Contrasting studies of foreign language teacher education have become a growing interest among educationists and researchers in different countries (Yoder, 1992; McKay & Montgomery, 1995; Baker & Giacchino-Baker, 2000; Stachowski & Sparks, 2007; Firmin, M. W., Firmin, R & MacKay, F. M., 2008; LaFond & Dogancay-Aktuna, 2009; Ozek, 2009). Such studies emphasize the importance of comparing and understanding different education programs and enables student teachers to think more globally with respect to their language career. These contrasting studies investigate different aspects of foreign language (FL) teaching programs. The present study reports a comparison of the student teachers of an American and Turkish university regarding their satisfaction and readiness in language teaching, and their attitudes towards language teaching theories and teacher education program. The study aims to discover the teacher trainees’ perceptions with an in-depth understanding and compare the differences among them. Therefore, the researcher employed an interconnection of qualitative and quantitative approaches. Data were collected through self-report questionnaires and interviews. The results indicated that there were some significant differences between the subjects in two groups regarding their readiness, their attitudes towards their education programs and their self-perceptions as teacher candidates.

Viewing its use in language teaching mainly as a text corpus, this article examines the problem of the assessment of suitability of this material for use in the Greek language course in Cyprus schooling. The suitability of texts for use in language teaching is defined by four parameters, which are described in detail in this article: text readability, content, genre, and grammatical information. The literature review shows the research gap as to the ways of finding on the Web a suitable text for use in language teaching according to specific characteristics. The tool diaKeimenou, which is presented in this article, aims to fill this gap and help the teacher choose the most suitable texts for teaching with reasonable effort and time. The results of the usability evaluation of diaKeimenou are also presented in this article.

The article is scientifically and axiologically justified by the assumption that the conceptual-methodological basis and the results in the field of intercultural psychosociology are sources and landmarks in the development of intercultural education and school curriculum. In this respect, this study highlighted relevant contributions in intercultural psychosociology, their educational and curricular impact and also explored some possibilities of developing intercultural education and reconfiguration of the school curriculum from the perspective of interculturalism. The article started from the general hypothesis that if we outline the students’ social representations, attitudes and curricular preferences concerning intercultural education of students, correlated to the European dimension of education, then it will be possible to develop the premises for action and intervention model in the field of intercultural education curricula. The general hypothesis was operationalized in four particular hypotheses that were subsequently confirmed. The research was conducted using an adapted questionnaire (InterQ) based on authors’ previous studies in the field of curriculum and was applied on a sample of 213 students from the University of Craiova. The article also includes critical analyses, personal opinions and authors' opinions on concerning socio-educational transposition of the research results from intercultural psychosociology, and also advances some directions for future research.

ABSTRACTThis paper reviews the evolution of the concept of communicative competence proposed by Dell Hymes, including the main models for the analysis of this construct with an emphasis on the relevance acquired by the formulation of certain capabilities and attitudes to face the relationship with cultural difference within the framework of language teaching. This is the foundation for the development of a theoretical proposal about the concept of intercultural competence that may feasibly become the curricular core of a didactic proposal for intercultural education programs in Latin America. Cantero's model (2009) is noted among the most outstanding analysis models because of the novelty of his contribution with an approach that uses complexity theory to explain both the relationships among the elements integrating communicative competence and even more importantly the descriptive and normative potential of his analysis model for language teaching.

Micro learning activities (micro teaching) in the Economic Education Study Program is a process of transforming science to shape the character of prospective teacher students who have specific teaching skills before implementing a real teaching program. Pragmatically, mastery of the material is less comprehensive, mastery of classes is less than optimal, awkwardness and awkwardness become modes of learning in micro teaching. It is also influenced by the limitation of the frequency of teaching micro. The acquisition of good / excellent grades in micro teaching activities cannot be used as a contribution to say that a 2014 Class of Economics Education Study Program student will be able to carry out real teaching programs well.

Education Source is an EBSCO database. It offers the user access to thousands of full-text journals and conference papers, millions of citations, thousands of abstracts, and hundreds of videos. These various print and media resources cover a wide variety of educational topics, including educational policy, pedagogy, communication and information in education, educational grants, and education economics, among many others. This database can be viewed in one of 32 languages. Documents can be found here using either a basic or advanced search, both of which are easily understandable and useable. Although the two searches have their own strengths and weaknesses, both can produce useful results. Pricing for this resource is determined by FTE, consortium agreements/buying groups, other EBSCO database subscriptions, and a variety of other factors. All of these can lead to considerable price variability. The licensing agreement for this database is the same as for all EBSCO resources, and its composition is standard and unre-markable (though it is a bit long, at nine pages). Content quality and quantity in this database is excellent and will certainly be of use to those researching education and related topics. However, its primary audience will be students and faculty in colleges and universities, and most probably only those with education programs, schools, or departments. It will be of only secondary use to others, and possibly too expensive for them.
