We report a case of 23-year-old male patient with tuberculosis verrucous cutis on the foot for a duration of six months without responding to routine treatment. Tuberculosis is a common disease worldwide. Extrapulmonary tuberculosis contributes to 10% of cases. Cutaneous tuberculosis occupies a small spectrum of extrapulmonary tuberculosis. Tuberculosis verrucosa cutis is an exogenous infection occurring in a previously sensitized patient by direct inoculation of the organism. It occurs in sensitized patients with a moderate to high immune response. The diagnosis in our patient was confirmed by history, clinical examination, histopathological examination and the patient’s response to anti-tuberculous therapy.

A 73-year-old male patient was admitted with symptoms of decompensated cardiac and pulmonary insufficiency with long-lasting history. A tumor-like formation was observed within the clinical examination, covering the whole skin of the nose, paranasal region of the left part of the face, as well as the upper and lower left eyelids. The lesion was with yellow to brownish surface and dark-reddish to violet discolored peripheral area, composed of nodular formations, smooth central surface and firm texture on palpation. The histopathological examination verified the diagnosis of hemangioma, which had been congenital, regarding the patient’s history, treated surgically about 50 years ago, with signs of recurrence. The presented patient had been treated surgically at the age of 20, without medical evidence of the type of the performed excision. The recurrence occurs almost 50 years later, at the age of 78. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported recurrence of infantile hemangioma, treated surgically almost 50 years ago.

We can correlate stricture of the urethra with Mutra marga sankoch or Mutrotsanga which is a common disease of the urinary tract. Gradual urethral dilatation, transurethral resection of urethral stricture, urethrotomy, urethroplasty etc. are examples of some common surgeries which are practised today to cure stricture of urethra. But recurrence rate is high after all these surgeries while the cure rate is low. Many years ago, in our ancient texts, it is mentioned that uttarbasti can be beneficial for the management of such types of urinary tract diseases. In the present case, a 45-year-old male patient came to the OPD of Shri Krishna Government Ayurvedic College &Hospital, Kurukshetra, Haryana. He had complaints of retention of urine, painful micturition, straining & dribbling of urine for the last 5- 6 years and also patient had to catheterize himself daily in the morning for micturition. So, after taking proper history, clinical examination and investigations (retrograde urethrography) the case was diagnosed as anterior ure- thral stricture and the patient was treated with Ayurvedic para surgical procedure i.e., Tila taila, madhu & lavana uttarbasti to cure stricture of urethra. We got significant results after this study. Hence, through this article, we tried our best to re-establishes the effect of Tila taila, madhu & saindhava lavana uttarbasti in males for the stricture of the urethra. Keywords: Urethral stricture, Mutramarga sankoch, Mutrotsanga, Uttarbasti, Madhu, Saindhava lavana.

Infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis or other very closely related strains, as well as the inflammatory reaction of the host, define the disease tuberculosis. Cutaneous tuberculosis constitutes a small proportion of extrapulmonary tuberculosis. Extensive, multifocal involvement of cutaneous tuberculosis is a rare manifestation. We report one such case of tuberculosis verrucosa cutis in a 24 year old immunocompetent male patient.

Abstract Background Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a common disease which causes various health problems for elderly men such as urinary retention, recurring urinary tract infection and bladder stones. The aim of this study is to evaluate the therapeutic effects of Juniperus communis L. seed extract (JCS) on BPH in male Wistar rats. Methods To this end, 30 rats were divided into 5 groups (N = 6): group 1 (vehicle), group 2 (disease control), group 3 (standard medicine; 10 mg/kg finasteride), and groups 4 and 5 were treated with 300 mg/kg and 600 mg/kg of the hydroalcoholic JCS seed extract, respectively. Groups 2, 3, 4 and 5 received testosterone enanthate to induce prostatic hyperplasia. At the end of experimental period (28 days), prostate glands were cut off under anesthesia. Histopathological examination was done and biochemical parameters such as Malondialdehyde, Glutathione and protein carbonyl were also measured. Their body weights were also observed during the study. At the end of the experiment, prostate weights and prostate specific antigen (PSA) levels were measured. Prostate index, inhibition prostate weight and inhibition prostate index were also calculated. Results Both histopathological examination and biochemical parameter results showed significant improvements in rats treated with finasteride and 600 mg/kg JCS extract (p < 0.01). In addition, PSA levels showed significant decrease in comparison with the disease group. But acute toxicity test indicated that using JCS extract resulted in an increase in liver enzymes (ALP, LDH, SGOT, SGPT). As a result, the extract should be used with caution. Conclusions Oral administration of JCS extract is effective on preventing testosterone-induced benign prostatic hyperplasia.

There are signicant differences in the histopathology of leprosy lesions which is inuenced by the host immune response to Mycobacterium leprae. Objective - To nd the histopathological changes in newly diagnosed multibacillary leprosy(MB) cases registered in the skin department Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram. Method- skin biopsy performed in 40 multibacillary leprosy cases and histopathological ndings were evaluated. 70% showed epidermal atrophy. Granulomas, composed of sheets of foamy macro Results- phages, lymphocytes and epithelioid cells, were seen in 21 cases & twenty two cases were AFB positive. Eight cases each were lepromatous, borderline tuberculoid, mid boderline, borderline lepromatous types. Conclusion- Presence of 60% cases of borderline leprosy indicates the unstable immune response in leprosy patients. Majority were either borderline lepromatous or lepromatous showing the infective nature of multibacillary leprosy. Histopathological examination with Fite- Foroco staining is a crucial method and the gold standard for accurate diagnosis and typing of leprosy.

Schwannomatosis is a rare disorder, still not quite well defined, seldom described in the literature. In this paper we report the case of male. Patient, 52 years old, who in the last 30 years developed five subcutaneous tumors within his limbs peripheral nerves, which histologically proved to be schwannomas. A brain computed tomography showed a partially calcified tumor in the left temporal lobe which most likely was a meningioma. A thorough clinical examination was unable to find signs of type I or type II neurofibromatosis. The present condition, probably a form of phacomatosis, has to be distinguished from neurofibromatosis and is considered as an independent clinical entity whose origin still awaits further detailed investigations.

Background: Transvaginal sonography is superior to transabdominal sonography in most cases of pelvic pathology. Objective: This study was undertaken to see the clinicalpathological characteristics of endometrial hyperplasia. Methodology: This cross sectional study was carried out from January 2007 to December 2008 for a period of two years. All suspected cases of endometrial hyperplasia were included for this study. Transvaginal sonography (TVS) performed and confirmation was done by histopathological examination. Result: A total number of 40 cases were enrolled for this study. The most common diagnosed endometrial pathology was endometrial hyperplasia which was 42.5% cases. Endometrial polyp was diagnosed in 32.5% cases. Endometrial carcinoma was in 7.5% patients and submucosal fibroid was in 10.0%. Conclusion: Endometrial hyperplasia is the most common disease among the women presented with endometrial pathology. Objective: Abdominal tuberculosis is a kind of extrapulmonary tuberculosis that can usually occur during the lymphohematogenous spread of first Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection, develop by neighborhood from an abdominal focus or a mesenteric lymph node. The aim of this study is to evaluate pediatric cases diagnosed with abdominal tuberculosis. Material and Methods: Between 2012-2018, seven patients diagnosed with abdominal tuberculosis through patients who diagnosed with extrapulmonary tuberculosis in our hospital, were included in study. Demographic and clinical characteristics, diagnostic methods, commenced treatments and clinical follow up of patients were listed from medical records. Results: Of patients, four were female. The mean age was 144.2 ± 42.7 months. None of the patients had a history of tuberculosis contact. The median complaint time was 20 days (5-180). The most frequent complaint was abdominal pain and the most frequent physical examination finding was abdominal tenderness. Mean white blood cell count was 9.26 x 103 ± 4.77 x 103 μ/L, C reactive protein level: 79.9 ± 54.9 mg/dL, erytrocyte sedimentation rate: 45 ± 30 mm/h. Tuberculin skin test was positive in two patients, interferon gamma releasing assay was positive in three patients, and in two patients, both tests were positive. There were findings suggesting tuberculosis on pulmonary imaging in five patients and abdominal imaging in all patients. Histopathological examination of the specimens of six patients revealed findings consistent with tuberculosis. The presence of M. tuberculosis was confirmed microbiologically in clinical specimens taken from three patients. The most common abdominal tuberculosis type was mesenteric lymphadenitis. The mean time from admission to diagnosis was 15 ± 12.8 days. All patients recieved antituberculosis treatment. Conclusion: Abdominal tuberculosis should be kept in mind, in patients presenting with abdominal complaints lasting more than five days. Ultrasonography and computed tomography are useful to determine abdominal tuberculosis type. The disease can be sucsessfully treated with standart antituberculosis treatment.
