Writing skills are definitely essential to be mastered by students. This study described the efforts of Arabic education department of Indonesia University of Education (IUOE) in improving students’ writing skill, specifically in writing journal articles. Descriptive qualitative method was used in this study. This study involved 25 postgraduate students. Data collection was carried out through questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study showed there are four stages that can be performed to improve students’ writing skill in writing journal article, namely 1) Identifying students’ various difficulties in writing scientific journal articles, 2) conducting trainings of scientific journal articles through zoom meeting application in which the materials are based on the problems faced by the postgraduate students, 3) evaluating scientific journal articles that have been written by the postgraduate students, and 4) knowing the students’ perceptions regarding scientific journal article training activities through distributing the questionnaires.

As postgraduate students, researchers or junior lecturers, we all aspire to climb the highest peaks of academic life, to bask in our reflected glory and to have the (small disciplinary) world at our feet. Yet how do we assail those peaks? More often than not, they seem like sheer cliff faces or mountain ranges where the noviciate assemble at the bottom and gaze skywards in disbelief. When we look around at academics who have successfully scaled those heights, it is obvious that an effective publication record is essential, where refereed journal articles are particularly prized. Yet the numbers who gather to attempt their own ascent ask the question – is there any straightforward publication route the beginner can follow? Surely we cannot all be left to cut our own path without really knowing where, how, or even whether we should be travelling at all? This article argues that writing academic journal articles has been mystified. For many wanting to get started, it seems like the final destination is a secret place, somewhere that you might stumble across but one where the locals jealously guard the short-cuts. Here we aim to de-mystify journal article writing and provide 20 steps for the prospective writer. These 20 steps, however, provide more a series of useful directions than a definitive map of the terrain. As beginning academics themselves, the authors are, at best, merely amateur cartographers.

Writing is the most important skill in learning a language. Through writing is a way to express student’s ideas, but most students are still deeply mistaken in spelling, grammar, vocabulary and also punctuation. The one way to fix it is to give the students solution with a tool that can help and guide to show their mistake. This research aim of improving students writing skills using Grammarly application. By using Grammarly students are guided to find out students' errors and how to fix it and improve their writing skills using Grammarly application, especially in second grade in senior high school. This research used a qualitative method through pre-test and posttest. The subject of this research is consists of 32 students in second grade in senior high school. The research finding that’s after using Grammarly application can improve student’s ability in writing and express what their thought and felt. It suggested that students should be confident in conveying their ideas into written form as well as maximizing this Grammarly application to help them find errors in writing and can find the correct one. The development of technology can be used as a means of supporting learning. Like learning based on digital products for students.  The study aimed at describing and analyzing the implementation of learning Arabic Writing Skill (<em>Maharah Kitabah</em>) based on digital products, namely the creation and publication of journal articles and its effects on the learning process. This research was conducted on 22 students writing skills class (<em>Maharah Kitabah) </em>3, 5th of the semester. The method in this research is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques are, 1) observation of learning writing skills (<em>Maharah Kitabah</em>) III, 2) interviews with lecturers and students writing skills classes (<em>Maharah Kitabah</em>) III about the implementation of Arabic Writing Skill (<em>Maharah Kitabah</em>)based on digital product and the impact, and 3) documentation of learning data and works student digital products. <em>Maharah Kitabah </em>learning based on digital products in the form of writing scientific articles online by utilizing references and references of digital managers has a good impact for the students who took part in the <em>Maharah Kitabah</em> learning process with this model, all students were able to make Arabic journal articles using Mendeley and Turnitin citations, and students were able to publish Arabic journal articles to national e-journals.

AbstrakKenaikan pangkat dan golongan bagi Guru PNS menjadi hal yang penting, namun yang harus dilakukan diantaranya adanya publikasi kegiatan ilmiah sebagaimana Permen PAN dan Reformasi Birokrasi Nomor 16 Tahun 2009. Bentuk publikasi ilmiah dapat berasal dari penelitian action research dan eksperimen. Pengetahuan Guru SD tentang metodologi penelitian action research dan penelitian eksperimen serta penulisan artikel ilmiah pada jurnal yang masih minim menjadi masalah tersendiri bagi guru tersebut. Pengabdian Masyarakat tersebut bekerja sama dengan kelompok guru di kecamatan Genuk kota Semarang Provinsi Jawa Tengah. Pelaksanaan pengabdian masayarakat, dalam bentuk kegiatan pelatihan, workshop, pendampingan penelitian dan menyusun artikel jurnal. Artikel jurnal dari peserta pengabdian yang sudah memenuhi syarat maka akan berkesempatan untuk di-publish pada jurnal pendidikan dasar PGSD UNISSULA. Pelaksanaan pengabdian dilakukan dengan mitra kelompok guru di kecamatan Genuk, namun pada pelaksanaannya tim pengabdian disarankan langsung terjun ke SD di lingkungan UPTD Genuk, sehingga tim pengabdian memilih 2 SD di lingkungan UPTD Genuk yaitu SDN Gebangsari 03 dan SDN Genuksari 02. Peserta terdiri dari guru-guru di SD tersebut sejumlah 50 peserta. Tingkat antusiasme dalam mengikuti kegiatan pengabdian sangatlah tinggi. Adapun materi yang diberikan saat pelatihan meliputi Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK), penelitian eksperimen, teknik submit artikel jurnal melalui OJS. Kegiatan pengabdian berlangsung selama 2 bulan di tiap SD yakni pelaksanaan di SDN Gebangsari 03 pada bulan Juli sampai Agustus 2018 sedangkan di SDN Genuksari 02 dilaksanakan dalam Bulan September sampai Oktober 2018 dimulai dari observasi ke lokasi pengabdian, identifikasi masalah sampai dengan pelatihan dan pendampingan pembuatan penelitian dan artikel jurnal. Dari kegiatan pengabdian yang sudah dilaksanakan ada harapan dari pihak mitra untuk menindaklanjuti kegiatan ini dengan kegiatan pelatihan PTS atau penelitian tindakan sekolah bagi kalangan kepala sekolah.Kata kunci: Action research; artikel jurnal; kelompok guru SD; pendampingan metodologi penelitian.AbstractThe promotion and class for PNS teachers is important, but what must be done is the publication of scientific activities such as the Permen PAN and Bureaucratic Reform Number 16 of 2009. Forms of scientific publications can come from action research and experiments. The knowledge of elementary teachers about the methodology of action research and experimental research and the writing of scientific articles in journals that are still minimal is a problem for the teacher. Community Service is working with teacher groups in the sub-district of Genuk, Semarang, Central Java Province. Implementation of community service, in the form of training activities, workshops, research assistance and compiling journal articles. Journal articles from service participants who have fulfilled the requirements will have the opportunity to be published in the PGSD UNISSULA basic education journal. The implementation of service is done with teacher group partners in Genuk sub-district, but in the implementation the service team is advised to directly go to elementary school in Genuk UPTD, so the team the service chose 2 elementary schools in the Genuk UPTD namely SD Gebangsari 03 and SD Genuksari 02. Participants consisted of 50 elementary school teachers. The level of enthusiasm in participating in service activities is very high. The material provided during the training included classroom action research (CAR), experimental research, techniques for submitting journal articles through OJS. The service activities lasted for 2 months in each elementary school, namely the implementation of SD Gebangsari 03 in July to August 2018 while at SD Genuksari 02 held in September to October 2018 starting from observation to the service location, identifying problems up to training and mentoring making research and journal article. From the service activities that have been carried out there is hope from the partners to follow up this activity with PTS training activities or school action research for school principals.Keywords: Action research; journal articles; SD teacher groups; mentoring research methodology

This study aims to increase the writing skills of students of French Education Department of Language and Art Faculty of Yogyakarta State University by using the task-based learning method in Expression Ecrite IV teaching. This is a classroom action research project consisting of two cycles. The subjects’ of the study were 15 students who took Writing IV (Expression Ecrite IV) including the lecturer. Data were collected using a test, an observation, and a questionnaire. The data of the use of teaching method of task-based learning in Expression Ecrite IV obtained by using an observation and a questionnaire was interpreted qualitatively, while the data of students’ learning achievement in writing was analyzed quantitatively. Findings show that the use of learning method of task-based learning in Expression Ecrite IV could increase writing skills of the students. It was shown by the better comprehension and the mastery of materials. It was proven by the increase of the means in the posttest, that were 6.3 in cycle 1 and 7.2 in cycle 2. Besides, there was an improvement of learning process of writing skill IV as indicated by decreasing students’ passivity and increasing participation in meaningful learning activities.

Web-based document editing is a system for making scientific papers without having to adjust the format of writing scientific papers. Where in this system has provided a framework for entering journal contents. Journal article creation must follow the format already in place in the organization, such as font size, edge size, and so on. Often in writing journals, writers experience difficulties or constraints in the format of writing, so they often experience errors in writing journal articles. For this reason, it is necessary to have a standard web journal writing program, which provides a framework for the format of journal writing. The process carried out in designing this application is  by looking  at  the guidelines  for  journal  manuscript  writing, with  these guidelines the writer can know how the journal format will be translated into a program script. The purpose of this research is to design a standard web program for editing documents in journals and to assist journal authors / journal authors in making scientific papers online. In this research, the writer made a document editing system for scientific journal writing format using PHP and MySQL in the application system. Where in the system designed the author only includes the entries of each input in the journal framework. In this system all the input that is filled in is stored in a database with different tables. And when the author sees the contents of the journal, the display on the journal contents automatically matches the journal template.

ABSTRAKArtikel jurnal ini akan membahasa mengenai penulisan dan publikasi artikel jurnal diberbagai laman jurnal berdasarkan gaya selingkung yang telah ditentukan. Didalam artikel jurnal ini akan dibahas juga tips bagi pemula dalam menulis sebuah artikel ilmiah. Artikel jurnal ini bertujuan agar mahasiswa dapat memperbanyak tulisan terutama pada bidang kepenulisan ilmiah. Disisi lain, agar jurnal-jurnal yang telah dituliskan oleh mahasiswa sebagai bahan pertimbangan bagi Pemerintah ataupun bagi sebuah penelitian. Artikel jurnal ini juga akan membahas ragam gaya selingkung. Data yang digunakan berupa dokumen yang dianalisis dengan menggunakan teknik deskriptif kualitatif. Oleh karena itu, adanya artikel jurnal ini membantu mahasiswa maupun masyarakat umum agar giat dalam hal kepenulisan. The objective of the study were (1) To know the process of teaching writing skill in narrative text at tenth grade of SMK PGRI 3 Kota Serang (2) To find out the result of students writing skill in narrative text by using dispersion imagination at tenth grade of SMK PGRI 3 Kota Serang. This research is used a mixed method research design, classroom action research. The result of the research were (1) the process of teaching narrative text using dispersion imagination in writing skills of two steps; pre-cycle and cycle. The result of research showed that the research in cycle 1, the writer used the move picture, the students to listen and look at the move picture in slide at the Power Point about the material. The students write narrative text from the story by using dispersion imagination. In cycle 2, the use of film is able to improve students writing skill in narrative text and develop idea to write well. While the role of teachers who are not just as facilitators, but also as a motivator and inspirator are also able to provide new supported in the learning process. There is improvement in writing skill of the students after the treatment. It can be seen from their main score of pre-test and post-test. (2) There was improvement in the pre-test main score (41.00), the first post-test mean score (45.00), and the second post-test main score (76.00). The achievement of writing in post-test is 76,00%. In conclusion, there was significant improvement of the students in writing skill in narrative text by using dispersion imagination.

The abstract has become the first part that will be read by readers in a research article. Some important aspects in the abstract are move structure and linguistic features. This study examines the rhetorical moves and linguistic features of English research article abstract written by three groups of authors in Applied Linguistics. The research design was mixed method design combining quantitative and qualitative method with the corpus of this study consisted of 60 abstracts by postgraduate students, national and international authors found in RA abstracts. The results show that the common moves by three groups of authors have only three moves (i.e purpose, method, and results). The common linguistic features used by three groups of authors are active voice, present tense, and simple sentence. By comparing the three groups of abstracts the differences are found in the postgraduate students authors. They were used move 1 (Background/ introduction/ situation) fewer than national and international authors. Furthur the postgraduate students used past tense more dominant than present tense and using hedges is more frequently than national and international authors. This study concludes that in writing RA abstracts a writer should adjust the commonly used rules the abstract especially in using 5 moves in the abstracts.

Introduction. Libraries as information institution serves users by collecting, managing and disseminating information and knowledge. One of the important is by preserving cultural heritage. This study aims to describe role of libraries in preserving cultural heritage through publication of scientific articles on the topic of cultural heritage. Data Collection Methods. The paper used a systematic literature review with a qualitative approach. Data Analysis. Several stage involved in data analysis included planning, implementinging, and synthesising the search results Results and Discussion. Findings indicate there are seven selected journal articles discussing policies as obstacles in the preservation of cultural heritage and there are five articles containing the role of libraries  focusing on physical form and public education. Conclusion. Based on the selected scientific journal articles describing the role of libraries in Indonesia in preserving cultural heritage, the topics  focuses on education for community, procurement, maintenance of physical buildings, ancient manuscripts collections and cultural themes. Furthermore,constraints and challenges faced by libraries,including policies, create an impact on human resources, budget and infrastructure.
