Although studies have shown cue-based feeding can lead to earlier achievement of full oral feeding, the successful implementation of cue-based feeding has been constrained by the volume-driven culture, which has existed for many years in the NICU. This culture was built on the notion that a “better” nurse is one who could “get more in,” and infants who are “poor feeders” are ones who “can’t take enough.” The infant who feeds faster is often viewed as more skilled in this task-oriented approach.The feeding relationship and the infant’s communication about the experience of feeding may not be nurtured. This article will explain the central role of the preterm infant’s communication in successful cue-based feeding. When the infant is perceived as having meaningful behavior (i.e., communicative intent), the focus changes from a volume-driven to a co-regulated approach, through which the infant guides the caregiver. This is cue-based feeding.

E-governance is a paradigm shift over the traditional approaches in Public Administration which means rendering of government services and information to the public by using electronic means. In the past decades, service quality and responsiveness of the government towards the citizens were least important but with the approach of E-Government the government activities are now well dealt. This paper withdraws experiences from various studies from different countries and projects facing similar challenges which need to be consigned for the successful implementation of e-governance projects. Developing countries like India face poverty and illiteracy as a major obstacle in any form of development which makes it difficult for its government to provide e-services to its people conveniently and fast. It also suggests few suggestions to cope up with the challenges faced while implementing e-projects in India.

The aim was to evaluate the role of insulin and insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) in activation of muscle protein synthesis after oral feeding. Synthesis rate of globular and myofibrillar proteins in muscle tissue was quantified by a flooding dose of radioactive phenylalanine. Muscle tissue expression of IGF-I mRNA was measured. Normal (C57 Bl) and diabetic mice (type I and type II) were subjected to an overnight fast (18 h) with subsequent refeeding procedures for 3 h with either oral chow intake or provision of insulin, IGF-I, glucose, and amino acids. Anti-insulin and anti-IGF-I were provided intraperitoneally before oral refeeding in some experiments. An overnight fast reduced synthesis of both globular (38 +/- 3%) and myofibrillar proteins (54 +/- 3%) in skeletal muscles, which was reversed by oral refeeding. Muscle protein synthesis, after starvation/ refeeding, was proportional and similar to changes in skeletal muscle IGF-I mRNA expression. Diabetic mice responded quantitatively similarly to starvation/refeeding in muscle protein synthesis compared with normal mice (C57 Bl). Both anti-insulin and anti-IGF-I attenuated significantly the stimulation of muscle protein synthesis in response to oral feeding, whereas exogenous provision of either insulin or IGF-I to overnight-starved and freely fed mice did not clearly stimulate protein synthesis in skeletal muscles. Our results support the suggestion that insulin and IGF-I either induce or facilitate the protein synthesis machinery in skeletal muscles rather than exerting a true stimulation of the biosynthetic process during feeding.

: Ionic Liquids (ILs) in their neoteric form have emerged to be a potential ‘green’ alternative of traditional Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) as solvents in different fields of industries and academia. Recent investigations on the development of multi-faceted applications of ionic liquids have revealed that they really stand for “environmentally-benign” solvents as far as their impact on the ecology is concerned. This caused them to be an exciting and lucrative subject to explore more and more, and many research groups are involved in the manifestation of their inherent undisclosed legacy. Recently, there has been a huge jump in search of an alternative to conventional metal catalysts in academia as well as in industries due to their pollution-evoking roles. Scientists have explored multiple numbers of homogeneous or heterogeneous mixtures of catalysts incorporating ionic liquids to reduce the extent of contamination in our global environment produced due to catalytic synthesis and chemical transformations. In this review, we have put our concentration on some beneficial and recently explored aspects of the successful implementation of Ionic Liquids in different forms in several fields of catalysis as a ‘green’ alternative catalyst/co-catalyst/solvent for catalysis to replace or minimize the lone and hazardous use of metal and metallic compounds as catalysts as well as chemicals like mineral acids or VOCs as solvents. Here, our study focuses on the inevitable role of ILs in several catalytic reactions like cycloaddition of CO2, electrolytic reduction of CO2, biocatalytic or enzymatic reactions, some of the important organic conversions, and biomass to biofuel conversion as catalysts, cocatalysts, catalyst activator, and solvents.

Swallowing is a critical function for survival and development in human neonates, and requires cross-system coordination between neurologic, airway, and digestive motility systems. Development of pharyngo-esophageal motility is influenced by intra- and extra-uterine development, pregnancy complications, and neonatal comorbidities. Primary role of these motility reflex mechanisms is to maintain aerodigestive homeostasis under basal and adaptive biologic conditions including oral feeding, gastroesophageal reflux, and sleep. Failure may result in feeding difficulties, airway compromise, dysphagia, aspiration syndromes, and chronic eating difficulties requiring prolonged tube feeding. We review the integration of cross-systems physiology to describe the basis for physiologic and pathophysiologic neonatal aerodigestive functions.

The implementation of the comprehensive national defense system in Latvia marks a new turning point in the relationship between the state and society – instead of being consumers of the security and defense provided by the state, every inhabitant of Latvia must become an active contributor to the natio-nal defense system. Thus, the society’s willingness to defend the state becomes an essential element in the successful implementation of the comprehensive state defense system. This article analyzes the different views of Latvian and Russian-speaking population on issues that affect the willingness to defend the state, as well as evaluates the role of intercultural communication for informing public and increasing the involvement in the comprehensive national defense system.

The Impact

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to report on an independent evaluation of a three-year “Creative Ageing” programme, focussing on the impacts for participants and factors promoting successful delivery of sessions. Design/methodology/approach Artists provided feedback through reflective journals and questionnaires, while the views of care staff and participants were also captured in a standard format at the end of each arts session. Thematic analysis of the qualitative data identified common themes. Findings Twenty-three arts projects were delivered across a range of settings and through diverse art forms including dance, drama, music, visual arts and poetry. They reached nearly 2,200 participants who recorded over 8,100 session attendances in total. Participation in high quality creative experiences improved well-being for older people, as well as increasing social interaction and reducing isolation. Several factors facilitated successful implementation and delivery of the activities, particularly the need to hold planning meetings with staff to provide guidance around participant numbers and suitability, minimising disruption of the sessions and the supportive role of staff during the sessions. Opportunities for reflection enabled artists to address potential challenges and adapt their practice to meet the needs and preferences of participants and to the complexities of diverse settings. Originality/value Previous research has largely focussed on the impact of activities in a single setting. This study supports the role of creative arts in increasing social interaction as an attempt to tackle isolation and loneliness, both for older people living in the community and for those living in a communal setting such as care homes and supported living schemes.

The relevance of smartphones and mobile apps has increased significantly in recent years. Increasingly, companies are trying to use mobile apps for their business purposes. Accordingly, the role of app marketing has become more important. Nevertheless, there is no uniform understanding of the term "app marketing". Based on scientific and gray literature, two definitions of "app marketing" are developed. In the narrower sense, app marketing refers to measures aimed at making a mobile app better known and acquiring users i. e. generating app downloads. In the broader sense, app marketing refers to all activities that are used to acquire users for a mobile app, contact them, and encourage them to reach a specified goal. Additionally, based on job ads, an overview of activities in app marketing is provided from a practical point of view. Here, the focus is primarily on paid app install campaigns as well as on monitoring, reporting and analytics.
