Abstract From the 20th century to the 21st century, feminist model of interpretation has been developing rapidly. The majority of feminist interpreters, both men and women, criticize the centrality of men in interpreting the Qur'an.They emphasize the argument that the interpreter's gender bias is still dominated by men, most of which have shaped the paradigm of understanding the Qur'an and Islam in general. In contrast to secular feminists, Muslim feminist scholars do not reject Islam itself. Instead, they refer to the Qur'an and the Prophet's Sunnah to support their claim that the Qur'an needs to be reinterpreted. This research specifically tries to study and explore the concept of gender equality in Islam, especially in the perspective of Muhammad Syahrur's hermeneutic thinking. This article aimed to analyze the stereotypes attributed to "egalitarian men", understood here as men who support gender equality in relation to domestic and family responsibilities as well as inclusion in the workforce. To do so, two studies were carried out. The first study investigated the attribution of stereotypes to egalitarian men through a single open question. A total of 250 university students participated in this study, of which 51.1% were male, and their average age was 21.5 years (SD = 4.39). The second study analyzed the attribution of stereotypes to egalitarian or traditional men and women in a work context considered masculine. Participants included 221 university students with a mean age of 21.9 years (SD = 4.19), the majority (54.3%) being male. Taken together, the results of the two studies indicate that the egalitarian man is perceived as fragile and possibly homosexual. On the other hand, he is also seen as being more competent than traditional men.

Abstract Securing a future for philosophy and wisdom in the professionalized and specialized context of twenty-first century academia is the challenge taken up by this article. If the conception of philosophy as the love of wisdom expects too much of philosophers, the construal of philosophy as the study of wisdom expects too little. To attempt to rehabilitate the relationship between philosophy and wisdom by claiming that philosophy is the study of wisdom unreasonably limits the scope of the current vibrant and expansive discipline, leaving it unclear how the more theoretical dimensions of philosophy might fit into it. Moreover, to exclude from consideration the possibility that a person might be improved by philosophy, and his or her life enhanced, is to denature the discipline. The model of philosophy as encouraging friendship with wisdom, on the other hand, does not underestimate philosophy’s potential for helping someone to become the kind of person who could make the choices likely to contribute to the living of a good life. By providing a way of thinking about the relationship between philosophy and wisdom that is appropriate to our age, the idea that philosophers are friends of wisdom can contribute to our evolving practice and understanding of the discipline, while at the same time allowing philosophy and philosophers to remain vitally connected to their heritage.

Ecclesiastical rogues, misfits and outcasts often possess some magnetic or magical quality. The lives and activities of these men and women may provide comic relief for scholars bored by research into spirituality, administrative reform or questions involving the relationship of Church and State. On the other hand, they may exemplify some novelty or pioneering effort; as a consequence, their insights might have been blackened by more cautious contemporaries who resorted to mockery or accusations of heresy. Some of these people may be prophets who had the courage to point the boney finger at scandal or abuse, whom officialdom was quick to brand as deviants. Finally, they may be people caught in the ecclesiastical maelstrom of change. Unable to adapt, they lash out against the structure. These streams converge in the life of the Revd Richard O'Halloran (i 856-1925). During his stormy career, he publicly attacked the alleged misuse of power by archbishops and bishops. Always proclaiming his loyalty to Rome, O'Halloran threatened schism several times. He also believed that the religious orders throughout England were involved in a grand conspiracy to destroy the rights of the secular clergy. Fr O'Halloran's experiences with the Benedictine monks in the London suburb of Ealing confirmed his suspicions.

This article aims to describe the relations of equality and respect for men and women in the Karo cultural frame. The relationship between the two, where adat (culture) is the main reference often has bad-faced implications for the Karo patriarchy. Patriarch Karo is often claimed not to have a space of equality and respect for women. The problem will be focused on the use of idioms attached to Karo women. One idiom that is very attached to Karo women is rukat nakan. Idiom the rukat nakan describes the domestic duties of women, namely arranging accommodation and household logistics. With regard to the relationship between men and women, feminists claim the rukat nakan idiom is a form of condescension toward women, even an attempt to domesticate Karo patriarchal role of women. On the other hand, this idiom is also often referred to to validate the wife's subordination to her husband. The results of the research through interviews, literary research and analysis of Karo song poems, the idioms of rukat nakan are an illustration of the appreciation of the domestic role of women. Si rukat nakan is a domestic assignment which describes a very private relationship between husband and wife. The term “si rukat nakan” is not to denigrate or domesticate women, but it shows respect for women's roles.

Islam is a religion that upholds the value of justice and equality contains the principles of equality. Men and women alike as creatures of Allah, as caliphs on earth and have the potential to achieve optimal potential. Gender Equality is the main agenda of the feminism movement, since the inclusion of gender discourse in Islamic religion, some Muslim thinkers are influenced by the concept of gender, they assume that Islam that came during the time of the prophet has similarities with the concept of gender brought by feminism, finally many texts the laws and verses that have governed the relationship between men and women are reviewed to suit the perspective of gender equality. The problem is many concepts that are not in line even contrary to the concept of justice in Islam. For this reason, the concept of gender equality in Islamic religious education must be known so that there is no gender bias in education. The right of women to obtain education and achieve the same achievements as men is one of the goals of gender equality in education, but the limits taught in Islamic education also need to be considered.

Gender is always being connected with equality and discrimination. Gender equality is about a balancing, harmony, and role equality and also a responsible among men and women. There are equality and also equity in having some rights, opportunities, cooperation, and relations among men and women. On the other hand, gender discrimination is a behaviour that tries to avoid, burden the equality of gender. This behaviour can cause an avoidance of the human right and the equality among men and women in many aspects, such as politics, economy, and socio-culture. Bible is the main source of every rule and Christian ethique. But the bible itself has patriarchy culture domination. Most of the scholar argued that the discrimination and injustice among men and women is a reflection of the culture. They can’t divide the gender concept that change and created in long term socio-culture process.  The ideal status and role should be developed for the equality status among men and women. In some parts of the bible, there is role and status which are not ideal, or even show the discrimination to women, but that’s not the reason why we should avoid bible but we have to learn more about, what is the background and what is the purpose so we can get the best answer to solve all the gender problems.

At the beginning of the 21st century, the boundaries between men and women are still present, yet along new dividing lines. A “horizontal segregation” divides them between masculine and feminine professions. Women are paid less than their male colleagues, even when they are equally qualified. A “vertical segregation” on the other hand makes access to prestigious positions more difficult for women than it is for men. How is it possible to explain such differences? Based on the emblematic paradigm of artistic professions the paper comments on the basic analyses developed in the framework of gender studies over the past twenty years. On the basis of the research conducted by the author on French women in jazz music, the paper will analyze key French and Anglo-Saxon gender theories on the gender-work nexus.
