Education Source is an EBSCO database. It offers the user access to thousands of full-text journals and conference papers, millions of citations, thousands of abstracts, and hundreds of videos. These various print and media resources cover a wide variety of educational topics, including educational policy, pedagogy, communication and information in education, educational grants, and education economics, among many others. This database can be viewed in one of 32 languages. Documents can be found here using either a basic or advanced search, both of which are easily understandable and useable. Although the two searches have their own strengths and weaknesses, both can produce useful results. Pricing for this resource is determined by FTE, consortium agreements/buying groups, other EBSCO database subscriptions, and a variety of other factors. All of these can lead to considerable price variability. The licensing agreement for this database is the same as for all EBSCO resources, and its composition is standard and unre-markable (though it is a bit long, at nine pages). Content quality and quantity in this database is excellent and will certainly be of use to those researching education and related topics. However, its primary audience will be students and faculty in colleges and universities, and most probably only those with education programs, schools, or departments. It will be of only secondary use to others, and possibly too expensive for them.

Revolution and Protest Online is an Alexander Street resource, which provides documents, images and videos on revolutions and resistance, protest, and social movements from the eighteenth to the twenty-first centuries. It can be purchased as a standalone collection with a perpetual access license, or it can be accessed as a Related Collection through a subscription to Global Issues Library, another Alexander Street resource. This database contains original documents and images in PDF format, as well as e-books, monographs, journals, and videos. These are drawn from a variety of national and international sources, and collectively represent several hundred images, almost 200 videos, and nearly 100,000 pages of content. This database is not difficult to navigate, and finding materials there is relatively easy, using either the basic or advanced searches or through browsing. These various search and browse functions can produce useful results, and are easily understandable, though the advanced search is arguably the most flexible and effective (but also the most complex!). Pricing for this database is based on an institution's budget, FTE, and whatever consortia arrangements it and other institutions make with the vendor. As a consequence, its price can vary considerably from one subscriber to another! For a specific price quote, contact Alexander Street. Its licensing agreement is quite average in its length and composition and is apparently the standard one for the vendor. The quality, quantity, and variety of materials in this database is notable. It will certainly be of use to those researching the political, historical, and social aspects of revolution and protest, both in the United States and around the world. However, given its price variability, it may only be of marginal value to institutions with a high purchase/subscription price and a low demand for these kinds of materials.

Searching for contents in present digital libraries is still very primitive; most websites provide a search field where users can enter information such as book title, author name, or terms they expect to be found in the book. Some platforms provide advanced search options, which allow the users to narrow the search results by specific parameters such as year, author name, publisher, and similar. Currently, when users find a book which might be of interest to them, this search process ends; only a full-text search or references at the end of the book may provide some additional pointers. In this chapter, the author is going to give an example of how a user could permanently get recommendations for additional contents even while reading the article, using present machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques.

The primary business challenge for the customers to use outsourced computation and storage is the loss of data control and security. So encryption will become a commodity in the near future. There is big diffusion with the above scenario: take advantage of current application’s full functionalities at the same time ensuring their sensitive data remains protected and under customers’ control. Prior works have achieved effective progress towards satisfying both sides. But there are still some technical challenges, such as supporting file or data-stream based applications and supporting full-text and advanced searches. In this paper, a novel security broker based encrypted data search scheme, called Enc-YUN, is proposed, which transparently builds a reverse index at the security broker when the data flow is transmitted to the cloud. And search firstly takes place on the index, in which the mapping structure corresponds to and retrieves the very encrypted data in the cloud on behalf of the client. With this scheme, updated-to-date full-text search techniques can be easily integrated to carry out the most advanced search functionalities, at the same time, maintaining the strongest levels of data protection from curious providers or third parties. Experimental results show that Enc-YUN is effective with broad categories of cloud applications, and the performance overhead induced is minor and acceptable according to user’s perceptual experience.

This chapter introduces online citation data retrieval using the Web of Science and Dialog Classic. The Web of Science provides access to multidisciplinary citation index information from approximately 8,700 high impact research journals in the world. Users can navigate to electronic full-text journal articles, with complete bibliographic data, cited reference data, and direct links to the full text. A citation index, developed by The Institute for Scientific Information (ISI), is an alphabetical listing by author of all the references found in footnotes and bibliographies of journals covered in the index. This chapter overviews three search options: general search, cited reference search, and advanced search. The following section provides some useful information about the procedure to retrieve cocitaion frequency counts using Dialog Classic, using the free ONTAP® (ONline Training And Practice) site. This chapter points out several technical limitations of using ISI online citation index databases, including Multiple Authorship: all citation index files permit retrieving records only by last name and initials of first author only. Another limitation is Name-citation records by an author of the same last name and initials may not be authored by the same author. Another limitation is Synonyms: To further complicate matters, the same author’s initials can be recorded in many different ways. Some examples of synonym are Keen, P. or Keen, P. G. W. Lee, S. or Lee, S. M.
