The article is an invitation to discuss the role and tasks of the psychologist in the modern school. It advances the thesis that the primary role of the psychologist is to co-create the school environment and the educational process. Being a co-creator is the essence of the presented model of the psychologist’s work in the school system. The model covers psychological activities defined as monitoring promotion prevention, and intervention. It identifies the need to continually expand the possibilities of psychological influences and to create an autonomous vision of their realization. Adopting and performing this role in the way described in the model seems to be crucial to building the professional identity of the educational psychologist—and a well-defined and clarified professional identity is the basic regulator of a person’s functioning in his/her professional role.

The article presents an analysis of the research conducted among students of the faculty of psychology. The purpose is to study the place and role of the psychological service of the school (school psychologist) in the overall process of educational socialization of yesterday's schoolchildren. The study involved 123 students. The geography of the schools where the respondents studied were extremely wide – from Kyiv to the small village of Novosilki (Kyiv, Poltava, Odessa, Khmelnytsky, Vinnytsia, Chernigov, Kropivnitsky, Cherkasy, Lugansk, Sumy, Belaya Tserkov, Kalush, Kremenchuk, Mariupol, Yanchenko-Podilsky, Ostrog, Pokrovsk, Hrebinka, Chervonograd, Zelenodolsk, Melnitsa-Podilsky, Terka and others). They were offered a questionnaire containing 10 questions, as well as a projective picture. The results show that the school psychologist takes most of the time to test (without legalizing goals and testing results). Often meetings with a psychologist are related to the issue of professional orientation, the choice of profession, diagnosis of professional abilities. The term "consultation" is not actually mentioned by the students. In 10.4 % of respondents, negative emotions associated with a psychologist have been preserved, in particular, it indicates unprofessional actions: violation of confidentiality, moral pressure, humiliation against classmates. Lack of real interaction between students and a psychologist, more often it is formal. The students noticed that the psychologist had never had contact with parents, and 5 persons received professional out-of-school psychological assistance. Among the functions that were not specific to the psychologist was the replacement of the lessons of other teachers, the organization of holidays, or even in general. The psychologist at school has no autonomy, the subject of activity is "dissolved" in pedagogical activity, the functions and role that he performs negatively affects his professional identity. The obtained results give grounds to assert the necessity Modernization of the system of school psychological service taking into account transformational changes in the school environment today.

The article is dedicated to the actuality of the problem of implementing a gender approach as key in creating a non-discriminatory school environment in the conditions of reforming the educational system of Ukraine. The authors’ understanding of the essence of the non-discriminatory environment in an educational institution as safe, healthy, inclusive and gender-equitable is given; the role of a teacher in this process is indicated. The essence of the gender approach and the peculiarities of its implementation in the general secondary education institutions are revealed. The results of the study of the content and prevalence of gender views and stereotypes among teachers of both sexes are presented. It has been found that most educators are heavily influenced by traditional views on the relationship between the genders. The differences in the gender perceptions of female teachers and male teachers depending on age and teaching experience have been revealed. About 20% of teachers implement a gender approach in school practice. It is empirically proved, that pedagogical groups deepen differentiation of social and psychological requirements and expectations regarding pupils and students. Most teachers remain uncertain in their gender orientations, profess the ideology of complementarity of male and female roles. The educational process in secondary education establishments reinforces traditional views on the dichotomy of women and men social roles and to a lesser extent demonstrates the equality and equivalence of both sexes, capable of assertive behavior and the interchangeability of gender roles. Prospects for further research outline a further need to determine ways to develop the egalitarian culture of teachers of general secondary education.

AbstractThe strengthening of professional identity (PI) of teachers of higher education institutions (HEI) is one of the ways to improve the quality of educational process. Performance of professional role(s) can be identified as the key component of PI. The contemporary university teacher performs many professional roles: she/he is a lecturer, researcher, supervisor of students’ research works, expert, and so on. Multi-role activity of a teacher is considered as a characteristic feature of the profession by the colleagues in Latvia, Russia and other countries. This research is based on the data obtained during the implementation of the Project ‘Professional Identity of Contemporary Pedagogue’ in 2014–2016 by the researchers from Riga (Latvia) and Smolensk (Russia). In the realization of the project, the six-component structural model of the content of HEI teacher’s PI was created and the survey was carried out using the questionnaire ‘HEI Teachers’ Professional Identity’ developed by the project participants. Overall, a total of 198 teachers were surveyed in Riga and Smolensk. The aim of this article was to analyze and compare the data obtained for the PI component ‘Professional Roles’ in the samples of HEI teachers of both the countries. The data were analysed using statistical methods. The results showed that teachers of both the countries perform their professional roles at a high level. Overall, the answers of teachers of the two countries were well agreed. However, some peculiarities in the data of Riga and Smolensk were observed, and some problems of PI of HEI teachers were identified, which require attention of executives of the education reform and teachers.

The article discusses the materials of the sociological study of the educational environment of schools in the Krasnoyarsk region, conducted as part of the interregional research «Psychological comfort of education in modern rural school». Based on the theoretical analysis, the authors highlight two characteristics of the school environment, which have significant impact on the psychological health of schoolchildren and the success of education: tension and emotionality. The study found out quite serious differences in the assessment of the importance of educational parameters by different participants in the educational process: schoolchildren, parents and teachers. In general, all participants in the educational process highly appreciate the tension of the educational environment of schools; and there were no significant differences in the assessment of this parameter between rural and urban schools. According to the participants of the educational process, the school creates the necessary conditions for the development of different abilities of students, development of life skills. The emotional environment of the schools was also well received by all respondents. The most appreciated one is the potential for the development of educational activity, relationship with students, preservation of the personal dignity of students. However, many students note a high level of insecurity from the possible threat of insults, coercion to undesirable actions, from ill-will and insults from teachers and classmates. This requires the development of special measures to prevent bullying, improve the psychological culture of teachers, and design the educational environment of schools.

The role of teaching methods used for new experimental course Mathematical Linguistics, is still a truly unexplored sector of Pedagogy. Based on modern requirements for teaching methods, we can distinguish three types of teaching and, accordingly, its three structures that historically evolved in the process of social development. There are three types of educational process in a modern school, and each of them should be considered as a subsystem of a single classroom system: informational-reporting, explanatory-illustrative and problem-solving. Since the founding of the school, scientists have noticed that a large number of teachers and students’ activities are used during a lesson. They were called teaching methods. The first attempts to identify teaching methods were related to the forms of their recognition, which developed a basis for teaching method classification. Problem-solving method of teaching means the interconnected activity of a teacher and students, which is built on the logic of problem setting with the following search for its solution and aimed at the “discoveryˮ of new knowledge, skills, and abilities by students themselves. One of the main functions of problem-solving method is the formation of students’ independent thinking, development of their creativity. In order to prepare students to creative activity, it is necessary to involve them in independent problem solving process, searching for solutions and making creative decisions. Keywords: teaching method, problem-solving method, problem situation, role play, collective research, dispute, hypothesis.
