze the characteristics of the quality of semen, and hatching of Arab chicken eggs and the growth of crosses from chicks. This research was conducted at the Permata Farmer Group business, Wua-wua Village, Wua-wua District Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi for three months. This study uses a Completely Randomized Design which is three treatments and six replications. The parameters measured were semen quality, egg weight, egg index, fertility, DOC weight gain, feed consumption, and feed conversion. The data analysis used is Analysis of Variance. The results of this study indicate that the consequences of crossing three males did not have a significant effect (P> 0.05) on the measured parameters. It can be seen in the research process which gives results that are not much different from the results of the crossing of three different males using the Arabic parent in the initial phase of production.

This experimental study aims to evaluate the use of Indigofera leaves that have undergone cocktail enzyme treatment in male Mojosari duck feed. The research treatment was using Indigofera leaves due to enzyme cocktail treatment on male Mojosari duck feed with four levels: 0, 5, 10 and 15% of total feed, with six replications (@ five ducks) using 120 ducks in a completely randomized design. The variables measured and observed in this study were the production performance of male ducks, which included feed consumption, body weight growth, feed conversion. The research results were processed by analysis of variance (ANCOVA) because the coefficient of variation in initial body weight was 17.7%. The results showed that the addition of Indigofera leaf meal to the feed of male Mojosari ducks tended to reduce feed consumption (P<0.01) and body weight gain (P<0.05) but did not increase the FCR value (P>0.05). Indigofera flour needs to be processed first with a cocktail enzyme treatment to improve its nutritional quality so that it can be used as feed for ducks in larger quantities. Male Mojosari ducks that are kept need to be harvested at more than seven weeks to get a higher harvest weight.

This research aimed to determine the effect of different energy and protein level giving in Arabic chicken on feed consumption, egg production and feed conversion. The materials used for this experiment were 80 heads of arabic chicken 5 months age and maintained for 6 weeks (36 days). The method used was completely randomized design (CRD) which consists of 4 treatments and 10 replications that R1 (protein 15% and EM 2 500 Kcal), R2 (protein 16% and EM 2 600 Kcal), R3 (protein 17% and EM 2 700 Kcal) and R4 (protein 18% and EM 2 800 Kcal). Analysis of variance showed that treatment significantly (P<0.05) on feed consumption, egg production and feed conversion. It could be concluded that more increasing energy and protein, the higher egg production, feed consumption and generates optimal feed conversion. Energy and protein with a protein level of 18% and energy 2 800 Kcal kg-1 showed better performance.

PERFORMANS OF QUAIL (Coturnix – coturnix japonica) PROVIDED CONCH PADDY (Pila ampullacea) FLOUR  AS A SUBSTITUTE FOR FISH FLOUR IN THE RATION. This research aims to determine the extent to which the use of conch paddy (Pila ampullacea) flour as a substitute for fish flour in the ration on the performances of Quail (Coturnix- Coturnix japonica). This research used 60 quail 5-week-old female and for data collection was performed 8 weeks. The design used was a completely randomized design (CRD), which consists of 4 treatments and 5 replications. Such treatment is the conch paddy flour with some level of giving in the ration, which is : R0 = 0% conch paddy flour + 15% fish flour, R1 = 5% conch paddy flour + 10% fish flour, R2 = 10% conch paddy flour + 5% fish flour, and R3 = 15% conch paddy flour + 0% fish flour. Variables measured in order to see the response of quail to the conch paddy flour is feed consumption, egg production and feed conversion. Results of analysis of variance showed that the treatment was not significantly different on feed consumption, egg production and feed conversion. Based on the results of this research indicate conch paddy flour up to the level of 15% can be used as a substitute for fish flour in the ration of quail. Development of poultry has been done in terms of breeding, feeding and management. However, the implementation still faces many challenges such as the problem of production decrease. One cause of the decline in production is a health disorder caused by pathogenic bacteria (Salmonella sp and Escherichia coli). One way to overcome the problem is the use of Piper bettle linn Juice as a feed additive. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of Piper bettle linn Juice as a feed additive to the performance of laying hens. The method used is the biological test of laying hens age 69 weeks of Isa Brown Strain of 250 laying hens, using Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with 5 treatments and 5 replications. The results of the research showed that Piper bettle linn Juice gave no significant effect (P> 0,05) to feed consumption and mortality. Influence significantly (P<0,01) to Hen Day Production (HDP), egg weight and Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR).

PRODUCTION PERFORMANCE OF LAYING HENS MB 402 FED RATION COINTAINING OIL OF  CAKALANG FISH WASTE (Skipjack Tuna). This study was conducted to determine the production performance of laying hens (MB 402) fed ration containing fish oil waste. The materials used in this study were 100 laying hens at the age of 36 weeks. The treatments used were: 100% basal feed (R0), basal feed 99 % with  1% FOW (R1), basal feed 98% with 2% FOW (R2), basal feed  97% with 3% FOW (R3), basal feed 96% with 4% FOW (R4). Variables observed were including feed consumption (g/bird), Hen Day Production (%), feed conversion. Method used was the completely randomized design (CRD) continued by Duncan’s test for the significant analysis of variance. Treatments were replicated 5 times consist of 4 laying hens per replication. Results showed that the use of fish oil waste had no significant effect (P < 0.05) on feed consumption, Hen Day Production and feed conversion. Based on the results of this study, it was concluded that use of fish oil waste in the diet as much as 4 % could be recommended in ration to give the sama production performance of laying hens (MB 402). This research aim to determine the effect of native orange (Citrus microcarpa) to drink water on body weight, feed consumtion and FCR (feed convertion rate). The variables in this study were body weight, feed consumption and feed conversion in broiler. The used materials were day old chick (DOC) strain CP707 as many as 80 birds, were placed in cages with size of (5,5 x 2,5 x 2 m) is partitioned into 20 units an each unit in the experiment with the contents of 4 chickens. Feed used is commercial feed. The method used completely randomized design (CRD), with 4 treatment and 5 replications. with level treatment P0 (commercial feed and 0% native orange for 1 L water), P1 (commercial feed and 0,4 native orange for 1 L water), P2 (commercial feed and 0,8% native oramge for 1 L water) and P3 (commercial feed and 1,2% native orange for 1 L water). Data were analyzed using analysis of variance at level 5% and followed by honesty significant different (HSD). The result showed treatment not significant with body weight, feed consumtion  and FCR (feed convertion rate). Conclusion increment native orange to drink water not significantly on body weight, feed consumtion and FCR (feed convertion rate). Keyword: Citrus microcarpa, Broiler and Performance
