The objective of this research was to find out whether there is any significant difference vocabulary mastery between students who used socrative application for formative assessment and who are not used socrative application for formative assessment. This research applied quantitative research approach and used quasi-experimental design. In this research, the researcher used two classes (experimental class and control class) as a sample. The population of eleventh science grade in SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Ponorogo was 115 students. The number of sample in this research was 30 students of experimental class (XI IPA4) and 31 students of control class (XI IPA3). The researcher used simple random sampling to choose the sample in this research. The data were obtained by using a pre-test and post-test. The pre-test was given to both classes before the treatment and the post-test was given after the treatment. After getting the score of pre-test and post-test, the data were analyzed and processed by using T-test formula using SPSS 23 versions for Windows. The result of this research showed that the average of post-test of experimental class is 87.70 and the average score of post-test of control class is 77.74. The value of t-test = 3,226 with df = 59 on level significance 5%. According to the table value “t” = 1,671. Then tcount  higher than ttable (3,226 > 1,671). Therefore, H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. So, it can be concluded that there is significant difference on students’ vocabulary mastery that used socrative application for formative assessment and that are not. In the other words, Socrative Application is effective for formative assessment on students’ vocabulary mastery of eleventh science grade of SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Ponorogo.

This study aimed to find out whether or not there was any significant difference in speaking ability of the students who were taught by implementing CML (Cultural Model for Literacy) through legends and those who were not. The sample was 41 undergraduate students enrolled in English course at FKIP of Sriwijaya University which were taken by purposive sampling method from 85 total of population. This study used one of the quasi-experimental designs that were pretest posttest non equivalent control group or comparison group design. The students were divided into two groups the experimental and control groups. The experimental group was required to do some phases in treatment of 16 meetings including pre-test and posttest in accordance with introducing new model of teaching speaking that was CML through legends. The data were obtained through speaking test by measuring their oral interpretations to know the students speaking ability. The test was administered twice as pre-test and post-test in both groups. The results indicated that there were any significant differences at level 0.05 level found in the data which were analyzed by using paired sample t-test (t=12.156>t-table=2.080) and independent sample t-test (t=3.252, p<0.05). The results also showed that CML through legends could enhance students speaking ability of the second semester English students of Sriwijaya University.

Method of the research used quantitative research by using quasi experimental design.has both pre and posttests and experimental and control groups, but no random assignment of subjects. To collect the data, the writer used pre-test and post-test. Pre-test given to students before treatment. Post-test is a test that given to students after treatment. After collecting the data, the writer qualifies it based on its kind. To analyze data, the writer uses twoapproaches. To compare the result of research between experimental class and control class. From the calculation of data, the writer got the result as follow:  from control class: (1) Mean score of pre-test (My1) 61,8 and post-test score (My2) 72,0. It means that average score of control class got increase 10,2. Whereas mean score from experimental class for pre-test (Mx1) 57,9 and post-testscore (Mx2) 78,3. It means that average score from experimental class got increase 20,4 and it got higher increase than from control class. (2) The percentage from control class is 34% and experimental class is 67%, so both average and percentage score both of control class and experimental class got increase but control class got relatively little increase than experimental class. (3) “t” observation is 6,41 and 70.

Abstract The research problems of this study were (1) to find out the application of anagram technique in improving student’s vocabulary mastery and (2) to know whether there was a significant difference in vocabulary mastery between the experimental group where the anagram technique was implemented and the control group which no treatment was given during the experiment.  In this study, the writer used the quantitative method with quasi experimental group design. The samples of this study consisted of 36 students of VII E as Experimental Group and 36 students of VII F as Control Group taken from the second year students of seven classes of MTs N Pangkalpinang. The result of the test was analyzed by using statistical analysis of Paired sample t-test and Independent sample t-test. Based on the result analysis, there were two major findings, namely (1) the implementation of Anagram technique in developing students’ vocabulary mastery was successful and the result of difference analysis in post-test of experimental and control group showed that the value of t-obtained was 3.488 which was higher than t-table 2.03 (at the significant level p<0.05 in two tailed testing with degree of freedom 70). The result of this study showed when the means of the post tests between the two classes were compared, the post-test scores were better than the pre-test scores (43.31)for the experimental group (80.89).

Speaking is the ability to pronounce words in order to convey or stated intention, ideas, thoughsts, feeling and dificult to deal with students. There are some problems as causes of the students’ difficulties in speaking, such as they are afraid of making mistake, less convidence, seldom to communicate and cannot express their ideas. To solve the problems, the researcher suggests the use of PPP Model in learning process. Based on the previous explanation, the researcher formulates the objective of the research is to find out whether or not the speaking ability of the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 9 Parepare can enhance through the Use of PPP Model In this research, the researcher applied quasi-experimental design, with two group namely experimental class and control class. The samples was chosen using cluster random sampling technique. The total numbers of sample were consisted of 55 students from two classes taken from the population of the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 9 Parepare. The instrument used in this research was speaking test by record the students’ utterance. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula. The result of the data analyzed shows that the students’ speaking ability improved significantly. It was showed by the mean score of pre-test was 45.33 and the post-test was 72. 83. Besides, the mean score of the students in post-test (72.83) was higher than the Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (71) in SMP Negeri 9 Parepare and include good classification base on Dirjen Pendidikan Dasar dan Menegah (2005). In the same line, the result of t-test value was 2.102 and t-table value was 2.004 in post-test. It means that the t-test value (2.102) was higher than t-table value (2.004). Those indicate that H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected. It also shows there is a significant difference between the speaking ability of the students who were taught through the Use of PPP Model and the speaking ability of the students who were thought by Discovery Learning Model (Conventional Ways).

Some young women including female students in Indonesia are still not free from complaints of dysmenorrhea syndrome. One of the effects of dysmenorrhea is a decrease in learning concentration and daily productivity. Activity that can be pursued is to change lifestyles to be more active in physical exercise, one of which is exercise training. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of moderate-intensity spinning exercise on reducing the symptoms of primary dysmenorrhea pain in female college students. This quantitative research uses a quasi-experimental design pre-test post-test design. Studies subjects numbered 32 where the control and intervention groups each consisted of 16 respondents. The intervention that will be given to the intervention group is a moderate intensity spinning exercise for 3 weeks with the FITT principle. The research data were analyzed by Mann Whitney and Wilcoxon statistical tests. The results of the analysis showed a decrease in dysmenorrhea pain symptoms before the intervention there was no significant difference (p> 0.05), whereas after the administration of the intervention showed there were significant differences in the intervention and control groups with a value of p = 0.001. The influence of moderate-intensity spinning exercise can reduce the symptoms of dysmenorrhea pain by 66%. Educational institutions can implement policies on the use of spinning tools in the environment of students and educate these tools to adolescents in the target area given their effective use to reduce menstrual pain.

Abstract : Exercise, Older People, Cognitive Performance, MMSE. Cognitive performance in older people declines gradually due to aging process. It raises problems in functional daily activities, risks of injury, and dependency. Literatures have been revealed the benefits of exercise for health, not only physically, but also mentally. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of exercise on the cognitive performance of older people in Ngesrep Village, Boyolali District. This study was a quasi experimental one group pre test- post test with control group. A constitutive sampling method was applied to get subjects, and found 20 people for each experiment and control group. The instrument used was Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE). Based on paired t-test analysis in the experiment group, it was found a significant difference on the cognitive performance pre and post exercise intervention (α = 0.05, t = 2.492, p = 0.022, r = 0.657). In the control group, there was no diferrence in pre and post test (p = 0.053). Based on independent t-test analysis between experiment and control group, it was found a significant difference before the intervention (p = 0.031), but after the intervention, there was no difference between the two groups. It was due to the increasing MMSE’s score on the experiment group, whereas the score of control group was relatively the same. Physical exercise had a significant influence on the cognitive performance of older people in this study, so it should be held in Ngesrep Village’s Posyandu routinely.
