Pain is an integral part of labor and childbirth which is normal due to physiological and psychological factors. Labor pain can affect uterine contractions through secretion of catecholamine and cortisol levels which increase sympathetic nervous system activity, changes in blood pressure, heart rate, breathing, and consequently affect labor duration. This study aims to determine the effect of warm compresses on the intensity of labor in the first phase of active labor. The design of this study was quasi-experimental with one group pre-test and post-test design. The population in this study were all labor women at BPM Tri Rahayu Setyaningsih Sleman, with incidental sampling techniques and 18 samples were obtained. A compress was carried out in the lower abdomen using hot bladders. Data analysis using Paired T test. Based on the research results obtained, the mean pain score before treatment was 8.66 and the mean pain score after treatment was 5.83. The results of statistical analysis of different pain intensity tests before and after treatment showed a significant difference (p = 0,000; 95% CI -3,352 - (- 2,314). This shows that warm compresses can reduce the intensity of pain in labor during the active phase. warmth can be used as one way to reduce the intensity of labor pain

Objectives: To compare nasal and upper airway dimensions in patients with cleft lip and palate (CLP) who underwent nasoalveolar molding (NAM) with those without NAM during infancy using acoustic pharyngometry and rhinometry. Materials and Methods: Eccovision acoustic pharyngometry and rhinometry (Sleep Group Solutions) was used for assessment of mean area and volume of nasal and upper airway in patients with complete unilateral CLP (age range 16-21 years) treated with NAM (group 1, n = 19) versus without NAM (group 2, n = 22). Results: The mean nasal cross-sectional areas and volume were higher in group 1 compared to group 2 on both cleft ( P value <.001) and noncleft side ( P value >.05). The mean area and volume of upper airway were also significantly higher in group 1 compared to group 2 ( P value <.05). Conclusions: Nasoalveolar molding being one of the first interventions in chronology of treatment of patients with CLP, its long-term outcome on nasal and upper airway patency needs to be ascertained. The results of the present study show that the patients with CLP who have undergone NAM during infancy have better improvement in nasal and upper airway patency compared with those who had not undergone NAM procedure. The basic advantages of being noninvasive, nonionizing and providing dynamic assessment of nasal and upper airway patency make acoustic pharyngometry and rhinometry a diagnostic tool of choice to be used in patients with CLP.

Labor pain is a physiological condition that began at the first stage of labor (laten and active phase). Pain comes from uterine contractions and cervical dilation in an attempt to pave the way for birth and encourage babies to be born. Experts find pharmacological and non-pharmacological ways to reduce pain in labor, one of them is Dzikir guided by childbirth helper (midwife). The purpose of this study was to analyze the differences of labor pain level on mother in latent phase before and after applying Dzikir. Subjects were 15 accidentally selected mothers in labor latent phase on March - April in PMB “S” Puger Jember. The design of this study uses a quasi-experimental one group pre-posttest. Results showed significant decreased pain level of mothers after doing Dzikir significantly (Z=-3,578, p≤0.001). In conclusions, there are differences of labor pain level on mother in latent phase before and after applying Dzikir

Introduction: Labour is the process where uterine contractions lead to expulsion of product of conception through the vagina into the outer world. Labour pain is one of the most severe pains which has ever been evaluated and its fear is one of the reasons women wouldn’t go for natural delivery. Delivery is a painful experience for all of the women except a few of them. The labor pain results from some physiological-psychological causes. Different pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods have been tried for pain relief in labour. The objective of this study is to see the effect of butorphanol injection in labour pain. Methods: It is a descriptive cross-sectional study conducted in B.P. Koirala institute of health sciences. We observed 200 pregnant women meeting the inclusion criteria and giving the informed consent who were on 1 mg butorphanol i.m. at the onset of active stage of labour every 4 hourly and on demand. Pain assessment was done by Numerical Pain analogue scale measured from 1 to 10. Fetal heart rate monitoring was done according to the hospital protocol. Caesarean section was performed for obstetrical indication. Neonatal outcome was evaluated by on duty pediatrician and APGAR score were noted at 1 and 5 min. Results: The pain scores in first, second, third, fourth hour were (8.83±0.773), (9.84±0.544), (9.94±0.338), (9.6±0.298) respectively, where 1st and 2nd hour is statistically significant. Conclusions: Butorphanol is an effective labour analgesia without significant adverse effects on women and the neonatal outcome.

Background: Intrauterine fetal death (IUFD) is estimated to occur in 1% of all pregnancies. The advent of prostaglandins has revolutionized the management of IUFD. There are limited studies using a combined regimen of mifepristone and misoprost for induction of labor in IUFD. Hence this study was undertaken to assess the efficacy and safety of combined regimen with misoprostol alone, in the management of IUFD.Methods: This hospital based prospective study included 60 pregnant women with IUFD admitted at Mediciti Institute of Medical Sciences, during the period January 2015 to July 2016. An ultrasound scan was performed to confirm IUFD and localize the placenta. Women were divided alternatively into 2 groups with 30 in each group (group 1- women received 200 mg mifepristone orally followed by misoprostol after 24 hours & in group 2, 100 µg misoprostol  every 6 hourly for a maximum of 4 doses between gestational age  24-26 weeks, 25-50 µg 4 hourly for a maximum of 6 doses beyond 26 weeks). Results: The mean induction to delivery interval was 10 hours in group 1 and 16.3 hours in group 2 (p value 0.007). Mean dose of misoprostol required in group 1 was 1.87 and 2.67 in group 2 (p value 0.008). With respect to side effects, the two groups did not differ significantly. Conclusions: The combined regimen was more effective than misoprostol for the induction of labour in IUFD, in terms of higher rate of successful delivery and shorter induction to delivery interval.

Kata kunci : Massage Effleurage, head control, bayi usia 3-4 bulan.  Effect of Massage Effleurage on Head Control Ability of Infant 3-4 Month Old Extensions Abstract. Head control is one of the most important drivers of most of the assessment of infant development. Head control disorders are often cited as a risk factor for early delays in head control development. This research is a quasi-experimental research which aims to determine the effect of massage effleurage on the ability of head control extension in the prone position of infants aged 3-4 months, where the research respondents are divided into two, namely the treatment group of 8 respondents and the control group of 8 respondents. This research was conducted at the Puskesmas Paccerakkang Makassar. The research instrument used the Test Of Infant Motor Performance (TIMP) which was used to assess head control in infants aged 34 weeks to 4 months. This study assesses how long and how high the baby can lift and hold the head in a prone position. Based on the Mann Whitney test, the p value was 0.001 <0.005, which means that there was a significant effect between the treatment group (baby massage) and the control group. To see a better result based on the mean difference value, it turns out that the treatment group has a higher mean difference value, namely 18.75 than the control group.
