In the present article, the function of colors in Beyghami DarabNameh has been investigated by descriptive-analytical method. The most frequent colors in this prose work are black and red; the main reason for this frequency is the epic content and the occurrence of successive wars. A common function seen in all colors is the descriptive aspect. In addition, the description of the biological and psychological conditions of the characters, the induction of inner emotions and objectification of abstract concepts has been done with the help of colors. In general, the colors used in DarabNameh are non-symbolic, explicit and direct, and lack multiple layers of meaning, which indicates the realistic and objectivist attitude of the author. The most important weakness of Beyghami in the field of storytelling, which is revealed by analyzing the pragmatics of colors, is the imbalance in its application in the narrative process.

Abstract: The present article sought to offer a semiotic analysis of Pinter’s The Caretaker’s characters as signifers in their own right. The article also aimed at studying the play’s dramatis personae as loci of multi-coded expressions, with a focus on the various modes of signifcation associated with them. Using semiotics as an analytical method, the author explored the linguistic and paralinguistic features of the characters’ discourses as signs in relation to the play’s pivotal themes, their kinesic and body expressions as indexical signs, as well as their distinctive proxemic behavior(s) onstage. Some attention was also given to the characters’ handling of stage props and the special meanings attached to them as replicators of character personality. The results of the discussion showed that using a semiotic approach to analyze The Caretaker’s characters can yield positive outcomes in terms of comprehensive analysis and interpretation of the characters as dynamic unities of interrelated sign-systems. Keywords: Pinter, semiotics, dramatis personae, linguistic, kinesic, proxemic

The use of omissions by Emily Dickinson is one of the major characteristics of her poetry. She tried to reach maximum ellipsis and achieve the tightest structural compression. The unique feature in her use of omission is that most of the unsaid information in her poems is portrayed with the help of dashes. They indicate a missing word, phrase, emphasize a break, or they depict a sudden change in thought. Throughout the author's writing, the imagery and metaphors are drawn from her observations of nature and imagination. Emily’s use of specific words resulted in one - inability of comprehending her poetry with just one reading. The present article focuses on the examination of the omitted words in Emily Dickinson’s poetry. The analysis shows that she refined and removed inessential language and punctuation from her poetry. In many of her poems, abstract concepts and material things are used to describe one another, but the relationship between them remains elusive and uncertain.

This article discusses how the author describes Sawsan's body and clothing and whether Sawsan is controlled by a system of hegemonic masculinity and male gaze. This study uses descriptive-analytical method to get a detailed description or description of the main character in Khaled Khalifa’s novel No Knives in the Kitchens of this City as the object of the study. The data in this study are all corpuses related to the main character collected by marking, rewriting, and grouping according to the research questions raised. All data collected ware analyzed qualitatively with relevant concepts and approaches. The study indicates that the main character, Sawsan, was a woman who opposes and even destroys the rules and customs of her family and is dubbed as irrepressible. In addition, this study also shows that Sawsan looked an independent and uncontrolled woman; though her body and clothing remain under control of a system that occupied her perception of herself as a woman. Based on the data analysis it can be concluded that Sawsan is dominated by male perceptions including hegemonic masculinity and man's gaze towards her body that influenced her psychological conditions such as being proud, confident, and insulted.

The present article attempts to provide grounds for the idea that a literary text is first and foremost a means of establishing communicative links between the reader and the author. All linguistic units used in the text by the author are interconnected by a common function, i.e. promoting the awareness of the reader which, in its turn, contributes to the comprehensive perception of the given text.

Emic and etic are the terms taken from linguistics, but they have become widespread in other fields of humanities, especially anthropology. According to the most general definition, emic approach implies studying behaviours in culture according to its internal categories, whereas etic approach uses external, objective points of reference for this purpose. From the time the concept was created in the 1950s, numerous researchers from different fields have tried to adapt and redefine these two terms so as to use them in their work. The present article attempts to apply both emic and etic approaches within one coherent analytical method. It presents its theoretical fundamentals and proposes a list of six elements that an emic-etic analysis should include. The article focuses on the use of the concept of emics and etics in the theory of music, but the suggested method may also be used for an analysis of other types of culture texts such as music pieces, literary texts, and even fine arts works. The example used in the article is the emic-etic analysis of Letters about music by Michał Kleofas Ogiński, which has shown that the method seems fruitful from the perspective of an analyser, yet it is flawed in terms of objectivity. Therefore, the author does not recommend it as a main method for academic research, but he suggests it could be an auxiliary method and a new tool for the education of school and university-level students. The present article is a shortened version of the BA thesis entitled Emic-Etic Analysis Exemplified On M. K. Ogiński’s “Lettres sur la musique”, defended at the Department of Composition and Theory of Music, The Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, in June 2021.

This paper presents further results in addressing this issue and builds upon the results obtained within the project GACR No. 101/07/0751 (research was supported by Czech Grant Agency), and the findings and information obtained from grant project GACR No. 101/05/2562. The problems are oriented to the production and sharpening of rotary tools, especially because all the know-how is owned by foreign companies. The main chapter is devoted to "Solution of the dependance of undercutting of the helical grooves on the grinding wheel diameter, its thickness and depth of the cut" at zero thickness of the grinding wheel. This method is an original analytical method for calculating the undercutting and is a part of the theoretical studies of the grinding helix slot. Then follows a passage, which defines the actual width of the spiral groove profiles at various grinding wheels. The present article summarizes only part of a broad range of problems in the area.

The relevance of the present article is related to the urgent problem in Humanities (cultural studies, philology and sociology): characterization of anti-utopia that emerged in the ХХ and the XXI centuries, and its various national modifications. The purpose of the article is to define typical features of the anti-utopia in the Scandinavian novel Kallocain written by a Swedish writer Karin Boye and draw some parallels with Yevgeny Zamyatin’s novel We. The article proves the following thesis: the majority of the specific characteristics of anti-utopia are based on the category of the chronotope. The basic methods of the research were descriptive analytical method, comparative typological method, summarization, cultural-historical method, motive analysis, and content analysis of the text. The model of state-building is implemented in the artistic space of both novels. This model is presented as an ideal one; however, a closer look shows that it is the model of the totalitarian system of government: the states are isolated from the surrounding world which is presented in the novels as alien and hostile. Order, stability, and equality prevailing in the World Empire (Boye) and the United State (Zamyatin) are pushed to their grotesque limits and lead to the universal equalization of the citizens, and the governmental control of all the aspects of human life, including the intimate sphere.
