Teaching writing to Informatics Engineering students has its uniqueness when it comes to what specific issue(s) the students are facing and how to cope with them. This study aims at finding out some feedback for the author’s previous teaching practices in writing a descriptive text which becomes the basis to give an exact intervention as well as to find out whether the intervention is able to improve the students’ skills in writing a descriptive text. This is exploratory action research to the 30 students of the third semester in the Informatics Engineering study program of a private university in Indonesia. To gain feedback on the previous instructional practices, a senior colleague is invited as a consultant and an open-ended questionnaire was distributed to the students. Some issues were found. After a deep discussion with the senior colleague, it is concluded that project-based activities could cope with the issues. To prove it, a writing test and open-ended interview were conducted. During the instructional practices, a collaborator was invited to observe using an observation sheet. The result revealed that project-based activities engaged the students and directed them in accomplishing the task. The test also showed improvement in students’ average scores. These findings proved that implementing project-based activities can improve the students’ skills in writing a descriptive text.  Keywords: Exploratory Action Research, Reflective Feedbacks, Project-Based Activities

Writing becomes the most challenging skill for the students as it needs more time to develop and tend to raise problem to students. Therefore, project based learning is offered to solve the problems in writing. Some experts believe that project based learning (PBL) can provoke the students to get new knowledge through their own project. This research reports on the implementation of project based learning in teaching writing. The objectives of the research are to know the implementation of project based learning in elevating the students ability on writing and to know the students opinion of the implementation of project based learning in teaching writing. Qualitative was used as a research method and classroom action research as a research design. The participants of the research were fourth semester students in one university in Cimahi, West Java. The collected data were obtained through observation, writing test and interview. Then, data were analysed based on triangulation. As result, it was found that the implementation of project based learning in teaching writing worked well. It could be seen from the students responses during the implementation of this method as they gave positive opinion toward the method used; they actively involved in learning process. PBL was proved on helping the students wrote well. Besides, the project given engaged the students in solving a real problem and answering it. English subject that is learnt in Mechanical Engineering Study Program is different from English subject learnt in other programs, relating to the aspects of target situation, students’ weaknesses, students’ wishes and their needs. This research aims to find out Mechanical Engineering students’ problems in learning English, students’ needs in learning English and the process of designing syllabus of English subject. This research is case study using qualitative approach. The research participants are 40 students of Mechanical Engineering in third semester, in the academic year of 2017/2018 and two English lecturers who teach in Mechanical Engineering Study Program. The instruments to collect the data are questionnaire, interview and documentation (students’ achievement). Data moreover are reduced, displayed and then conclusions are drawn. The research results show that English subject is needed in Mechanical Engineering department. Students’ needs in learning English related with material aspects of listening, speaking, reading, writing, pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary. In addition, the materials of mechanical engineering and application letter using English are also needed. Moreover, students’ problems in learning English are students’ lack confidence in mastering English both orally and in written. Students’ weaknesses in mastering pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary make English subject difficult to learn. In addition, they do not get used to reading and writing English texts. The purpose of this study is to improve the anti-corruption behavior of students of the Informatics Engineering Study Program at the Universitas PGRI Madiun through the internalization of anti-corruption values ??with the Nampe Model. The research was Classroom Action Research. Data were collected qualitatively by using observation, tests, and non-tests, while the data analysis used descriptive statistics. Based on the research carried out for two cycles, it was found that the anti-corruption behavior of students increased after internalizing the anti-corruption values ??with the Nampe Model. This increase is shown by the assessment of anti-corruption behavior in pre-cycle at 30.4%, increased to 62.2% in cycle 1 and at 78.2% in cycle 2. The average value of all domains also increases, such as; (a) affective domain in pre-cycle at 59.1, cycle 1 at 65.5, and cycle 2 at 75.5 (b) cognitive domain in pre-cycle at 78.9, cycle 1 at 82.4, cycle 2 at 85, 4, (c) psychomotor domain in pre-cycle at 62.44, cycle 1 at 66, cycle 2 at 75.6. The increase in anti-corruption behavior is also shown by the average score of the anti-corruption component in pre-cycle at 62.4, cycle 1 at 66.4, and cycle 2 at 77.1.
