In current research on the subject, three dominant functions of advertising can be pointed out. These are: to inform, to persuade or to remind a recipient about the product. However, watching modern commercials in the media evokes a question about this typology being sufficient enough to cover the full spectrum of the commercial industry. The main goal of the article is to test the attitudes towards commercials in students in their junior year of the Journalism and Social Communication degree at the University of Łodź. This probe is exceptionally valuable, since many of these people in years to come will become involved in creating this type of broadcast by graduating with a “Advertising, Design and Visual Communication” major at our university. The experiment has been divided into three tiers, showing different types of TV spots in two of them. Doing this has enabled us to answer the question if watching these types of broadcasts can influence the attitude towards commercials and its functions on viewers.

Our goal was to investigate the physical accessibility on campus in Belém, through the eyes of disabled Students. The qualitative research was conducted by interviews with Students with different types of disabilities who were attending different degrees programs, in order to observe the diversity of perceptions about the use of the space, in a theoretical approach anchored on Goffman (1988), Pinto and Buffa (2009) and Diniz (2012). As a result we noticed that for Students, physical accessibility is not a steady and universal concept, but a concept built in the subject-environment relationship and that the current improvements of access to UFPA's physical space have indicated progress to the academic life but still need to be expanded. For Students, it is necessary to promote research about physical accessibility at the university because the campus is considered by scholars as the best knowledge socialization space, although there are access barriers to its physical structure. Keywords: Physical accessibility. This article is devoted to the study of the discursive structures of political texts published on Twitter of the President of the United States. The material of the study was the statements of Donald Trump and Joe Biden during the period from November 1, 2019 to August 31, 2021. Its multimillion audience of subscribers makes Twitter a powerful political tool with the ability to influence public opinion. The purpose of this article is to identify the discursive structures arising in political communication as a result of the actualization of the category of discursive heterogeneity, which includes elements of interdiscursiveness and polydiscursiveness. The authors use various methods: descriptive, contextual analysis, comparative, methods of observation, content analysis and discourse analysis. Using the linguistic concept of the American scientist D. Himes S-P-E-A-K-I-N-G, the analysis of the situation components Setting and scene, Participants, Ends, Act Sequence, Key, Instrumentalities, Norms, Genre is carried out. Being a part of the media discourse and demonstrating the features of the Internet genre, the written messages of politicians are laconic, expressive, and tend to economize on linguistic means. The same communicants, depending on the context of utterances, become participants in different types of discourses. The study analyzes the foreign and domestic political discourses, the security discourse, as well as a number of accompanying special discourses that constitute political communication. The choice of the subject matter of the messages is due to the high degree of importance of issues of foreign and domestic policy, as well as stability and security.

[ACCESS RESTRICTED TO THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI AT REQUEST OF AUTHOR.] Folklore and science, along with the subject of the future which has slowly over time worked its way into the discourses of both, have a long, complicated history together. One that lives on in the present. (And one that might even prevail into the time to come). This work is not entirely that story. But it is a part of it, presented here as it is in the interest of opening new channels of discourse between two areas of research that are often seen by participants on all sides to be rather divergent, if not entirely oppositional to one another. This exploration culminates in a consideration of the contemporary status of popular science trends and how folklore might continue to operate within them--a proposal which identifies an increasingly emergent (although certainly not exclusively novel) form of folk expression that arises out of the friction caused by queries of scientific "truth," "promise," and "possibility" that is still stuck in a liminal wait for "the future." Both a widespread present-day phenomenon and subsequent set of narratives, expressions, beliefs, and actions that this work has chosen to call "science frictions."

The reduction in evaporative surfaces in cities is one driver for longer and hotter summers. Greening building surfaces can help to mitigate the loss of vegetated cover. Typical extensive green roof structures, such as sedum-based solutions, survive in dry periods, but how can green roofs be made to be more effective for the longer hot and dry periods to come? The research findings are based on continuous vegetation analytics of typical extensive green roofs over the past 20 years. -Survival of longer dry periods by fully adapted plants species with a focus on the fittest and best adapted species. -Additional technical and treatment solutions to support greater water storage in the media in dry periods and to support greater plant biomass/high biodiversity on the roofs by optimizing growing media with fertilizer to achieve higher evapotranspiration (short: ET) values. The main findings of this research: -The climate benefits of green roofs are associated with the quantity of phytomass. Selecting the right growing media is critical. -Typical extensive green roof substrates have poor nutrition levels. Fertilizer can significantly boost the ecological effects on CO2 fixation. -If the goal of the green roof is a highly biodiverse green roof, micro-structures are the right solution.

Nowadays energy conserving has become one of the most important approaches that concern governments, companies, universities, and even individuals. This rising concern is coming from the fact that the world currently suffers from rising fuel costs. This requires us humans and especially engineers to come up with solutions in which we can either find a way to reduce fuel costs, such as finding a replacement to provide us with the needed energy, or we can optimize the usage of the energy and fuels we have right now. This paper focuses on the second approach, in which we are trying to make lighting as energy-efficient as possible. This requires us to optimize lighting systems by using modern and energy-efficient technologies. Lighting systems being the subject of this paper comes as one of the best systems to apply solutions in which we reduce the energy consumption while keeping the performance as good as it is, if not better. And this is because lighting systems exist everywhere, offices, houses, companies, schools and universities, which make the benefits coming from the system we are proposing being folded multiple times, thus the effect will be way larger than any ordinary approach that targets system not as spread as lighting systems. In our proposed technique, we are applying lighting control system, which controls the intensity of lights in a class room. The results were as expected, applying such technology in a university for example will make the university a lot more energy-efficient than it is currently, in addition the university will witness a large cost reduction in terms of bills, and also will have a more advanced and healthier environment.

Abstract The objective of this work was to inquire about the degree of environmental culture of a group of students entering the National University of Luján and it consisted of a written, individual and anonymous survey carried out on 623 students. The survey had four sections aimed at evaluating personal characteristics, knowledge of general environmental issues, daily habits that could contribute to a worsening of the environmental situation, and behavioral intentions regarding environmental care. Among the main results of this study, a low level of environmental culture of the analyzed students stands out, but a great interest in participating in trainings related to the care of the natural environment that could be given in the field of the university they attend. Given these results and the current serious environmental situation, it is necessary for students to deepen their knowledge on the subject in order to achieve a degree of environmental awareness that allows them to commit to sustainable development. In order to achieve these objectives, it would be necessary to design and implement environmental education actions not only in universities, but also in previous educational levels and in different cultural settings, in which the State, the community and the media should play a prominent role.
