Abstract In this study, NiO NPs and doped NiO NPs were prepared in a two-step process and they were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and nitrogen adsorption desorption. X-ray diffraction outcome clarified that all the patterns present the similar peaks that are attributed to the cubic variety of the NiO and all doping metals could be inserted into the NiO structure. TEM result showed that the NiO NPs are assembled side by side and aligned along the same direction to form small array shaped nano-agglomerates of 500 nm in length and 50–70 nm in diameter. Adsorption-desorption isotherms for N2 showed that NiO NPs represents type IV isotherms containing a hysteresis loop at relative pressure between 0.5 and 1.0. Hysteresis loop’s shape was of H2 type which is characteristic of inckbottle shaped pores. It was also in the shape of solids composed by small spherical particles. The dielectric properties and electrical conductivity for these samples were also studied within the temperature range 25oC – 110oC and within the frequency range 100 Hz to 0.3 MHz.

This study was planned to synthesize a multifunctional nanomaterial that can effectively encounter the organic pollutants, multidrug-resistant bacteria and reactive free radicals. The Bergenia ciliate (B. ciliate) leaves extract was used as a reducing and capping agent for the synthesis of nickel oxide nanoparticles (NiO NP). The physicochemical properties were studied through X-ray diffractometre (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), UV-visible and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopies. The highly crystalline monoclinic NiO NPs were synthesized with crystallite size of 27.45 nm. The average particle size derived from TEM micrograph was 49.35 nm whereas the calculated band gap for NiO NPs was 3.78 eV. The photocatalytic study shows that 92.17% of the rhodamine 6G (Rh-6G) was efficiently degraded in the presence of NiO NPs. The agar well diffusion method was applied to examine the antibacterial activity of NiO NPs and the activity was found higher against Gram-negative bacteria (GNB) as compared to Gram-positive bacteria (GPB). The ABTS free radical scavenging activity was also performed, however, the activity was found less than the standard.

Abstract In this paper, we reported the synthesis of NiO NPs and Mg doped-NiO NPs using the facile sol-gel method. Besides, the influence of the variation of Mg dopant on the structural, morphological and optical properties of the prepared Mg-NiO NPs was studied. The synthesized Mg-NiO NPs nanoparticles were characterized by X-Ray Diffraction Analysis (XRD), Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS), Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Field-Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE-SEM), and UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The X-ray diffraction confirmed the formation of the cubic structure of Mg doped-NiO NPs after doping with the magnesium. The increase in the crystal size was observed with the increase in the concentration of the Mg dopant element. The FESEM images reveal the formation of nickel oxide through the appearance of spherical clusters, while the hybrids appear as wrinkled surface covered with spherical particles of magnesium. The UV-Vis spectrum showed a shift towards shorter wavelengths with an increase in the concentration of the Mg dopant element due to the quantum confinement effect. The hemolysis activity study showed that NiO NPs had a low hemolysis percentage of 1.47% and increased with increasing concentration. While, increasing of the RBC hemolysis (5.9%) after NiO doped with Mg. The antibacterial activity was studied against S. aureus and P. aeruginosa bacteria, and indicated the highest growth inhibition zones of Mg-doped NiO NPs as compared with NiO NPs against of Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, respectively.

CuOx powders with diff erently shaped particles were firstly prepared via an electrochemical method by oxidation and dispersion of copper electrodes in an electrolyte solution under pulse alternating current (PAC). By means of X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) the current density is found to have an influence on the morphology and composition of CuOx particles. Photocatalytic efficiency of CuOx towards methyl orange (MO) degradation under visible light was investigated. The prepared polyhedral particles show the best photocatalytic activity of 81 % towards MO comparing to octahedral and spherical particles with 70 and 61 %, respectively.

Green synthesis of nickel oxide nanoparticles (NiO NPs) usingPhysalisangulataleaf extract (PALE) as weak base sources and stabilizing agents has been reported. Chemical bonding and vibration spectroscopy, crystallographic structure, optical band gap, particle size and microscopic studies of NiO NPs were also investigated. Ni-O vibration modes of NiO NPs were analyzed by FTIR and Raman instrument at ~400 and ~900 cm-1wavenumber. XRD pattern of NiO NPs confirmed cubic crystal structure with space groupFm-3m.Optical band gap of NiO NPs determined by using Tauc plot method was about 3.42 eV. Particle size analyzer showed size distribution of NiO NPs was 64.13 nm which confirm NiO formed in nanoscale. Electron microscopic studies of NiO NPs were observed by using scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy.

Ceramics of (1-x)CaCu3Ti4O12-xBi2/3Cu3Ti4O12, i.e., CCTO-BCTO, with x=0, 0.01, 0.1 and 0.25, respectively, were prepared via the conventional solid-state reaction. The phase structure of the ceramics was identified by X-ray diffraction. The microstructure of the sample was observed with scanning electron microscopy. Dielectric properties and impedance spectroscopy were measured using a LCR Meter, in which 0.9CCTO-0.1BCTO displayed highest dielectric constant (584108) and lowest dielectric loss (0.42) at 1kHz among the four kinds of specimens. Based on series of experimental results, an optimum amount of x was able to improve the dielectric properties of CCTO-BCTO, through adjusting the impedance characteristics of the grain and grain boundary.

AbstractMg0:95Ni0:05Ti0:98Zr0:02O3 ceramics was prepared via conventional solid-state mixed-oxide route. The phase, microstructure and microwave dielectric properties of the sintered samples were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and a vector network analyzer. The microstructure comprised of circular and elongated plate-like grains. The semi quantitative analysis (EDS) of the circular and elongated grains revealed the existence of Mg0:95Ni0:05T2O5 as a secondary phase along with the parent Mg0:95Ni0:05Ti0:98Zr0:02O3 phase, which was consistent with the XRD findings. In the present study, εr ~17.1, Qufo~195855 ± 2550 GHz and τf ~ -46 ppm/K was achieved for the synthesized Mg0:95Ni0:05Ti0:98Zr0:02O3 ceramics sintered at 1325 °C for 4 h.

Ordered mesoporous SBA-15 was synthesized through hydrothermal process under acidic condition. The material was characterized by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), small-angle X-ray diffraction (SAXRD), and N2 adsorption-desorption. The results indicated that SBA-15 has 2-dimensional hexagonal p6mm mesoscopic structure and well-ordered parallel mesochannel. The as-obtained mesoporous silica was used for controlled release of water-insolube drug emodin. The loading capacity could achieve 6.64 mg/g, and the release profiles that studied in phosphate buffered saline (PBS, pH = 7.4) showed that released amount of emodin was 95.8 % after 48 h.

TiO2aerogel fibers have been fabricated by electron span combined supercritical drying technique. Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP)/TiO2composite fibers are prepared by electrospinning PVP and TiO2precursor Ti (OC4H9)4. TiO2aerogel fibers are obtained by supercritical drying PVP/TiO2composite fibers using ethanol as media. Structural of the aerogel fibers was investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and N2adsorption at 77 K. The effect of mass ratio of PVP/TiO2was investigated. SEM shows that pore structure of nanofibers was well developed, with the diameter of nanofibers about 2 μm. N2adsorption/desorption data show that the highest surface area of aerogel fibers reached 241.6 m2/g with the average pore diameter about 10 nm. The aerogel fibers were anatase type TiO2.

Mesoporous silicas SBA-15 are modified with β-Cyclodextrins (β-CD) by simple grafting method. β-CD functionalized SBA-15 was characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), nitrogen adsorption–desorption measurements, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Furthermore, the applicability of it is investigated through studying the adsorption properties of clenbuterol. It showed better adsorption capacities of clenbuterol than pure SBA-15. β-CD functionalized SBA-15 material has the potential applications in the treatment of clenbuterol contamination in food and environment science.
