ABSTRACTThis research aimed to gain a deep understanding of comparative characterizations, household status, occupation or profession, and socio-cultural background of the third figure women widowed in a collection of short stories (short story), a literary review cross reference. This research seeks to understand the phenomenon of characterizations of women widowed in three short stories that are then compared between the three. Approach this research in the form of a qualitative approach and methods used are content analysis methods. The process of data analysis in this research is not based on an effort to test the hypothesis, but rather attempted to develop a theory or framework of thinking based on the theory of literary sociology, so researchers retain a major role as a tool research. Data sources the study consists of three short stories namely (1) “Namanya, Massa”, by Ratna Indraswari Ibrahim, a short story from Indonesia, (2) “Tarian Hamil dan Penyair Bulan” by Johari Tarif, short stories from Malaysia, (3) and "Norhayati" by Amil Jaya, a short story from Brunei Darussalam. The topic of this research inspired the character equality is in the short story from the collection of short stories in the book Menjenguk Dunia Batin Cerpen Serumpun (MDBCM). The findings of this research in the form of naming differences, education, household status, employment, and socio-cultural background. For the differences of the characters, properties, and the habit of the third figure women widowed: Massa, Lely, and Norhayati is caused by the difference in the level of education, occupation or profession, and socio-cultural environment.Keyword: characterizations, women's widow, short stories, literary cross reference

This interview was conducted on 16 May 2009 at Le Quartier Francais in Franschhoek, Cape Town, South Africa. Petina Gappah is the third generation of Zimbabwean writers writing from the diaspora. She was born in 1971 in Zambia, and grew up in Zimbabwe during the transitional moment from colonial Rhodesia to independence. She has law degrees from the University of Zimbabwe, the University of Cambridge, and the University of Graz. She writes in English and also draws on Shona, her first language. She has published a short story collection An Elegy for Easterly (2009), first novel The Book of Memory (2015), and another collection of short stories, Rotten Row (2016).  Gappah’s collection of short stories An Elegy for Easterly (2009) was awarded The Guardian First Book Award in 2009, and was shortlisted for the Frank O’Connor International Short Story Award, the richest prize for the short story form. Gappah was working on her novel The Book of Memory at the time of this interview.

Tulisan ini membahas citra perempuan Banten dalam cerpen yang dimuat di harian Radar Banten dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Budaya Banten melatarbelakangi para cerpenis dalam melukiskan perempuan Banten. Para penulis dapat memotret sebagian kehidupan para perempuan tersebut melalui tokoh-tokoh rekaan yang diciptakan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengkaji citra perempuan Banten melalui deskripsi para cerpenis dalam harian Radar Banten. Sumber data utama berasal dari empat belas cerpen yang dimuat tahun 2006—2010. Setelah analisis data melalui teori feminisme, diketahui bahwa citra perempuan Banten dalam cerpen tersebut adalah perempuan sebagai sosok pemimpin pemerintahan, penulis, perempuan berkekuatan magis, pemegang norma, pekerja keras, penyabar, penyayang, perempuan yang agamis, dan perempuan metropolis.Abstract:This paper discusses the image of Banten women in short stories published in Radar Banten. It  uses a qualitative descriptive method. Banten’s  cultural background depicts women in Banten. The writers of short story can capture some of the women’s real life through fiction’s characters. The purpose of this study is to examine the image of women through the description of the short story’s writers in Radar Banten. The main data sources were taken from fourteen short stories published in 2006—2010. Having analyzed the data using feminism theory, it is found out that the image of women in short stories of Radar Banten is the figure of woman as government leader, writer, woman with magical power, obedient norm woman, hardworking woman, patient and caring woman, religious woman, and  metropolitan woman.

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui beragam resepsi pembaca terhadap bentuk ketidakadilan gender dalam cerpen feminisme berjudul Mata Telanjang. Bentuk ketidakadilan gender yang dibahas dalam penelitian ini meliputi: marginalisasi, subordinasi, stereotipi, dan kekerasan. Data resepsi dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner dan dianalisis berdasarkan metode resepsi sastra. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya kontradiksi penerimaan pembaca terkait bentuk ketidakadilan gender terhadap tokoh perempuan (pekerja seks) yang ditawarkan oleh cerpen Mata Telanjang. Perbedaan perspektif dari pembaca disebabkan oleh latar belakang usia, pengetahuan, dan status sosial pembaca sehingga menimbulkan dua kelompok pembaca, yakni kelompok pembaca yang pro terhadap adanya bentuk ketidakadilan gender, dan kelompok pembaca yang menolak bentuk ketidakadilan gender pada tokoh perempuan dalam cerpen.[The purpose of this study is to find out various reader receptions towards gender inequality in feminism short stories entitled Mata Telanjang. The forms of gender injustice discussed in this study include: marginalization, subordination, stereotyping, and violence. The data of reception were collected through questionnaires and analyzed based on the method of literary reception. The results of this study indicate a contradiction in readers' acceptance of the form of gender inequality towards female leaders (sex workers) offered by Mata Telanjang short story. The difference in perspective from the reader is caused by the background of the age, knowledge, and social status of the reader. Here, there are two groups of readers, namely the readers who are pro against the form of gender inequality, and the readers who reject the form of gender injustice in female characters in the short story.]

This article reveals the effectiveness of using inductive learning models to find religious values in the short story. The method used in the study is PTK. The experiment was conducted in three cycles, each cycle consists of two meetings. The study was conducted in grade XI MAN Cianjur. The results showed that inductive models can enhance the learning process, especially the attention of students in learning and students cooperation in group discussions. In the first cycle, in terms of students attention, from 44 students there are 29 students (65.90%) paid attention, and in terms of cooperation of the students in group discussions, there were 27 students (61.36%) are cooperative. In the second cycle, from 44 students there were 33 students (75%) who paid attention, and regarding the cooperation of the group, there are 30 students (68.18%) who are cooperative. In the third cycle, from 44 students there are 38 students (86.36%) who paid attention, and regarding group cooperation there are 39 students (88.64%)who are cooperative. The student’ results in the first cycle obtained an average value of 68.64, in the second cycle the average value was 77.16, and in the third cycle the average value was 91.82. Therefore, it is concluded that the implementation of inductive learning model on learning of finding religious values on the short story in class XI MAN Cianjur can enhance the learning process and student learning outcomes.Keywords: religious value, inductive models, processes and outcomes

The fact that always be considered is the contemplation of internal feelings of every practiced Muslim to please Almighty Allah. It occurs via observing and following His commands and orders through prescribed manner of the Messenger Muhammad Peace Be upon Him, but sometimes it becomes so complex and multipart to identify the right step of actions, streamline with shariah standards even difficult to recognize the difference between preferred and Non-preferred, lawful and prohibited. So among these situations, second congregational prayed in one masjid, an issue faced by common people. The classical literature is the witness of unanimous ruling in two situations of second congregational prayer; i.e. congregation (Jama’at) in the Masjid and congregation in public places. The third situation requires little deep understanding to know the actual ruling of shariah, which is congregation (Jama’at) in the same Masjid but appointed Imam performs original Jama’at. Different scholars have presented different opinions. This paper emphasis on the third situation where the detailed discussion has been made in the light of the mentioned book in the title to draw the neat and clear line of action for the practiced Muslim along with the provision of different narrations and Shariah rulings in order to interpret the reality and to avoid all sort of confusions.

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji penggunaan pronomina persona dalam cerpen Kesetiaan Itu  karya Hamsad Rangkuti. Data penelitian berupa satuan lingual berupa kalimat-kalimat yang mengandung pronomina persona. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini berupa sumber data tertulis berupa paragraf-paragraf yang terdapat pada cerpen. Metode yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data pada penelitian ini adalah metode dokumentasi dan metode catat. Penelitian ini menggunakan validitas semantik yaitu data mengenai pemarkah pronomina persona sebagai sarana kohesi hubungan antarkalimat dalam wacana cerpen dapat dimaknai sesuai dengan konteksnya. Instrumen penelitian berupa kartu data. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode agih. Hasil penelitian ditemukan sebanyak 173 pronomina persona pertama, 65 pronomina persona kedua, dan 192 pronomina persona ketiga. Semua pronomina persona yang ditemukan bersifat takrif. Pronomina persona yang paling banyak ditemukan berwujud aku, -mu dan -nya. Hasil penelitian dapat diimplikasikan dalam pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia di SMP karena teks cerpen merupakan medium pembelajaran sastra. Siswa diharapkan dapat memahami penggunaan pronomina persona dalam teks cerpen. Karakter tokoh dalam cerpen tersebut dapat diteladani siswa dalam menjalani kehidupan nyata di masyarakat.  Untuk itu, guru harus mampu membuat skenario pembelajaran di kelas.Kata kunci: pronomina persona, cerpen, pembelajaran bahasa IndonesiaAbstractThis study aims to describe the use of personal pronouns  in Kesetiaan Itu short story by Hamsad Rangkuti. The data were lingual units in the form of sentences with personal pronouns. The data sources were paragraphs in the short story. The data were collected through documentation and note. They were analyzed by the distributive method. The findings show that there are 173  the first personal pronouns,  65 the second personal pronouns, and 192 the third personal pronouns. All personal pronouns were found are definitive. The most pronounced personal pronouns is aku, -mu, and -nya. The findings can be utilized in the Indonesian language learning at junior high schools because short stories are a medium of literary learning. Students are expected to understand use of personal pronouns in short stories. The characters in the short story can be emulated by students  life in the community.  For this reason, teachers must be able to create learning scenarios. Keywords: personal pronouns, short story, Indonesian language learning

This research uses action research methodwhich is done through planning, action, observation, and reflection. This research wasconducted through three cycles, from the result of learning process is found that students havebeen able to make a planning, monitoring, evaluation and revising according to metacognitivestrategy cycle, during their time in writing short story task. This research find out that therehad been an increased from the short story writing result in every of its cycle. On the first cycle,there are 8 (eight) students who accomplished the task, with average score is in 64,16. On thesecond cycle, it showed a significant increased, there were 29 (twenty nine) students whoaccomplished and 9 (nine) students have not accomplished the task, with average score is ini72, 18. And the third cycle, there were 38 (thirty eight) students who accomplished the task inthe short story writing learning process with average score was in 77,05

"“The Heave of the Swell” – Metaphors of the Sea in Short Stories from Atlantic Canada (1900-1930). The paper examines the use of sea metaphors in Atlantic Canadian short stories written between 1900 and 1930. Lakoff and Kövecses’s cognitive concept of the metaphor will provide the theoretical framework for the identification and classification of sea metaphors surfacing in the texts to be analysed. Using the socio-cultural background information provided in the first part of the paper, the more substantial second part will constitute the actual analysis, which will concentrate on the sea metaphor use of the works of prominent Atlantic Canadian short story writers from the golden age of the sea story. Abstract This study aims to gain a deep understanding of the implementation of the process approach in teaching writing short stories on students of PGSD FKIP Untan. This study used a qualitative approach. Sources of data in this research is learning events to write a short story using a process approach. Research procedures used in this study is the planning, implementation, data analysis, and report writing. Data collection technique used is the technique of direct observation and document scrutiny. Data collection tool used is a field record sheets and documentation with regard to the learning process and learning outcomes. This research data analysis begins with data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion / verification. Based on the results and discussion of this research can be concluded that the process approach can improve the skills of students to write short stories. This increase can be seen from both process and product. Learning to write by following the steps in the process approach can help lecturers provide variety and stimulation in a given assignments to write short stories. In the process of improvement can be seen from the learning process with the creative writing process approach in the activities of the students and the classroom situation in learning creative writing poetry, while in terms of products increase student skills to write short stories. Keywords: process approach, teaching writing, short story
