RESUMO O acesso aberto à produção em Ciência e Tecnologia vem impulsionando os debates sobre a adoção e uso de instrumentos para compartilhamento da produção científica. Este relato propõe um modelo de maturidade que trata de forma integrada os repositórios confiáveis de documentos e os repositórios de dados, formando a noção de repositório digital integrado, para posicionar a instituição em um nível de maturidade para estes instrumentos de compartilhamento da produção científica. Apresenta o estudo sobre modelos de maturidade como forma de avaliação da qualidade para repositórios. Adota o modelo CMMI como referência, relacionado os respectivos níveis. Apresenta um estudo sobre repositórios confiáveis e critérios de avaliação, finalizando a proposta com a inclusão dos princípios FAIR no processo de avaliação. Fazendo uso de uma combinação de métodos para desenvolvimento da investigação, propõe a avaliação da qualidade de repositórios do estado do Rio de Janeiro segundo o modelo elaborado. Propõe a consolidação dos resultados em um modelo de avaliação estruturado em níveis de maturidade, incluindo um método de avaliação para repositórios integrados.Palavras-chave: Modelo de Maturidade; Repositório Digital; Gestão da Qualidade; Ciência Aberta; Repositório Confiável; Princípios FAIR.ABSTRACT Open access to research outcomes and data obtained in Science and Technology production has risen debates about the adoption and use of sharing tools for those outcomes. This research proposes a maturity model that unifies trusted document repositories and data repositories to form a notion of an integrated digital repository, setting this institution on a maturity level regarding these scientific production sharing tools. It also presents studies on these maturity models as ways to evaluate the quality of those data repositories. It adopts the CMMI model as a reference, relating to its respective levels. It presents a study on trustworthy repositories and evaluation criteria and concludes with the incorporation of FAIR principles into the evaluating process. Using a combination of methods to develop its investigation, the research proposes the use of this maturity model to evaluate Rio de Janeiro state repositories. Finally, it proposes the consummation of its results using an evaluation scheme structured in maturity levels, which includes an evaluation method for integrated repositories.Keywords: Maturity Model; Digital Repository; Quality Management; Open Science; Trustworthy Repository; FAIR Principles.

Open data and data management policies that call for the long-term storage and accessibility of data are becoming more and more commonplace in the research community. With it the need for trustworthy data repositories to store and disseminate data is growing. CoreTrustSeal, a community based and non-profit organisation, offers data repositories a core level certification based on the DSA-WDS Core Trustworthy Data Repositories Requirements catalogue and procedures. This universal catalogue of requirements reflects the core characteristics of trustworthy data repositories. Core certification involves an uncomplicated process whereby data repositories supply evidence that they are sustainable and trustworthy. A repository first conducts an internal self-assessment, which is then reviewed by community peers. Once the self-assessment is found adequate the CoreTrustSeal board certifies the repository with a CoreTrustSeal. The Seal is valid for a period of three years. Being a certified repository has several external and internal benefits. It for instance improves the quality and transparency of internal processes, increases awareness of and compliance with established standards, builds stakeholder confidence, enhances the reputation of the repository, and demonstrates that the repository is following good practices. It is also offering a benchmark for comparison and helps to determine the strengths and weaknesses of a repository. In the future we foresee a larger uptake through different domains, not in the least because within the European Open Science Cloud, the FAIR principles and therefore also the certification of trustworthy digital repositories holding data is becoming increasingly important. Next to that the CoreTrustSeal requirements will most probably become a European Technical standard which can be used in procurement (under review by the European Commission).

GnpIS is a data repository for plant phenomics that stores whole field and greenhouse experimental data including environment measures. It allows long-term access to datasets following the FAIR principles: Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable, by using a flexible and original approach. It is based on a generic and ontology driven data model and an innovative software architecture that uncouples data integration, storage, and querying. It takes advantage of international standards including the Crop Ontology, MIAPPE, and the Breeding API. GnpIS allows handling data for a wide range of species and experiment types, including multiannual perennial plants experimental network or annual plant trials with either raw data, i.e., direct measures, or computed traits. It also ensures the integration and the interoperability among phenotyping datasets and with genotyping data. This is achieved through a careful curation and annotation of the key resources conducted in close collaboration with the communities providing data. Our repository follows the Open Science data publication principles by ensuring citability of each dataset. Finally, GnpIS compliance with international standards enables its interoperability with other data repositories hence allowing data links between phenotype and other data types. GnpIS can therefore contribute to emerging international federations of information systems.

Resumo: Os repositórios têm se tornado comum nas universidades e institutos de pesquisa, como forma de ofertar acesso à produção científica e, com isso, dar visibilidade à instituição. Entretanto, em muitos casos ainda estão restritos aos conceitos do movimento do arquivo aberto e acesso aberto, sendo que já se discute o Movimento da Ciência Aberta, revelando certo descompasso, requerendo estudos que apoiem a atualização dessa importante ferramenta. Nesse sentido, o presente estudo verifica os requisitos envolvidos nos movimentos abertos, de forma a apoiar a discussão técnica e tecnológica. Um estudo bibliográfico, que transforma as informações sobre os movimentos em critérios para avaliação de ferramentas para criação de repositórios, apresentando a implementação da interação como um novo desafio. Ciência aberta.SURVEY OF CRITERIA FOR EVALUATION OF REPOSITORY TOOLS ACCORDING TO OPEN SCIENCE Abstract: Repositories have become common in universities and research institutes, as a way of offering access to scientific production, thereby giving visibility to the institution. Meanwhile, in many cases, repositories are restricted to the concepts of open movement and open access considering that the Open Science Movement is already being discussed. Regarding this matter, this study verifies the requirements involved in the open movements, in order to support a technical and technological discussion.  A bibliographic study that transforms information about movements into criteria to evaluate tools used to create repositories, presenting an implementation of interaction as a new challenge. In the considerations, we contribute with a discussion about an Open Science, in a more applied way, as well as the adjustment of the repositories to this movement.Keywords: Repositories. Data papers have been defined as scholarly journal publications whose primary purpose is to describe research data. Our survey provides more insights about the environment of data papers, i.e., disciplines, publishers and business models, and about their structure, length, formats, metadata, and licensing. Data papers are a product of the emerging ecosystem of data-driven open science. They contribute to the FAIR principles for research data management. However, the boundaries with other categories of academic publishing are partly blurred. Data papers are (can be) generated automatically and are potentially machine-readable. Data papers are essentially information, i.e., description of data, but also partly contribute to the generation of knowledge and data on its own. Part of the new ecosystem of open and data-driven science, data papers and data journals are an interesting and relevant object for the assessment and understanding of the transition of the former system of academic publishing.

Recognizing and evaluating the development level of a country’s precise finishing industry, is the prerequisite to the country’s decision-making on the development planning and guiding policies in this industry. This paper presents a Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (FAHP) Model on the base of “Expert Knowledge”. This model combines the advantages of Fuzzy Evaluation Method and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), and can give relatively reliable evaluation results with incomplete information of the evaluation criteria. The application of the FAHP Model provide reliable comprehensive evaluation data.

Grids represent an emerging technology that allows geographically- and organizationally-distributed resources (e.g., computer systems, data repositories, sensors, imaging systems, and so forth) to be linked in a fashion that is transparent to the user. The New York State Grid (NYS Grid) is an integrated computational and data grid that provides access to a wide variety of resources to users from around the world. NYS Grid can be accessed via a Web portal, where the users have access to their data sets and applications, but do not need to be made aware of the details of the data storage or computational devices that are specifically employed in solving their problems. Grid-enabled versions of the SnB and BnP programs, which implement the Shake-and-Bake method of molecular structure (SnB) and substructure (BnP) determination, respectively, have been deployed on NYS Grid. Further, through the Grid Portal, SnB has been run simultaneously on all computational resources on NYS Grid as well as on more than 1100 of the over 3000 processors available through the Open Science Grid.

An evaluation method for assessing the difference in the relative humidity (RH) control performance of waterproofing material is proposed. For a demonstration of this evaluation method, two waterproofing materials (urethane coating and cementitious waterproofing material) installed with different methods (positive and negative side of concrete structure respectively) are exposed to temperature conditions representing three seasonal conditions: Summer (40 °C), spring/autumn (20 °C) and winter (4 °C). Condensation level changes on the inner side of the waterproofing material installed specimen is measured, and for derive criteria for comparison, three parameters based on the average RH, intercept RH (derived from a linear regression analysis of RH measurement), and maximum relative humidity are derived for each different waterproofing material installed specimen. Based on quality specification for underground concrete structures, the demonstration evaluation establishes provisional standard criteria of below 70% RH, and all three parameters are evaluated to determine whether the tested waterproofing material/method complies to the performance requirement. Additional analysis through linear regression and cumulative probability density graphs are derived to evaluate the RH consistency and range parameters. The evaluation regime demonstrates a quantitative RH analysis method and apparatus, and a newly designed evaluation criteria is used to compare the RH control performance of positive-side installed urethane waterproofing materials and negative-side installed cementitious waterproofing material.

Polyurethane foam (PUF), a representative insulation material, not only prevents heat conduction but can also support a load. Particular interest in rigid PUF proliferated over the past several years in fields where extreme environments are applied. A closed-cell structure which forms the interior of rigid PUF serves to maximize the utilization of these polymeric foams. Rigid PUF is more sensitive to external conditions such as temperature or restraint than other structural materials such as steel. Depending on the market trends in which utilization of a cryogenic environment is expanding, the tendency of material behavior resulting from the binding effect also needs to be investigated. However, most conventional compression test method standards applicable to rigid PUF do not adequately reflect the restraints. Therefore, this study proposes a method for evaluating the mechanical performance of materials in a more reliable manner than that of conventional tests. Experimental observation and analysis validated this compression evaluation method in which constraints are considered. Consequently, the compressive strength of rigid PUF compared to the results of the conventional test showed a difference of up to 0.47 MPa (approximately 23%) at cryogenic temperatures. This result suggests that there are important factors to consider when assessing performance from a material perspective in an environment where rigid PUF insulation is utilized. It is believed that the test methods newly proposed in this study will provide an experimental framework that can be applied to the evaluation criteria of material properties and reflected in structural design.

Abstract There is a growing expectation, or even requirement, for researchers to deposit a variety of research data in data repositories as a condition of funding or publication. This expectation recognizes the enormous benefits of data collected and created for research purposes being made available for secondary uses, as open science gains increasing support. This is particularly so in the context of big data, especially where health data is involved. There are, however, also challenges relating to the collection, storage, and re-use of research data. This paper gives a brief overview of the landscape of data sharing via data repositories and discusses some of the key ethical issues raised by the sharing of health-related research data, including expectations of privacy and confidentiality, the transparency of repository governance structures, access restrictions, as well as data ownership and the fair attribution of credit. To consider these issues and the values that are pertinent, the paper applies the deliberative balancing approach articulated in the Ethics Framework for Big Data in Health and Research (Xafis et al. 2019) to the domain of Openness in Big Data and Data Repositories.
