Skin and submental glands of Papuan frogs have antibacterial compounds‘ which were capable to impede growth of tested bacteria based on diffusion method. These frogs were Platymantis papuensis, Litoria infrafrenata, Bufo melanostictus, Rana grisea and Rana sp., and the tested bacterial were the positive Gram bacteria (Staphylococcus aereus, and Bacillus subtilis) and the negative Gram bacteria (Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeroginosa). Skin frog which extracted with hot water (100oC) showed antibacterial activity which significantly impeded the growth of tested bacteria using diffusion method.

Some novel N-phenylpyrazolines were synthesized and investigated for their antibacterial activitiy. Chalcones 2-4 which were prepared from acetophenone and veratraldehyde derivatives were reacted with phenylhydrazine to give N-phenylpyrazolines 5-7. All of the synthesized compounds were characterized using FTIR, GC-MS, and NMR spectrometers. Further, antibacterial activity of N-phenylpyrazolines were evaluated by agar well-diffusion method against Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus cereus, Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli, and Shigella flexneri. The highest activity (highest inhibition zone) of compound 5 was 2.6 mm (at 1000 ppm) against B. subtillis, compound 6 was 7.25 mm (at 1000 ppm) against S. aureus, and compound 7 was 6.75 mm (at 500 ppm) against S. aureus. The results indicated that compound 6 and 7 exhibited promising antibacterial activity.

This study aimed to determine the effect of concentration ethanol extract from tembelakan leaf (Lantana camara Linn)  on bacteria growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. Extraction was done by maceration using ethanol 96% and then separated using rotary evaporator. Antibacterial activity test of the ethanol extract by Well agar diffusion method. Variation in crude extract saponin used in this study was 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25% and positive controls were used for comparison with Amoxicilin and Chloramphenicole concentration of 25 µg/mL and DMSO as a negative control. The results of antibacterial activity test is indicated by the formation of growth inhibitory region S. aureus and E. coli. The result of growth inhibitory regions was analyzed by One way ANOVA. One way ANOVA test results indicate that there are effects of ethanol extract concentration of tembelekan leaf (L. camara Linn) against S. aureus and E. coli. Effective concentration of ethanol extract tembelekan leaf (L. camara Linn) when compared with positive control to inhibit the growth of S. aureus and E. coli is at 25% with a relatively strong antibacterial activity. Test with phytochemicals screening method which is showed that tembelekan leaf contains the flavanoid, saponins, and tannins compounds as antibacterial

A research about antibacterial activity test of johar plant leaf extract (Cassia siamea Lamk.) using several levels of solvent polarity has been implemented. This study aims to determine whether the antibacterial compounds in the leaves is polar, non-polar or semi-polar, and to determine the highest inhibition level of johar leaf extract on both the gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli and Shigella dysenteriae) and gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus and Micrococcus luteus). The maceration method was used in this research with 3 levels of solvent polarity namely non-polar, semi-polar and polar. The bacterial activity test was done with diffusion method. The results showed that the johar leaf contains antibacterial compounds which are polar and semi-polar. The highest inhibition level was obtained at johar leaf ethanol extract for Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Micrococcus luteu and Shigella dysentriae of 14.9, 12.9, 12, and 7.2 mm, respectively. Keywords: Antibacterial, Inhibition Level, Johar Leaf Extract

The work is concerned with the antibacterial effect of ethanolic solutions of cis- and trans-resveralrol (cis-.lrans-3,5.4'-trihydroxystilbene) obtained by the extraction (ethanol-water 1:1 v/v) of Polygonum cuspidatum rhizome. Antibacterial activity was tested by disk diffusion method on the following bacteria: Escherichia coli, Sarcina liitea. Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcits sp., using extract concentrations of 5 mg/disk. All tests showed significant antimicrobial activity, whereby the extract with trans-resveratrol exhibited more significant effect than the extract of cis-resveratrol.

Kata kunci : nudibranch, Jorunna funebris, antibakteri, multi-drug resistant, 1-oktadekanol Emergence of antibiotic resistance become a problems on medical world. Increasing pathogen ability to hold the antibiotic effect caused resistance. Several human-patogen bacteria were resistance to one or more classes of antibiotics. To solve those problems, it is necessary to search new antibiotic compounds that more effective to solve the problem of Multi-drug Resistant (MDR). The secondary metabolite produced by marine invertebrates have prospect as a marine biomedical. Nudibranch may produce the secondary metabolite as chemical defense mechanism. The purpose of the research was to obtain fraction from extract nudibranch Jorunna funebris that capable of bioactivity for Multi-drug Resistant (MDR) bacteria. Extraction process was conducted with maceration method. Crude extracts were fractionated by Open Column Chromatography. Antibacterial activity test was done using disk diffusion method. Chemical compounds were analyzed with GC-MS. The result showed that 8 fractions of nudibranch J. funebris extract showed antibacterial activity.
