Introduction: Patient services at the hospital cannot be separated from the role of the nurse. Therefore, nurses must work professionally to provide better nursing care. There are several factors that can affect the performance of the nurses, one of which is job satisfaction. The purpose of a systematic review is to understand the factors that influence the job satisfaction of nurses in hospitals.Methods: For a systematic review, the search was focused on the PubMed, Science Direct and Scopus database literature with the keywords ‘job satisfaction’ and ‘nurses’. The search identified 15 relevant research articles from the 10,530 original articles that were full texts published between 2015 and 2018.Results: The results showed that the job satisfaction of the nurses was influenced by their leadership, work environment, career path, the relationship with their co-workers, salary, the relationship between the organizations, appreciation, communication, opportunity, organizational commitment, work schedule, work stress, empowerment and work rotation. The results also indicated that high job satisfaction leads to lowering nurse retention and burnout, in addition to an improved quality of patient care.Conclusion: The nurse’s job satisfaction needs to get serious attention from hospital management because it plays an important role in improving the health care service quality in the hospital.

Objective - The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between compensation and work environment on performance through job satisfaction. Methodology/Technique - The population in this study is 150 employees from a State-Owned Bank. The sampling method uses census techniques so that the number of samples used is 150 employees. The research data was collected using a questionnaire, which is then analyzed using a path analysis technique (SPSS software) to examine the relationships among the constructs, which are: compensation, work environment, job satisfaction and performance. Findings –The results of this study indicate that compensation has a significant relationship between job satisfaction, and the work environment has a significant relationship on job satisfaction. The results also prove that compensation has no relationship on performance, work environment has a significant relationship on performance, and job satisfaction has a significant relationship on performance. The results of this study also indicate that as an indirect effect, compensation has a significant relationship on performance through job satisfaction and the work environment has a significant relationship on performance through job satisfaction. Novelty - Previous studies have been carried out in many western countries, raising doubts about generalizations in the same research results in developing countries such as Indonesia. Therefore, the novelty in this study is carried out in the context of developing countries, especially in State-Owned Banks in West Kalimantan, Indonesia. Type of Paper: Empirical. PurposeThe purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between work–life balance (WLB) and job stress, job commitment and job satisfaction. Further, the role of work environment and training and development as moderators in the relationship between WLB and its consequences is investigated.Design/methodology/approachUsing a structured survey instrument, this paper gathered data from 331 respondents working in a transportation company in southern part of India. After checking the psychometric properties of the structured survey instrument, the authors analyzed data using hierarchical regression and structural equation modeling.FindingsThe hierarchical regression results indicated that WLB is (1) negatively related to job stress, (2) positively related to job satisfaction and (3) positively related to job commitment. The results also indicated that (1) job stress is negatively related to job satisfaction, and (2) job commitment is positively related to job satisfaction. The results also support that work environment is a moderator in the relationship between (1) WLB and job stress, and (2) WLB and job satisfaction. Results also documented that training and development is a moderator in the relationship between (1) job stress and job satisfaction, and (2) job commitment and job satisfaction.Research limitations/implicationsSince the present research is based on self-report measures, the limitations of common method bias and social desirability are inherent. However, the authors have taken sufficient care to minimize these limitations. The research has implications for managers in work organizations.Practical implicationsThis study contributes to both literature on human resource management and practicing managers. The study suggests that employers need to be aware of the importance of WLB and invest moneys into training and development programs. Results also suggest maintaining congenial work environment to help employees maintain balance between work and life.Social implicationsThe study is expected to contribute to the welfare of the society in terms of identifying the consequences of WLB.Originality/valueThis study provides new insights about the consequences of WLB through moderating role of training and development and work environment. To the authors’ knowledge, this is a conceptual model developed and tested and first of its kind in India.

Emotional intelligence (EI) is possibly one of the most studied psychological factors of the twenty-first century. EI is very much relevant in service industry particularly in management, academics, life sciences or psychology. The purpose of the empirical study is to test the relationship between the defined constructs of EI and job satisfaction ( JS) amongst health care professionals of Delhi NCR region of India. It further tried to understand whether gender moderates the EI and JS relationship. Structured survey was used to solicit response from 260 health care professionals comprising doctors and nurses belonging to different hospitals of Delhi NCR region. Standardised instruments were used to assess the data. Linear and moderated regression were used to test hypotheses developed. The findings suggest that EI constructs significantly impact the level of JS among health care professionals. The result of moderated regression suggested that the relationship of EI and JS is significantly moderated by gender. The construct of EI is relevant in providing high quality health care service delivery to the patients.

Employee turnover is an expensive cost in the management of any venture. The objective of this paper is to examine the relationship between factors of job satisfaction to employee intention to leave at Arion Swiss Belhotel in Jakarta and Bandung. The survey was conducted to 240 employees in nine departments in both hotels, using a questionnaire adapting JDI. Findings indicated that the highest influencing factors affecting employees’ turnover was the work environment, followed by pay, and opportunity for job promotion. There is no difference between employees in both hotels in their perception towards each of the variables; as well there is no difference between layers of management. The overall finding results can be used for the hotels to set the guidelines to improve the employees’ job satisfaction and reducing the turnover rate.

This study aimed to find out how the mediating role of job satisfaction in the relationship between compensation and work environment on performance. The results also show that compensation has a significant effect on performance through job satisfaction and work environment has a significant effect on performance through job satisfaction. ABSTRACT Objective: To verify the relationship between authentic leadership of nurses and structural empowerment. Method: This is a systematic review carried out at the Virtual Health Library on the Journal Portal of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel, Online System for the Search and Analysis of Medical Literature, Scientific Electronic Library Online and Science Direct/Embase, and consulted until April 2019. Studies with nurses, evidencing the relationship between authentic leadership and structural empowerment, published between 2012 and 2018 in Brazilian Portuguese, English or Spanish were included. Results: Five studies were included, with variables other than structural empowerment: job satisfaction, burnout, bulling, mental health, performance, social capital, working environment, nurse retention, and quality of care. Authentic leadership showed a positive relationship with structural empowerment, improving engagement and job satisfaction, reducing burnout and increasing quality of care. Conclusion: Health institutions, in addition to Canada, where researchers on this topic are located, can invest in authentic leadership to improve structural empowerment by providing greater commitment from nurses, increased job satisfaction and quality of care provided.

PurposeTaking an evidence from social exchange theory, this research examines the mediating role of affective commitment in the correlation between internal branding, employee engagement and job satisfaction. The moderating role of work environment on the link between internal branding and affective commitment is also studied in this research.Design/methodology/approachThe data were collected by using well-structured research measures from 215 employees working in the BPO sector of India (Punjab and Chandigarh). The hypotheses were developed, and the conceptual model was validated by applying structural equation modeling. The data were analyzed by using two statistical packages, namely SPSS and AMOS.FindingsThe findings suggest that internal branding has a significant positive relationship with employee engagement, job satisfaction and affective commitment. The mediating effect of affective commitment on the relationship between internal branding and employee engagement was full, whereas on the relationship between internal branding and job satisfaction, it was partial. Work environment also moderated the relationship of internal branding with affective commitment.Research limitations/implicationsThe current study offers significant lessons to management thinkers, human resource (HR), organizational branding and marketing manager. However, BPO sector should be aware about the critical role played by internal branding to enhance affective commitment, employee engagement and job satisfaction of the employees. The role of affective commitment is also taken into account to study the effect of internal branding on employee engagement and employee's job satisfaction. For itself, internal branding cannot be considered as in isolation and is doubtful to be efficacious if the work environment is not encouraging to an employee as well as to the brand values.Practical implicationsThis study offers significant lessons to management thinkers, HR, organizational branding and marketing manager. However, BPO sector should be aware about the critical role played by internal branding to enhance employee engagement, job satisfaction and affective commitment of the employees. Abstract. This study investigated the mediating role of coping humor in the relationship between emotional intelligence (EI) and job satisfaction. Participants were 398 primary school teachers in China, who completed the Wong Law Emotional Intelligence Scale, Coping Humor Scale, and Overall Job Satisfaction Scale. Results showed that coping humor was a significant mediator between EI and job satisfaction. A further examination revealed, however, that coping humor only mediated two sub-dimensions of EI (use of emotion and regulation of emotion) and job satisfaction. Implications for future research and limitations of the study are discussed.

The rise of e-commerce has brought considerable changes to the relationship between firms and consumers, especially within international business. Hence, understanding the use of such means for entering foreign markets has become critical for companies. However, the research on this issue is new and so it is important to evaluate what has been studied in the past. In this study, we conduct a systematic review of e-commerce and internationalisation studies to explicate how firms use e-commerce to enter new markets and to export. The studies are classified by theories and methods used in the literature. Moreover, we draw upon the internationalisation decision process (antecedents-modalities-consequences) to propose an integrative framework for understanding the role of e-commerce in internationalisation
