As newbie programmers, university students are not accustomed to computer coding. It difficult to solve programming problems especially related to physics phenomena. They need strategic thinking ability to solve problems. Therefore, computational physics subject/lesson applies learning of Scratch for Arduino on block programming in order to enhance students' strategic thinking. This attempt is examined by a study using a quasi-experimental method pre-experimental design approach which is one group pretest-posttest design using third-year physics education students 2018/2019 as the sample. The result shows that students happened to increase their strategic thinking up to 11.7%, particularly on the ability to prove the chosen solution it is appropriate to students' problems in finishing projects categorized as “very good.” It enables them to finish simple physics cases by using Arduino programming and improve their coding ability significantly.

The effectiveness of a peer-mentoring program was examined at a university in California. Previous studies suggest university peer mentoring might increase students' feelings of engagement, which can contribute to their retention. Pretest and posttest data were collected from 304 freshmen (mentored and nonmentored) during the fall of 2012 in a quasi-experimental design. Results indicated mentored students felt significantly more integrated and connected to their university at the end of their first semester compared with nonmentored students. Mentees also provided qualitative responses about what they found beneficial and what they felt could be improved in the program. Results suggested peer mentoring helped the students feel more integrated and supported at college, which might reinforce their persistence toward graduating.

Today many schools are based on Islam that is quality oriented. One guarantee of the quality their graduates in guardian students is the ability to read al-Quran well in every child. However, the current phenomenon is a lack of improvement in learning it especially in reading  al-Quran in several schools. The UMMI method helps institutions and teachers improve the ability to process Qur'anic learning that is effective, easy, fun and touching. This study uses a quasi-experimental method, using the quasi experimental design; the instruments used are observation, interviews, direct tests and documentation. The research was carried out in MIPA VIIIT class VII of Anni'mah Margahayu as the experimental class and class VII A of Muhammadiyah Margahayu as a control class with UMMI teacher subjects and 25 students in each class.  Based on the results of the analysis of the Paired Test T-test samples in the experimental class that were treated with learning using the UMMI method, it is known that the sig value. (2-tailed) of 0,000 <0,05. Because the sig value. (2-tailed) 0,000 smaller than 0.05, it can be concluded that the use of the UMMI method in the experimental class can improve students' Koran reading abilities.
