This article is part of an international relations study conducted by the authors. This study aims to illustrate the extent to which Indonesia can get out of the “entanglement” of the COVID-19 pandemic, especially in the tourism industry sector. Another purpose of writing this article is to analyze the Indonesian government’s role in using the term “new normal” and its relation to sustainable tourism during the COVID-19 pandemic has not ended. Tourism during the COVID-19 pandemic is the focus of the discussion of this article because it is one of the industries most harmed by this pandemic. Globally the loss of world tourism reaches US$22 billion. This figure will continue to increase as long as this pandemic cannot be controlled through vaccines and drugs. No exception for Indonesia, which lost the country’s original income from this sector, reaching tens of trillions of rupiah in just four months since WHO announced COVID-19 as a global pandemic. The new normal situation during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is an opportunity as well as a challenge for world tourism in general and Indonesian tourism in particular. The change in lifestyle and habits of the community in traveling directly or indirectly has “hit” this industry very hard. Undeniably, reactivating tourism industry activities do have considerable risk, but on the other hand, many sectors depend on this industry. Cleanliness, Health, Safety, Environment Sustainability (CHSE) strategy conducted by the Indonesian government is one of the efforts in re-mobilizing Indonesia’s tourism sector amid the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the opportunity to apply three main principles of sustainable tourism in the new normal era, namely involving the social sector in policy engagement, maintaining the sustainability of natural resources and making sustainable development a synonym of economic growth.

International and European tourism underwent a constant and almost unprecedented development in the last decades. In 2018, international tourism displayed the ninth year of consecutive growth that exceeded even the increase of world GDP according to UNWTO data. This ascending trend continued in 2019, and the perspectives were promising according to predictions. The beginning of 2020 brought with it the outspread of a global pandemic and one of the most sensitive industries proved to be the industry of tourism and travel. The pandemic is from this perspective an opportunity for reconsidering the criteria for ensuring sustainable tourism while it proved the frailty of the entire tourism sector. The paper presents a brief analysis of the developments in international tourism, especially regarding European tourism in the pre-pandemic context. It is based on the principles of sustainability that should govern this industry and perceive the opportunities or threats of this pandemic. Regarding the methodology, we used the main available data and discussed the current analytical prediction models, because COVID-19 has changed and will continue to change the tourism industry.

The Covid-19 pandemic has a major impact on the tourism sector in DIY which causes material losses to Regional Original Income (PAD). This study aims to describe changes in the tourism sector in the conditions before the pandemic, during the pandemic, and the new normal. The results showed that the tourism sector during the pandemic and the new normal era must implement (1) health protocols for the tourism industry such as hotels, restaurants, tourist destinations, and transportation for both visitors and employees by paying attention to cleanliness, health and safety (cleanliness, health, and safety) by providing hygiene facilities such as hand washing and soap, hand sanitizers, and temperature checks with a thermo gun. The hotel even provides isolation rooms for visitors with corona symptoms, (2) Payment using electronic money (cashless). (3) Limiting the number of visitors to prevent crowds and provide a safe distance to minimize spread, and (4) Tourist locations are opened gradually by prioritizing low-risk areas such as natural and mountainous areas. ABSTRAK Wabah COVID-19 di seluruh dunia telah membuat dunia terhenti, dan pariwisata menjadi yang terpuruk dari semua sektor ekonomi utama di seluruh dunia tak terkecuali Indonesia. Pulau – pulau kecil di Indonesia timur yang menggantungkan perekonomian dari segi pariwisata bahari juga terkena dampak besar akibat situasi pandemi. Kabupaten Maluku Tenggara adalah salah satunya. Pelonggaran terhadap aktivitas industri pariwisata dimulai sejak diumumkannya masa new normal oleh pemerintah. Dua destinasi unggulan Kabupaten Maluku Tenggara yakni Pantai Ngurbloat dan Ngursarnadan memulai aktivitas pada kawasan wisata dengan jumlah pengunjung yang didominasi oleh wisatawan lokal. Tingginya wisatawan lokal yang berwisata, menunjukan kebutuhan masyarakat terhadap aktivitas berwisata sangat tinggi. Perilaku wisatawan terhadap keputusan berwisata dalam masa new normal dapat dipicu oleh berbagai faktor. Proses pengambilan keputusan wisatawan dalam berwisata ke destinasi wisata pantai Ngurbloat dan Ngursarnadan sangat penting diketahui oleh stakeholder atau pengelola kawasan wisata Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui dan menjelaskan pengaruh perilaku wisatawan secara simultan terhadap keputusan berwisata, pengaruh secara parsial perilaku wisatawan terhadap keputusan berwisata serta faktor yang paling menonjol mempengaruhi keputusan wisatawan dalam berwisata pada Pantai Ngurbloat dan Ngursardanan. Metode pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini menggunakan kuesioner dan wawancara dengan analisa regeresi linier berganda. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa faktor budaya, sosial, pribadi dan psikologis secara simultan berpengaruh terhadap keputusan wisatawan berkunjung ke pantai Ngurbloat dan Ngursarnadan. Sedangkan, pengaruh secara parsial hanya pada faktor sosial, pribadi dan psikologis berpengaruh terhadap keputusan wisatawan untuk berkunjung ke Pantai Ngurbloat dan Ngursarnadan. Faktor yang paling dominan mempengaruhi keputusan berwisata wisatawan adalah faktor psikologis dengan nilai Koefisien sebesar 0.497 Kata Kunci : Perilaku Wisatawan, Keputusan berwisata, Pantai Ngurbloat, Pantai   Ngursarnadan ABSTRACT The worldwide outbreak of COVID-19 has brought the world to a standstill, and tourism has been the worst affected of all major economic sectors  in the entire world as well as Indonesia. In eastern Indonesia, the economy of small islands depends on the marine tourism sector which has been affected by the pandemic. Southeast Maluku Regency is one of the islands affected by pandemic. The government has suspended the activity of tourist and travel. The tourism industry is gradually starting to recovery and improve. reopened tourist areas in Southeast Maluku Regency have begun in August 2020 with the COVID-19 health protocol. Two leading destinations of Southeast Maluku Regency, Ngurbloat Beach and Ngursarnadan Beach, started activities in tourist areas with the number of visitors dominated by local tourists. The purpose of this study was to know and explain the influence of tourist behavior simultaneously on travel decisions, the partial influence of tourist behavior on travel decisions and the dominant faktor influencing the decision of tourists in visiting Ngurbloat and Ngursardanan Beaches. The results of this study showed that cultural, social, personal and psychological faktors silmultan influence the decision of tourists visiting Ngurbloat  and Ngursarnadan Beach. Meanwhile, the partial influence is only on social, personal and psychological factors on the decision of tourist to visit Ngurbloat and Ngursarnadan beach. Tourism is the economic driver for many emerging countries, and the main key distribution components of wealth in the world. Globally, tourism generated over 10% of the world Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and provided an estimation of 115 million jobs in 2017. Moreover, the tourism sector consumed 1% of the global consumption of water. This paper reviews the current literature that focuses on water usage in tourism sector and water management initiatives in tourism in order to identify the current and future contrast between water demand and supply for sustainable tourism, and to understand the key issues and challenges facing water usage in Malaysia. Furthermore, the paper examines the linkages between tourism and water consumption, and analyses the trends in water consumption. The paper concludes by emphasizing the importance of improving and enhancing the existing water resources policies in order to conserve nature while promoting sustainable tourism industry.

The tourism sector has continued to be one of the most affected business units in 2020 in connection with a global pandemic. Numerous regions and tourist destinations, tourist hotspots and accommodations have been subjected to serious changes with a substantial economic impact. Thereby, the question arises as to whether the capacity to respond to customers' needs through functional digital engagement strategies is efficient for supporting a recovery and sustainable development of the tourism industry. This article comments on and provides a critical analysis of the recent online strategies related to content marketing applied to the tourism sector due to a global pandemic and the need to implement a different attitude towards tourismoriented projects. The article proposes some examples of efficient policies that fit in with changes in the world tourism market.

The world is facing the COVID-19 pandemic that has impacted economies and millions of people worldwide. The fact that COVID-19 is highly contagious from person to person has greatly affected the daily lives of people, and it has also had a devastating effect on many sectors, particularly the tourism industry. In order to mitigate losses for the tourism sector and for it to gain a new dynamism under the current pandemic conditions, monitoring and analyzing online reviews is an important factor for better understanding the needs and desires of customers. The purpose of this study was to determine the main topics in online reviews by foreign guests staying in İstanbul during the pandemic period using text mining techniques. The information obtained as a result of the analysis is important in terms of understanding how to manage the current situation, developing suggestions for solutions, improving service quality, making future decisions, and adapting to the new normal.

Internationally, the accessible tourism market has been identified as a growing segment that could lead the way for social inclusiveness, as well as providing the industry with financial gains and destination competitiveness. Despite the increased number of people who travel with access requirements, the sector still lacks an understanding of the expectations and experiences of access tourists. Accessible tourism covers an array of impairments from people who are immobile, visually impaired, an invisible impairment, parents with pushchairs, and seniors. The purpose of this study was to understand the expectations and experiences of the access consumer to suggest improvements for accessibility for the New Zealand tourism sector. The social model of disability was adopted to examine the sector and framed the semi-structured interviews with access consumers. Key results identified from the data were the need to achieve dignity in service offerings to gain experiences that facilitate independence and equity of access, access to information before the travel that is clear and accurate to aid planning, and accessible transport and education. In conclusion, the paper calls for the New Zealand tourism industry to align with the Disability Strategy sustainability goals to achieve equity and inclusion and create enjoyable accessible experiences in their tourist offerings.

Pertumbuhan Kunjungan wisatawan ke Kabupaten Nias beberapa tahun belakangan menggambarkan peningkatan aktifitas sosialekonomi masyarakat Nias di bidang pariwisata. Peningkatan aktifitas sosial-ekonomi ini menjadi salah satu faktor pemicu mobilitas sosial penduduk dalam meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat Nias. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan jawaban apakah mobilitas penduduk Nias melalui aktifitas yang berbasis industri pariwisata dapat meningkatkan status sosialekonomi masyarakatnya; serta bagaimana mobilitas sosial penduduk Nias dalam meningkatkan status sosial-ekonomi yang berbasis pariwisata. Landasan teori dalam penelitian ini adalah mobilitas sosial yang diimplementasikan oleh sebagian anggota masyarakat yang telah memiliki tingkat daya terima (aksesibilitas) yang tinggi. Bekerjanya mobilitas sosial dan aksesibilitas tersebut dapat meningkatkan status sosial ekonomi para anggota masyarakat melalui aktifitas sosial. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian gabungan yang merupakan kombinasi metode penelitian kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Penarikan sampel dilakukan secara acak (sampling of random) dengan analisis data menggunakan teknik distribusi frekuensi. Hasil penelitian menjelaskan mobilitas sosial penduduk dengan beberapa jenis pergerakan sosial, diantara pergerakan tersebut yaitu mobilitas sosial horizontal, mobilitas sosial vertical naik, mobilitas vertikal turun, mobilitas sosial antar generasi, dan mobilitas sosial intra generasi yang berdampak pada tingkat aksesibilitas para anggota masyarakatnya.   The growth of tourist visits to Nias Regency in recent years illustrates the increase in the socio-economic activities of Nias people in the tourism sector. This increase in socio-economic activities is one of the factors that trigger the social mobility of the population in improving the welfare of Nias people. This study aimed to find answers to whether the mobility of Nias residents through activities based on the tourism industry could improve the socio-economic status of their communities; and how the social mobility of Nias residents improved tourism-based socio-economic status. The basis of the theory in this study was the social mobility implemented by some members of the community who had high levels of acceptance (accessibility). The operation of social mobility and accessibility can improve the socio-economic status of community members through social activities. This research used a combined research method which was a combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods. Sampling was done randomly (sampling of random) by analyzing the data using frequency distribution techniques. The results explained the social mobility of the population with several types of social movements, which were horizontal social mobility, vertical upward social mobility, downward vertical mobility, intergenerational social mobility, and intra-generation social mobility having impacts on the accessibility of members of the community.

Tourism sector has been considered as the crucial sectors of many different countries of the world. And sustainable tourism brings enormous scope as a rapid growing economic sector on the basis of foreign exchange earnings and generation of employment opportunity and thereby elevating poverty from the country. The central aim of this study is to investigate the role of sustainable tourism in alleviating poverty from developing countries, especially the northern part of Bangladesh.  For this purpose, the different tourism sites have been selected that are situated in Rajshahi region like Padma Garden, Varendra Museum and Shaheed Kamruzzaman Zoo. Rajshahi, the major tourist destination region in Bangladesh which is very beautiful and flourished that has a great chance to contribute country’s infrastructure and economic development. This study conducts a survey on 200 respondents in three different places of Rajshahi through the structured questionnaires, observation, interview and literature review. An exploratory research method was employed because the nature of the study was descriptive due to the fact that most of the respondents were illiterate or semi   illiterate. Besides IBM SPSS Statistics 20 is being used to analyze the data. Through the factor analysis and other measurements tools this study expatiates the social, cultural, economic, environmental and other factors which touching the sustainability of Rajshahi and also provide recommendations about the required steps that needs to be taken into account to palliate and to manage the drawbacks of tourism to make Rajshahi as a sustainable tourism destination. Besides it reveals the relationship between tourism development and poverty alleviation in Bangladesh. The study also suggested few ways by which existing tourism can be promoted and well developed in Bangladesh thereby ensuring sustainable tourism development (STD) and economic growth.
