In learning, students often face social problems and the teacher does not try to solve the problems through the implementation of learning approach. Therefore, a learning approach that is able to develop social relationship needs to be created to make the learning more enjoyable. Learning in the setting of “teacher directed” or the one which combines the learning environment called “self-directed”. Thus, inquiry model which specifically used in this research called social inquiry is expected to be able to make the teacher know the learning problem in Civics subject and then take steps to solve it. Based on the result of the research, it was known that there was an improvement in terms of quality in the activities and learning outcomes on the fifth grade students at SDN Karangsemanding 02 Balung district, Jember regency in 2018/2019 academic year. Meanwhile, the average score of the class increased from 67 in cycle I to 74 in cycle II.

A teaching approach plays an important role in teaching and learning process of an introductory programming (IP) course. The teaching approach should focus on different programming skills required by novice programmers. In this study, we introduced the teaching and learning approach based on an ADRI (Approach, Deployment, Result, Improvement) approach in the IP course which focuses on both programming knowledge (syntax and semantics) and problem solving strategies. We compared the teaching and learning approach of the IP course with the five levels of SOLO taxonomy. We assessed the students’ performance by using different assessment tasks based on the four stages of the ADRI approach. Results show that the current teaching and learning approach of the IP course addressed all the five levels of SOLO taxonomy. The students’ performance in the Approach and Result stages (82%) are good, and the performance in the Improvement (71%) and Deployment (69%) stages are satisfactory. Overall, the ADRI approach provides positive impact on the teaching and learning process of the IP course.

Objective: The study aimed to examine if an active learning approach used in a pharmaceutical science laboratory would enhance pharmacy students’ learning of foundation pharmaceutical science knowledge when conducting an experiment. Method: A pre-post-test study design was used to collect data from third-year undergraduate pharmacy students with two approaches to performing an experiment (active learning, and traditional). Results: Assessment data from 95 students (73% response rate) were analysed quantitatively and qualitatively. The active learning approach to performing an experiment resulted in significantly higher (p<0.001) scores compared to the traditional approach for knowledge about the variables to be measured (3.82 versus 2.72 for active and traditional, respectively) and measurement method (3.31 versus 2.85 for active and traditional, respectively). A thematic analysis identified ‘planning’ as unique to the post-test responses for the active learning session. Conclusion: The authors concluded that the laboratory session featuring active learning had a greater impact on student learning than the traditional experiment method.

Innovation in a learning is an important factor in determining the success of the learning process of learners. Therefore, teachers should be able to choose and determine either a strategy, method or even a learning approach in accordance with learning materials and learning objectives. The use of methods or appropriate learning techniques on a learning material will support the effectiveness of the process in it. The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of brainstorming techniques on student physics learning outcomes on learning material form Substance. This research is a quantitative research. Technique of collecting data (was) using test. Moreover, research hypothesis was tested using t-test formula. Based on the results of data analysis obtained, the average score on the experimental class is 81.66 while that on control class is 71.00. Hypothesis testing which obtains tcount = 4,595 with price t table = 2,000, indicates that the price of t arithmetic is not in the acceptance area of H0. H0 is rejected because the acceptance area is between - ttable = - 2,000 to ttable = 2,000 for 60 of degree of freedom with significance level 5%. Therefore, Ha is accepted. It means that there is significant impact of brainstorming toward students achievement on learning state of matter.
