Interaction management strategies are increasingly set to become a vital factor in fostering active participants in university lectures. Following Rido, Ibrahim & Nambiar’s (2015) framework, this study investigated interaction management strategies used in English literature lectures in a university setting in Indonesia. This study employed a qualitative method and the data were gathered through video recordings. The findings showed that all literature lecturers employed three kinds of interaction management strategies such as code strategies, emotional strategies, and managing strategies. In code strategies, the lecturers used English during the entire class for clarity in opening, explanation, example, and closing. Meanwhile, in emotional strategies, the lecturers shared common strategies namely using non-verbal gestures and using humours or jokes in order to invite participation, to increase student’s motivation, and to create conducive learning environment. Then, in terms of managing strategies, the lecturers decided topic, controlled or switched the topic of discussion, decided who speaks, gave direction or commanded the students, gave extended wait time, and offered opportunity for student to speak in order to enable the students express their ideas and engage with the lectures. It is hoped that insights gleamed from this study will assist such lecturers to successfully manage their lectures and navigate the distribution of participation as well as content of the lesson.

In sociolinguistics, there is a phenomenon in which a community stops using their parent’s heritage language by making the use of the language in which they are located or stay as a mean of communication, it is called as a language shift. In this research, it aims to find out the factors that affected the students whose parents originated from Sunda not interested to learn their parent’s heritage language. Moreover, it aims to find out the most dominant factor that affected the students not interested to learn their parent’s heritage language. This research used the qualitative method and the data source comes from the students of English literature in Universitas Gunadarma. The result of this research shows the factors that affected the students not interested to learn their parent’s heritage language such as social, economic, and political factor, demographic factor, attitudes and values factors, education factor, migration factor, and bilingual or multilingual factors. Furthermore, education factor is assumed as the most dominant or influential factor to the students not interested to learn their parent’s heritage language, because all of the students choose agree to the education factor.

This descriptive, mixed methods study of one interim certification program explores first year urban teachers’ classroom management actions. This study investigates what strategies teachers implement to manage the classroom from programmatic surveys of 87 first-year teachers and interviews, field visits, video recordings, and journals of five case participants. Results indicate that teachers used behavioral, academic, and relational strategies to manage the classroom and they tend to refine several of these actions over time. Findings suggest that teacher preparation should promote beginning teachers to implement a range of classroom management strategies and support teachers in how to refine their actions.

Abstract   The presence of the COVID-19 pandemic has brought changes to the world with various challenges that were never imagined before. In Indonesia, COVID-19 has infected more than 3.8 million people since the first case was announced in March 2020, however, efforts to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus have hampered economic activity and its impact on the level of social welfare is increasingly felt by the community. As this research is very interesting, namely with the spirit of cooperation as a form of Pancasila and increased solidarity in society during the COVID-19 pandemic, philanthropy has a major role in complementing the presence of government programs. As done by the Kitabisa.com website, it has played a role in dealing with Covid-19 in Indonesia. This research is a research with qualitative method. Researchers also utilize secondary data sources or data obtained from graphic documents (tables, notes, minutes, meetings, etc.), photographs, films, video recordings, objects, and others. The results of this research From its inception until 2019, during that time we can record that we have collected donations of up to IDR 502,375,254,938 from a total of 18,402 social campaigns and presented 1,352,169 digital philanthropists. In a short period and is expected to increase every year. On 27 June 2019, the Kitabisa.com platform has raised Rp700 billion in funds, since it was founded in 201. In the role of dealing with COVID-19, we can collaborate with various institutions, one of which is Gusdurian cares, and has the #OrangBaik Movement, #IndonesiaLawanCovid-19.   Keywords: Covid-19 Pandemic, Mutual Cooperation, Philanthropy, Kitabisa.com     Abstrak   Hadirnya pandemi COVID-19 telah membawa perubahan terhadap dunia dengan berbagai tantangan yang tidak pernah terbayangkan sebelumnya. Di Indonesia, COVID-19 telah menjangkiti lebih dari 3,8 juta orang sejak kasus pertama diumumkan pada bulan Maret 2020, namun, upaya untuk menghambat penyebaran virus COVID-19 telah menghambat kegiatan perekonomian dan dampaknya terhadap tingkat kesejahteraan sosial semakin dirasakan masyarakat. Sebagaimana penelitian ini sangat menarik yakni dengan semangat gotong-royong sebagai wujud Pancasila dan solidaritas yang meningkat di masyarakat pada masa pandemi COVID-19, filantropi memiliki peran besar dalam melengkapi kehadiran program pemerintah. Sebagaimana yang dilakukan oleh Website Kitabisa.com turut berperan dalam menghadapi Covid-19 di Indonesia. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian dengan metode kualitatif. Peneliti juga memanfaatkan sumber data sekunder atau data yang didapatkan dari dokumen-dokumen grafis (tabel, catatan, notulen, rapat, dll),foto-foto, film, rekaman video, benda-benda, dan lain-lain. Hasil penelitian ini Dari awal berdirinya sampai 2019, dalam kurun waktu tersebut kitabisa tercatat telah mengumpulkan dana donasi hingga Rp 502.375.254.938 dari total kampanye social sebanyak 18.402 serta menghadirkan 1.352.169 filantropis digital. Dalam kurun waktu yang singkat dan dipekirakan akan semakin meningkat setiap tahunnya.  Pada 27 Juni 2019, Platform Kitabisa.com sudah mengumpulkan dana Rp700 miliar, sejak didirikan pada 201. Abstract Oral anticoagulants are commonly prescribed but high risk to cause adverse events. Skilled drug interaction management is essential to ensure safe and effective use of these therapies. Clinically relevant interactions with warfarin include drugs that modify cytochrome 2C9, 3A4, or both. Drugs that modify p-glycoprotein may interact with all direct oral anticoagulants, and modifiers of cytochrome 3A4 may interact with rivaroxaban and apixaban. Antiplatelet agents, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and serotonergic agents, such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, can increase risk of bleeding when combined with any oral anticoagulant, and concomitant use should be routinely assessed. New data on anticoagulant drug interactions are available almost daily, and therefore, it is vital that clinicians regularly search interaction databases and the literature for updated management strategies. Skilled drug interaction management will improve outcomes and prevent adverse events in patients taking oral anticoagulants.

Children learn words through an accumulation of interactions grounded in context. Although many factors in the learning environment have been shown to contribute to word learning in individual studies, no empirical synthesis connects across factors. We introduce a new ultradense corpus of audio and video recordings of a single child’s life that allows us to measure the child’s experience of each word in his vocabulary. This corpus provides the first direct comparison, to our knowledge, between different predictors of the child’s production of individual words. We develop a series of new measures of the distinctiveness of the spatial, temporal, and linguistic contexts in which a word appears, and show that these measures are stronger predictors of learning than frequency of use and that, unlike frequency, they play a consistent role across different syntactic categories. Our findings provide a concrete instantiation of classic ideas about the role of coherent activities in word learning and demonstrate the value of multimodal data in understanding children’s language acquisition.

Abstract:This study aimed to determine the implementation of classroom management, and to find out the supporting and inhibiting factors in improving the students’ learning outcomes. This research used qualitative method which focused on interviewing the principal and teachers. The data were analyzed through classifying the data, coding and theme creation, then presenting the results. The finding of this study indicated that classroom management had impact on students’ learning outcomes. There were also some supporting factors, such as coordination and motivation from the school and parents who had big part in encouraging the improvement of the students’ learning outcomes. However, there were inhibiting factors, such as learning environment which was not conducive.Abstrak:Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan implementasi manajemen kelas, serta faktor pendukung dan penghambat dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif yang berfokus pada wawancara kepala sekolah dan guru. Data dianalisis melalui pengklasifikasian data, pengkodean dan pembuatan tema, kemudian menyajikan hasilnya. Temuan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa manajemen kelas berdampak pada hasil belajar siswa. Terdapat juga beberapa faktor pendukung, seperti koordinasi dan motivasi dari sekolah dan orang tua yang berperan besar dalam mendorong peningkatan hasil belajar siswa. Namun, ada beberapa faktor penghambat, seperti lingkungan belajar yang tidak kondusif.

For the Kefamenanu community, the motif serves as the identity of the person who wears it. Nevertheless, the woven fabric must be present at cultural occasions, welcoming guests, and death ceremonies. The motifs of traditional woven fabric have not been developed by teachers to discuss the link between mathematics and local wisdom. The purpose of this research is to define and describe the mathematical concept of the motifs woven fabric to the students of primary and junior high schools. The present study uses a descriptive qualitative method to explain the geometry concept on the motifs of woven fabric. The ethnographic approach is also employed as an empirical and theoretical approach to provide description and analysis about a culture based on intensive field work. Collecting data were conducted using interviews and documentation. Interviews were conducted with several informants selected based on the consideration of researcher and suggestion by previous informant. Documentation was done using video recordings and photos. The results show the geometry concept of the motifs of woven fabric, such as reflection, rotation, translation, repetition, triangle and quadrilateral. The motifs of woven fabric owned by the Kefamenanu community contain particular local wisdom and are potentially used to convey the geometry concept in mathematics for primary and junior high schools.

This study is aimed to investigate students’ levels of engagement in learning English literature for traditional learning and virtual learning environment. There are four dimensions of engagement that were studied, which are the cognitive, behavioural, emotional and agentic engagement. A self-determination theory perspective on student engagement by Reeve (2012) was used for the foundation of this study. A questionnaire of School Engagement Measure was used to collect data from 80 respondents. The data were analysed using descriptive analysis utilizing the SPSS software. The results of this study show that the engagement level of the virtual learning environment is higher than the engagement level of the traditional learning. Based on the results, further research is recommended to focus on the effectiveness of virtual learning environment in the classroom for the teaching and learning process.

This study aims at exploring the perceived impact of grammar competence among the students of English literature. Participant observation and in-depth interview are conducted to the students of English literature in Universitas Sains Alqur’an in academic year 2017/2018. The data is then comprehensively analyzed using descriptive qualitative method. The result of this study shows that based on the students` perception, the grammar competence really influences the students’ speaking ability. Mostly the students perceived that the goodness of speaking ability depends on the grammar competence. There is only in the certain condition that the student has good speaking ability in less of grammar competence. The students also have different attitudes/ways to develop the speaking ability and grammar competence.

This paper explores the renditions produced by the interpreters in sermon interpreting at ROCK Church Denpasar Bali. It aims at finding out and investigating the categories and the motives of the renditions produced by the interpreters in the setting under investigated. The method adopted for this study is a descriptive qualitative approach. The data of this study is based on six transcribed audio-video recordings of interpreter-mediated sermons on Sunday services, involving six visiting preachers, congregation, and three interpreters. The sermons are preached in English and interpreted short-consecutively into Indonesian. The data were collected through observation method which was applied at once with the implementation of note-taking technique, and were analyzed using the qualitative method and comparative technique. As a theoretical framework, the taxonomy of renditions proposed by Wadensjö (1998) has been utilized. The result of the study shows that there were eight categories of rendition produced by the interpreters in sermon interpreting on Sunday services at ROCK church Denpasar Bali. The categories of rendition produced by the interpreters were close renditions, expanded renditions, reduced renditions, substituted renditions, summarized renditions, two-part renditions, non-renditions, and zero renditions.
