Ranked as the second leading cause of death and the primary factor to adult disability worldwide, stroke has become a global epidemic problem and burden. As a developing country, Malaysia still faces challenges in providing ideal rehabilitation services to individuals with physical disabilities including stroke survivors. Conventional post-stroke care is often delivered in a team- based approach and involves several disciplines, such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, depending on the nature and severity of the deficits. Robots are potential tools for stroke rehabilitation as they can enhance existing conventional therapy by delivering a precise and consistent therapy of highly repetitive movements. In addition, robot- assisted therapy could facilitate the effectiveness of unsupervised rehabilitation and thus, may reduce the cost and duration of therapist-assisted rehabilitation. Research on robot-assisted physiotherapy for stroke in Malaysia is slowly coming into the limelight in the past two decades. This review explores the effectiveness of robot-assisted physiotherapy particularly in improving motor functions of stroke survivors in Malaysia.

Introduction Over the past decade, yoga has gained popularity in health care. The benefits of yoga can go beyond the physical to address the psychosocial and emotional. Such gains can be beneficial for people who have had a stroke. As a leading cause of disability, stroke can lead to challenges returning to daily activities. Occupational therapists may use yoga to promote engagement in daily activities after stroke. This study aimed to understand how and why occupational therapists integrate yoga into stroke rehabilitation. Methods This study involved occupational therapists practicing in the United States. Ten occupational therapists using yoga in practice participated in a semi-structured interview. Interview data were transcribed and analyzed using deductive and inductive coding. Themes emerged from the data related to the benefits of using yoga in stroke rehabilitation. Results According to this study, yoga is currently being used as a treatment technique and merged with occupational therapy. Yoga may promote client-centered recovery; bring “context” to therapy; and address physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs following stroke. Conclusion Individuals who have had a stroke may face challenges related to both physical and psychosocial engagement. The use of yoga in occupational therapy may be beneficial after stroke for both physical and psychosocial rehabilitation.

Outpatient stroke rehabilitation centers (OSRC) play a vital role in providing post-discharge care essential for stroke survivors’ optimum recovery. However, with the ongoing pandemic, reduced access to outpatient stroke rehab has become a serious concern, particularly for stroke survivors residing in rural areas. Key aim: Examine access to OSRC across micropolitan and non-core rural counties in southeastern Texas. Method: We systematically identified OSRC in rural southeast Texas by performing an internet search. A telephonic survey was administered to collect data on OSRC. Estimated stroke incidence and discharge status were extracted from claims databases. Google maps determined travel distance and time. Descriptive statistics were used to examine and compare the characteristics of rural counties. Analyses were performed using SAS® 9.2. Results: We surveyed 65 OSRC from a total of 42 rural (12 micropolitan and 30 non-core) southeast Texas counties (Fig 1). Over 50% non-core counties had no access to OSRC; number of centers per 1000 stroke patients was 4.7 (non-core) versus 11.0 (micropolitan) (P=0.01) (Table 1) . Compared to micropolitan areas, fewer centers in non-core rural areas offered physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language therapy. Telerehabilitation is also far less available in rural non-core counties than micropolitan counties (table 1). Survivors from non-core counties need to travel twice the distance to access OSRC. Stroke incidence, however, remains high in non-core versus micropolitan areas ( Fig 1). Conclusion: In conclusion, non-core rural counties in southeast Texas have inferior access to OSRC despite a high need for post-stroke care. During the pandemic, when patients remain at home, urgent efforts such as telerehabilitation are needed to improve access to these critical services to improve rural stroke survivor outcomes.

The link between dairy farm systems and cost of environmental compliance is not always clear. A survey of Waikato dairy farmers was conducted to establish the real (non-modelled) cost of compliance with environmental regulation in the region. Quantitative and qualitative data were gathered to improve understanding of compliance costs and implementation issues for a range of Waikato farm systems. The average oneoff capital cost of compliance determined through a survey approach was $1.02 per kg milksolids, $1490 per hectare and $403 per cow. Costs experienced by Waikato farmers have exceeded average economic farm surplus for the region in the past 5 years. As regulation increases there are efficiencies to be gained through implementing farm infrastructure and farm management practice to best match farm system intensity. Plagiarism is a behavior that causes violence of copyrights. Survey shows 55% of college presidents say that plagiarism in students’ papers has increased over the past 10 years. Therefore, an application for detecting plagiarism is needed, especially for teachers. This plagiarism checker application is made by using Visual C# 2010. The plagiarism checker uses hamming distance algorithm for matching line code of the source code. This algorithm works by matching the same length string of the code programs. Thus, it needs brute will be matched with hamming distance. Another important thing for detecting plagiarism is the preprocessing, which is used to help the algorithm for detecting plagiarized source code. This paper shows that the application works good in detecting plagiarism, the hamming distance algorithm and brute force algorithm works better than levenstein distance algorithm for detecting structural type of plagiarism and this thesis also shows that the preprocessing could help the application to increase its percentage and its accuracy. This chapter develops a version of ontological pluralism that respects two common intuitions about time: that the present moment is metaphysically distinguished but not in such a way that the past is unreal. The version of ontological pluralism developed—presentist existential pluralism (PEP)—embraces two modes of being, the mode of being that present objects enjoy and the mode of being that past objects enjoy. The author argues that this view fares at least as well, and probably better, than other views in which the present is metaphysically distinguished. The chapter also introduces another form of ontological superiority called “levels of being.”

The ability to attract prey has long been considered a universal trait of carnivorous plants. We review studies from the past 25 years that have investigated the mechanisms by which carnivorous plants attract prey to their traps. Potential attractants include nectar, visual, olfactory, and acoustic cues. Each of these has been well documented to be effective in various species, but prey attraction is not ubiquitous among carnivorous plants. Directions for future research, especially in native habitats in the field, include: the qualitative and quantitative analysis of visual cues, volatiles, and nectar; temporal changes in attractants; synergistic action of combinations of attractants; the cost of attractants; and responses to putative attractants in electroantennograms and insect behavioral tests.

In recent years, the telecom market has been very competitive. The cost of retaining existing telecom customers is lower than attracting new customers. It is necessary for a telecom company to understand customer churn through customer relationship management (CRM). Therefore, CRM analyzers are required to predict which customers will churn. This study proposes a customer-churn prediction system that uses an ensemble-learning technique consisting of stacking models and soft voting. Xgboost, Logistic regression, Decision tree, and Naïve Bayes machine-learning algorithms are selected to build a stacking model with two levels, and the three outputs of the second level are used for soft voting. Feature construction of the churn dataset includes equidistant grouping of customer behavior features to expand the space of features and discover latent information from the churn dataset. The original and new churn datasets are analyzed in the stacking ensemble model with four evaluation metrics. The experimental results show that the proposed customer churn predictions have accuracies of 96.12% and 98.09% for the original and new churn datasets, respectively. These results are better than state-of-the-art churn recognition systems.

Over the past 25 years, peritoneal dialysis (PD) has steadily improved so that now its outcomes, in the form of patient survival, are equivalent to, and at times better than, those for hemodialysis. We now have a better understanding of the pathophysiology of peritoneal membrane function and damage and the importance of appropriate prescription to meet agreed-upon targets of solute and fluid removal. In the next millennium, greater emphasis will be put on prescription setting and subsequent monitoring. This will entail an increase in automated PD, especially for lifestyle reasons as well as for patients with a hyperpermeable peritoneal membrane. To improve outcomes, dialysis should be started earlier than is currently the case. It is easy to do this with PD, where an incremental approach is made easier by the introduction of icodextrin for long-dwell PD. In the future, solutions will be tailored to be more biocompatible and to provide improved nutrition and better cardiovascular outcomes. Finally, economic considerations favor PD, which is cheaper than in-centre hemodialysis. Thus, for many, PD has become a first-choice therapy, and with further improvements this trend will continue.

Mexico's democratic transition has helped reduce, if not eliminate, the threat of renewed armed conflict in Chiapas. However, absent more active measures from the government and the Ejéército Zapatista de Liberacióón Nacional (EZLN) to seek a permanent peace agreement and come to terms with the legacies of the past, the conflict will linger on in an unstable déétente, which we term ““armed peace.”” While this situation is far better than the open hostilities of the past, it also belies the promise of a fully democratic society in which all citizens are equally included in the political process. La transicióón democráática en Mééxico ha contribuido a reducir, si no eliminar, la posibilidad de que el conflicto armado en Chiapas se reanude. Sin embargo, sin esfuerzos mas activos por parte del gobierno y del Ejéército Zapatista de Liberacióón Nacional (EZLN) para buscar un acuerdo de paz permanente y saldar cuentas con el pasado, el conflicto permaneceráá en un estado inestable que llamamos ““paz armada””. Aunque esta situacióón es mucho mejor que las tensiones y agresiones del pasado, no cumple los requisitos de una sociedad plenamente democráática en que todos los ciudadanos participan en condiciones de igualdad en el proceso políítico.
